I love this knife! I think a spear point TC with wood covers is simply perfect. Do you know what sort of wood? Light ebony? Walnut?

Macassar (light) Ebony. From the first production run. You can read in the Charlow Barlow History thread about the covers from this run. Jet black ebony is cool, but this stuff has a little more character. All the covers from that run were terrific; and I don't really understand why we don't get sawcut bone like that anymore from GEC. That stuff looks classic and timeless, whereas a lot of the bone of late to me just looks souvenir-ish.

I have an old Scout pattern Case from the 80s in jigged plastic. What a great knife, almost identical to the Victorinox Pioneer

That would be a Camillus-manufactured Case scout knife. Depending on what year it was made in the 80's, it could even be the same #5779 pattern as my stag scout. The only difference would be the main blade, bolsters, and possibly the pins. If it has a longer flathead screwdriver, it's probably built on the old Camillus #14/4 pattern, the predesessor of the 5779 pattern.

I'm usually pretty indifferent towards Northwoods knives (I'm in the minority, I know :D), but I've always liked those Presidentials.

Heading out for a nice dinner tonight to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary (which is today) and selling our house in AZ (which closed yesterday). I'm taking my Minnesota Bull Nose with me, as well as this brass zippo that my wife gave me today.

That's a great looking bull nose, Barrett. Congratulations on your 10th wedding anniversary!

I completely agree with your Northwoods comment. I've had a few Northwoods, but the only one I kept was my Presidential.

Majestic Presidential, Dean!:thumbsup::thumbsup: I'm susceptible to first impressions, and I still kind of think of you (and SadSappySucker) as the guys who carry the incredible Presidentials.

Big Knife of the Week is a Rough Rider marlin spike knife:

Thanks, Gary! I like the look of that Marlin spike!

This morning I carried this TC sheepfoot Barlow

and this afternoon an ebony Huckleberry Boy's Knife.
