IMG_3310.PNG Today I am totin my Northwoods in my new Beard and Owl elephant slip. After I saw Rob post his I knew that I had to have one and I am so happy I sent him a message about it. Beautiful hide in my favorite color. Now to figure out which color of the interior flannel to go in the new lined slips that he has come out with for another special knife I have. :)

Premier pair of imports, Ron!:thumbsup: I like stag of any kind, and that stockman looks svelte!:cool: (I'd enjoy a photo of that Böker with your Osage Orange Dixie stockman. ;))

Just something small today. I mean really small.

WP_20140522_002_zpsgcqwsysr.jpg
Such a scintillating knife, H HFinn ! :thumbsup::cool: And it's substantially larger (.25") than a Peanut. ;)

At least act like you're surprised.

Took my wife to work and went to check on The Car On The Lake . It was On The Lake Monday anyhow .
...
I am calling it In The Lake now because it is not very deep there .
Have these in my pockets . I know it is Wooden Wednesday , but I prefer Stag and paulhilborn paulhilborn posted his 73 just the other day and I need to carry these more than I do ....

Both of them are made of Unobtainium

Harry
Sublime stag, Harry!!:thumbsup::thumbsup: Thanks for the Car on Lake update; did you win?? :)

Modeling this pair of chinks(leggings/chaps) that we just finished and am sending to AZ.

You turn out some fascinating gear, Dave!:cool::cool::thumbsup: Not sure I could pull off wearing it teaching my classes, though. :(

... Today, I'm traveling with Mutt & Jeff. A Battle Axe (Hickey Shouse) half hawkbill (1975-1990) and a Hibbard Spencer Bartlett OVB coke bottle hunter (1884-1960) in cocobolo. Hibbard Spencer Bartlett is now doing business as the True Value chain.

You've got the long and the short of it going there, Stuart.:thumbsup::cool: That Battle Axe Barlow is exceptional!:thumbsup::cool: (I wonder if it's where Rough Rider got the name for the RR Half Hawk?) I didn't know the True Value connection to HSB!:cool:

Thanks, GT! I love that huge blade on the MAM. Looks like you can get a lot of power behind the point of that one. What's the closed length on that guy?

The Craftsman is one of three barlows that I had glennbad recover for me. Here's a pic from when I first got it back that shows off the deeply jigged deeply Amber bone.

o3zwdVi.jpg
Thanks for the extra pic, Shawn; Glenn sure does impressive work!!:thumbsup: The jigging reminds me of the Case chestnut Sway Back Jacks. The MAM sheepsfoot is big (4" closed) but light as a feather with no springs, liners, etc.

Some of my past posts have been recycled, so the number is exaggerated. I'm still unboxing knives that my stepfather left to me, so I don't really know what I have. Cataloging them is a constant chore, with some surprises. Maybe I'll find that stockman that you envision. To that end, I'll keep posting them. I do like that captivating canoe that you just posted, and that MAM looks very handy around the house and garden.

:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool: Thanks, Stuart! :)

Another beautiful knife from your huge collection!!
Thanks. :) I'm very happy to have a couple of knives made in your country!:thumbsup:

Denim and Northwoods Presidential.

Majestic Presidential, Dean!:thumbsup::thumbsup: I'm susceptible to first impressions, and I still kind of think of you (and SadSappySucker) as the guys who carry the incredible Presidentials.

No, mostly over the cold now, just a slight cough remains. We thought winter was done around here, but then two days ago we got 3" of snow and the temp dropped to mid 20s. Today it's back into the mid 50s. That's the Midwest for you.
Glad to hear you're feeling better. I hope we'll all be able to enjoy spring weather real soon!:)

Case Barlow that a friend kindly gifted to me

Congrats, Steve, that's certainly a grand gift (and pic)!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

This one today, used it to open a package I found in the mail from @Amir Fleschwund. A nicely done wine bottle neck slide.
Thank you for the gift my friend, I'm enjoying playing with this one
Cool pic of your Farmer (?), and a thoughtful gift from Jeff!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Heading out for a nice dinner tonight to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary (which is today) and selling our house in AZ (which closed yesterday). I'm taking my Minnesota Bull Nose with me, as well as this brass zippo that my wife gave me today.

Congrats on the Anniversary X, Barrett, and on closing on your house!:cool::thumbsup: (The latter is probably something of a relief.) Exemplary lighter and knife!:cool::thumbsup:

You, Sir, have a keen eye for potential. I might have to go take a peek at my old baseball mitts.
It sounds like your Kutmaster lived a long useful life.

Who you callin' old?! ;):)

Thanks, and take a look at your old gloves; there's a lot of good leather there. I still have most of the "palm" and fingers of one of mine that I want to turn into a strop and maybe a wallet or some pocket slips. My Kutmaster's life is a mystery to me; I bought it in a dimly lit junk store while on vacation, and discovered the broken springs after I got it out to my car. :(
Glossy good knife you posted there!:thumbsup::cool:

Nice gifts gents :)

Well captured :)

I either gotta get a better phone/camera or get a less for my D80 but these just ain't cuttin' it. Anyway, it's always knice to have a choice. When we get up in the AM we're faced with so many choices, so many options we miss the point of havin' a choice. So every mornin' I'll finger my way through the blades and patterns, I'll make different combos to see how the pair up.

Some mornings it's a tough call seein' what two knives to pair up. Others it's a natural call, the two seem to pick you. (It's so knice to have a choice, we're so lucky.) On those tough mornin's when it's tough to choose it's so great to have a variety to pick from. The odds of bein' able to come up with something are greatly increased. ;) :)

I'm trying to decide whether to keep this 43. I've sold a few of my other knives that I don't carry much, and getting a 77 will have forced me to break my resolution not to buy myself a knife. I've already fudged on that one by selling my Lionsteel roundhead to "replace" it with a shuffler. On the whole I'm keeping the same number of knives, and just selling ones I haven't carried. I've also been buying a selling patterns in order to get a fee for GEC models, since I don't have a local dealer to go and see the knives in person. That's been a fun experiment, and is giving me some insight into future buys that will be keepers.

My main interest in the 43 was the size and the clip point (I've realized clips tend to be what I like best). I had a 74 stallion which ticked a lot of boxes, but having the 47 Viper, which is essentially the same size, though turned around, made me wonder if something bigger would work better. I'm not sure yet, hence the ongoing evaluation of the 43.

I also had to flitz my #35 churchill because it started to develop what looked like pitting, despite a nice patina. I think some moisture and a couple of days of not carrying it may have causes it, or perhaps I forgot to clean it after cutting an apple or something. I think I got most of whatever it was off, but it gave me a little scare because this one has been such a favorite.

Very NICE Lostball!!! We think along similar lines. I saw Rob posted a red bandana lined slip so I pm'd and one is on the way:cool::thumbsup:

Thanks Gary! :)

Totin this new one today. It’s a 2nd, but so far so good. It’s an Oakedge Knives made for them by A. Wright’s. It’s a Lambsfoot with a carbon blade. Made, I believe, on Wright’s Barlow pattern. The slip is also from Oakedge.

special knife indeed....very rare....i was also lucky enough to get one of these a few years ago from Derrick.. enjoy that knife

Today, I'm totin' one the two Queen model 23 Spear Barlows that I pulled out yesterday to post on the barlow thread. I am carrying the one without the paper tab on the main (apologies for recycled photo). I am also carrying my Sabre pruner (or hawkbill), as my wife has asked for some cut branches from the forsythia flowering in our backyard to brighten up our living room.
