What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Dropped into my pocket earlier this morning my old, marked tang stamp: Marshall Wells, Hdw. Co., easy open Harness Jack with nice Ebony scales embellished with what I believe is a long prop shield.. How old?. Likely between 1892 - 1912 according to a little research. This knife was built like a custom of today with her old carbon steel spear blade and punch that still snap shut hard and loud..

What I would like to know is who built pocketknives for the Marshall Wells Hardware Company between 1892-1912? Sorry no pics due to broken camera. Working on getting a new one.. :(

Edit to add: Thanks to a post by our own Charlie(Waynorth) in 2006 in BL's forum I have found that the aforementioned knife was actully made by New York Knife Co. for Marshall Wells Hardware Co. circa 1893 - 1916.. Thanks Charlie!. Much obliged.

Buzz, I haven't seen that offering from Case: very nice! I know a full-sized Trapper wouldn't get much run in my pocket, but it would make a great around-the-house gardening tool.

Drizzling rain today, on and off, so I'll be indoors mostly. These two should suffice, an Imperial small premium jack and an Imperial Girl Scout knife.

Greetings from Mallorca! Had a wonderfull week hiking, eating and drinking. Knife was needed a lot and did it's job very well.

Am I the only one rendered deeply uncomfortable by this photo?

Very cool Mercator though!!!

Back to this yesterday.

Those Case barlows are awesome. I’m going to have to keep an eye out for one.

Today I carry my special Portuguese knife...

This is a beautiful knife! I feel like it would be right at home in one of Stephan Schmalhaus’ wonderful videos!

Belated birthday greeting, Karl!:cool::thumbsup: You didn't celebrate by needing a hospital visit like for your wedding, did you??;)

Here are photos of the knives I carry every day, regardless of my weekly knife rotation schedule:

No self stabbings this birthday! I figure I should save those for anniversaries ;)

Love your Sodbuster Jr.! Looks like it’s seen some good work. The jigging on your example is superb!

It was my friend, some other great bands on the line-up too. The Clash also played in Sheffield, but I was at school at the time, and nobody had heard of them anyway! :D

Great tunes to go with your Moore Maker :)

Another week. Carrying my Unity Lambsfoot today, along with a Queen Canoe in D2

That canoe is wonderful, one day I’ll have to dabble in the world of canoes, I’m a big fan of sunken joints!

Aye from snow to rain and drizzle. Think I prefer the white stuff... :)

LOL 5K! When I was a lad my mum would command (she never advised ) to "eat up, and don't talk with your mouth full"! And that's wisdom I've followed ever since :D. Just so I could fit in all the pies :)
I actually thought of you when I posted that. It's a pork and apple pie from Haffners Butchers in the town of Burnley in the county of Lancashire. A fine pie. But what was finer was the pork and black pudding pie that followed :thumbsup:

And because this website is apparently to do with knives and not northern English delicacies I'll post another pic of my really useful Anker knife which has just fit the bill for all the jobs I've been doing for the past week.

That pie looks spectacular. I wish meat pies would have more of a presence here. I’d make them myself, though pastries are beyond my comfort zone.

@Travman every knife you post I would gladly carry myself. I appreciate your aesthetic.

Today, along with my SAK, I’m carrying this little Case lockback my in-laws gave me as a birthday gift. I’m very impressed with this knife — the fit and finish may be the best of any Case I’ve received yet with near perfect blade centering, no gaps anywhere apparent, and a nice affirmative click when it locks into place.

Congratulations Dylan! That is a beautiful Barlow!!! :D

Congrat's , man! That is super sweeet!:thumbsup:

I wondered why I would sometimes see the mailman tooling around on Sundays, then I found out that it’s because of Amazon.
Nice new NF!

Thank you, fellas! Much appreciated. I am a fortunate man.

Another week. Carrying my Unity Lambsfoot today, along with a Queen Canoe in D2

Love the Unity, Jack! The Canoe is a bit of a departure for you, at least as of late. I saw a Case Canoe at the Oregon Show in Red Bone and I came oh so close to scooping it up. The price was good and it really would have been an ideal way to introduce myself to the pattern. But, I was trying to keep my wallet closed for a change...

I have these two with me today.

Working swing shift this week so I had an opportunity to pull out the .450 Marlin and grab this Old Timer for its first trip anywhere.

Great choice on both accounts!
Love the match strike long pull on that Stockman. Very capable knife, huh?
