What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

First time carrying these two S&M’s today. Brought them to get the edges a little better. None of the blades clamp straight into my bracket though. So some sharpmaker time got them good enough. The whittler is like a kittens little neee sharp teeth! Honestly probably won’t carry these much but they are quite capable should I decide to.

Here's the secret: use the new knife to cut up limes; after the second vodka tonic, you hardly taste the steel.

As I read this, I was stuck indoors as a massive winter storm slowly advanced. This "secret" brightened my outlook and sent me to the bar for a bottle of vodka, one of tonic, and a glass, then to the fridge for a lime and ice. Snow, schmo, I don't care anymore! (I admit that I cheated and used a stainless kitchen knife because I could.)

I got this this morning. I'm speechless. Stunned by beauty.

Happy Father's Day, Pai Pinto!! ;) What a wonderful gift from your son!:cool: My daughter, who lived in Madrid for 6 years, doesn't speak Portuguese, but she translated for me anyway :D: Best Father in the World. Is that an accurate translation?

Many thanks Mr. GT.
Yes the translation is correct.
As for the present I loved it, because I did not expect to receive a knife!!!

sleet at twilight from Friday night. I'm just figuring out Imgur and trying to make a face again. 77 as per most of the days.

Great pic, @Bugbear ! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

I enjoyed the spring-like weather this evening. Snow is forecast for tomorrow.View attachment 871514
Your "spot" makes every knife you pose there look amazing, Travman!:thumbsup::cool: Looks like your pups are enjoying the sunshine, too. ;)

Colorful patina at the tip of your Churchill clip, FBC!:thumbsup: What brought that on?

...
By the way, I recommend trying something like this sheath. They are not difficult to make, you can modify a cheap nylon pouch for suspended carry if you like.

Nice knife and pouch. I second the recommendation. Very easy to make, and versatile.

Useful, versatile suspension slips, H HFinn and @r8shell !:cool::thumbsup: I also have one, and recommend it highly. I usually put the leather loop thru a belt loop, thread the pouch through the leather loop, and then hang the pouch in front or rear pocket or sometimes inside waistband. Also works well to attach to "buttonhole" on chest of bib overalls and put pouch into a chest pocket.

Great grains to start the day.
I see what you did there, Joshua! ;) You're a day early with that splendid wooden duo!

Two for Tuesday! It seemed like a good day for some Sawcut! :D

Captivating couple of sawcut 77 Barlows, Ron!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Now that's snow 5K! I'm jealous. Where I live in England I've got to go hunting for stuff like that :( You obviously just step out your door...:D:thumbsup:
...
Yesterdays and today as well.

Looks like you have no need to be jealous, donn, with your current snow cover. For your enjoyment, here's a photo from last month, taken from the concrete apron in front of our garage, and looking toward our neighbor's house over the snow pile I generate when I clear that area before the garage.

This should count as some sort of exercise.
Quality quintet, Jer! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

5K Qs 5K Qs Don't mind using carbon blades on food that gets cooked it's RAW like fruits, cheese etc that I find unpleasant, then I can really taste the metallic zing....not good:poop:
Ah, thanks for the clarification, Will; makes sense that cooking can affect the situation.:cool:

A Yellow Rose for the first day of spring even though we've got another nor'easter predicted.

So it’s the first day of spring?
38 degrees (f) doesn’t feel too springish, so I have a couple of sunny handled Camilli to brighten things up.

Alan and Jeff, I admire your positive attitudes about the arrival of spring, and the cheery knives you posted.:thumbsup::thumbsup: Alan, my condolences on today's weather; did I hear 7-10 inches of snow forecast for NYC today??:(

That lower knife looks sensational!!:thumbsup::cool: Weaver Jack?

... If you’ll send me all of your other knives for safekeeping and only use your new Sawcut 77 for let’s say 30 years or more. You will probably notice some wear, but the Sawcut texture should still be visible. :)
I tell you what. I'll send you all of my other knives, and you can send me all of your 77s and I'll test the wear on all of the handle materials for the next 30 years! :D
Ron & Joshua, you guys crack me up!! :p:D:thumbsup:

How do you like my patina job ? Wasabi mustard,it's like gun blue
Positively praiseworthy patina, Vince!! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

Thanks, GT. That green canoe you show is a beauty, but the Marbles and Case are the real eye-catchers in your post. Both bestow a bounty of beauty to all who benefit from their being posted. Thanks for sharing.

I appreciate your encouragement, Stuart. :)

Thank you for the compliments, GT! I think Wrights does an exceptional job with their pins, though I think they use a different process than GEC and/or others. Jack has alluded to it in the past and though I think the results are very clean and sharp looking, I cannot help but wonder why it isn't a more widespread practice with other cutlers.

I am carrying a couple of smart looking Barlows today. They certainly outclass myself, for sure.

Thanks for your pin thoughts, Dylan. :) Delectable red/black rough/smooth pair of Barlows!:cool::thumbsup:

Sambar Triplets as Jack said below in his post! :p:D I watch the Weather Channel on occasion, but I get most of my severe weather alerts from my local news channels. The alerts also come across on my cell phone.

Thanks for updating my stag counts, Jack & Ron. :) It's tough to keep up with you!! :D:cool::thumbsup:

It took a year to find one, but I finally have my ebony 92.

Thank you for another kind comment, Gary! I still have my CSC in my pocket again today.

That's a great shot of your Pocket Pal. I think I may carry mine soon.

About my walks, I exercise one way or another every day. In our local parks (which are mostly wild and natural), at least once a week. Overall, I average about 8 - 9 miles a day.
Thanks for the Pocket Pal pic comment, Dean; I'd like to see your PP show up sometime. :)
Wow, 8-9 miles per day is impressive!!:thumbsup::thumbsup: That's a 2-3 hour commitment, I'd guess. I usually do about 3 miles per day and plan to try to double that when I get more time, but I don't think I could triple it!!

I've worked a lot of 12 hours shifts; today's was absolutely one of the most tiring and stressful. I am absolutely spent. A couple carbon-sliced limes in a V&T sounds fantastic, @r8shell. :D

Had a couple small fellers in my pocket today. Both knives that I greatly enjoy but somehow miss the pocket all too frequently. Single blade GEC #14 in Ebony and a Lakota Teal from @joeradza. Thanks, Alan!

Hope you get a break soon, Shawn! Fascinating pair you posted; you're the sultan of small pocket knives!!:thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Among the knives I'm carrying this week are a Vic Alox Pruner (thanks, Ken), a Marbles ram's horn pruner, and a Rough Rider sawcut canoe:

Thanks for the compliment Gary! :) Your RR Canoe has a very interesting and unique pattern of Sawcut. The bone also exhibits a very rich deep color which is very well done. All that coupled with those fancy bolsters make for a great looking knife my friend!:cool:

Pruners are in for you today! Nice bolsters on your canoe.

I like your taste, Ron—that ebony looks very fine and the stallion is a great pattern.
Thanks Joshua! :) This 74 does have great ebony. This is the 2nd ebony 74 I have had. I returned the first one to the dealer when I received it. The ebony that was on it had a bunch of white splotches in it. I know it’s a natural material but I just prefer the darker browns and blacks in my ebony. I waited for almost a year before I finally found this one on the exchange from Randy. You’re correct in saying the Stallion is a great pattern.

I like the darker ebony as well, though I’ve not had one that was dappled with browns as some are, which look nice. I had a green jigged bone 74 earlier this year during my carousel of pattern trying. I liked it a lot but not enough to kick out one of my other knives. This new 43 cocobolo may have to stay though.
