What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Cherry cutting board I made on sunday.

Well wishes to all and nice knives!

I always admire your barlows! Now that I've got a 77 coming my way, I'm curious about how the sawcut wears over time. Does it smooth out considerably, or do the grooves go pretty deep, so that it retains some of its ridges? I've never had sawcut before, so I have no idea what to expect (although, if someone is willing, I may go in for a trade to get ironwood--I love woods and especially ironwood).
It will take a lot of wear to get the Sawcut to wear off . This picture of my 2 Red Sawcuts show the wear on my 25 , which has barely been carried , and the 77 which I got in the spring of 2015 and carried quite a lot with no slip .

You could look at some of the older Barlows in the Barlow thread and also get some more visual samples . I will challenge you to carry it as your EDC for a year and then show us how much wear you have on the Sawcut . Congrats on getting a 77 Reservation . I would encourage you to keep the saw cut and go for a Desert Ironwood in the future . I think you will really like to use your 77 Sawcut . Stay safe my friend .

I would say "I hope everything came out well at the dentist", but that would be a very bad pun.

Curious about the pliers in the second photo. Is that a Brit version of fencing pliers? Seems like the curved jaws is a smart touch for pulling staples or nails.
I'll have to pose a knife with my American fencing pliers.

Neal, I love the Saw Jack, that is an awesome electrician's knife, I'd make a bail for it and put it on a chain to hang off the tool pouch with the tape and a pair of Klein Lineman Pliers. Thanks that made my day. Reminds me of one I have that has a bubble level built into it, I'll have to dig it out for a pic.

Miscellaneous knife this week is a Case chestnut jigged bone CV mini trapper:

Oh, that's very nice!

We are getting a drenching rain today to be followed by a snow storm tonight and tomorrow. Outside and inside photos are difficult to achieve, so I re-posting an earlier pic of my choice for today. Since I won't be going out, except for a short errand, it won't be taxed too tremendously. An Empire (Winsted, CT) bare head jack in cocobolo from the 1856-1930 period. 3.25" closed.

What a great old knife, Stuart. And it's in really good condition.

Is the top one a new 43 Josh ??? Very nice my friend .

Harry

It is the new 43! It is so much more stunning than I had imagined. It is much finer than the 43 in looks, for sure. The fit and finish are excellent. The only thing better about the micarta is the action, but I don't mind the softer action on the cocobolo because it is very smooth (not lazy).

That is good to hear. I have a boker tree brand barlow with a jigged bone, and it seemed like it would be difficult to wear it down, but not having a sawcut to judge it against, I wasn't sure. I have one knife with ironwood (a modern folder, Enzo Birk 75), so a sawcut would fill a gap for me. However, if the ironwood comes out looking anything close to what the cocobolo on the 43 looks like, it will be hard to resist!

Joshua : He has so many , that you would not get much wear on any of them .

I've seen! That picture he has of that large display stand always makes me smile. I'd have to carry two in every pocket and wear a jacket every day just to give them a chance.

I was going to say , you show me your fencing pliers and I'll show you mine , but I am not sure now that I could find mine anymore .
