What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

A real workout snowshoeing today.

That would be a Camillus-manufactured Case scout knife. Depending on what year it was made in the 80's, it could even be the same #5779 pattern as my stag scout. The only difference would be the main blade, bolsters, and possibly the pins. If it has a longer flathead screwdriver, it's probably built on the old Camillus #14/4 pattern, the predesessor of the 5779 pattern.

I gotta look now, I'll let you what I see and post a pic. :)

I had glennbad put ebony scales and rat tail bolsters on a GEC 47. The shield is like what is on some on knives of this pattern that were found on the steamship Arabia wreck. I'll have to get better pictures, I don't know why the bolster looks so yellow, it is the same as the shield. What do you think?

Here you go, Jake. I got this a month ago at a knife show at the Carpenter's Hall on Hampton Ave., near where the old Arena was.

Thank you for the photo, Jeff  Some exceptional stag on that one! ...hope you stopped by the Hill for some cannoli while you were in the area ;)

The brassy yellow color is probably an artifact of reflected light from a surface nearby... Also, was the photo taken late day or early morning? My bet would be the wall or building reflected in the bolster...

I thought it WAS brass! Maybe a reflection from that copper coin underneath causes this optical illusion?

The Congress is not usually a pattern I take much interest in, but I think that one is absolutely beautiful, stunning bone and nicely threaded bolsters

Been about a hundred pages since I dropped in here  this one has been in my pocket for some weeks now, these days I tend to fall into carrying a knife for extended periods, and the rest get occasionally fondled and admired, at least the ones within easy reach.

I'm so glad you've taken to the pattern Duane

Thanks! It didn't look quite like this when I got it, the middle "dog head" flat part is what was revealed when I sanded down a rather high ridge , as it was a little uncomfortable in the pocket. I think it looks kind of cool now.

I've only just noticed that! :D It's certainly unique my friend

Very nice, and Glennbad has done a great job, as always :) Isn't the yellow just the brass in the nickel silver (edit - couple of the bolsters in my pics below look yellow, though both pics are filtered)?

Treating myself to a brace of Lambsfoot knives today ;) Have a good Friday folks, the weekend is nearly here
