The gloves we're given to me by my dad, issued to him around '78 in basic at ft Bliss TX.Magnificent, articulate testimonial, Buzz!!At one point, I think you'd given up on carbon steel blades for summer carry, but these two have apparently changed your mind? I selfishly miss seeing your scouts
, but it's fantastic that you've found a pair of knives with which you're so pleased!
Another clever knife/background connection, Ken!
Thanks for showing that tremendous trio of Case trappers, Stuart!
Steve and Gev and Rachel, those are some incredible vintage Imperials!!
Thanks for the additional description of that glorious Case, Ron!As for "the antiques jokes", at my age, it's NO joke!!
And the knife is about 20-40 years older than me!
Thanks for the additional info.
Thanks, Lance.
Congrats on the new 77 ironwood Barlow, @Chief !
Thanks for the reminder, Dean. You've had some amazing avatars!!
When Jeff is right, he's right!
The bolded phrase seems somewhat ambiguous to me, Jer!!
Thanks, @Ratbert .

All-American knife line-up, as promised!Where did you get your gloves? I think I have some just like that that I picked up at a military surplus store in Lafayette IN in 1973 (but I've lost or worn out the wool inserts).
Thanks for the Tear Drop Jack vote; I think I favor that, but I've also heard at least these: dogleg jack, candle tip jack, bullet jack.
Thanks, Jack. That pair of "instant classics" should serve you well in extended carry!
Oldies/Goodies, Jeff!
I always look forward to the knife lessons I learn from your posts, Stuart!
My Bailed non-SAK of the Week is a Marbles Workman Camp Knife (thanks, Mike) that doesn't even have a bail, but it should:

That is a stunner in ebony. Can you tell me more about what I am looking at?
Either reading would be an improvement. The bolded phrase seems somewhat ambiguous to me, Jer!!
That’s exactly how I feel!Wow it’s so hot you look like baked potatoes or a loaf of bread fresh out of the oven![]()

A Throwback Thursday for me, as I'm totin' some oldies for the day (still hot and not much cuttin' in the plans). A Queen City equal end pen (1922-1945) and a New York Knife Co. (Walden, 1856-1931) in a fish pattern. Bernard Levine opines that the fish knife is the precursor to the fishtail pattern.

Those look great Harry!
Thank you my friend . I appreciate your concern about my Lack of Patina on them but , I prefer them looking a little shined up . I do use them when I carry them , in fact I even cut some cucumbers off the vine today and opened a couple of boxes of Roku Devices . The first of many cucumbers to come .Those look great Harry!I bet they would look good with some Patina!!!

The teardrop is one of my favorite patterns and the dimensions of yours is outstanding. If only the blade wasn't so broad. I prefer a slimmer one, but I'll make an exception for that Cramer.@LastRodeo Thank you sir. It’s a 3 5/8 teardrop I got from Brent Cramer quite a few years back. Here it is opened...

Both those old bones are incredible!! So smooth, and the color are just lovely!![]()
Thanks Gev! The knife is actually a Churchill micarta. It’s just the angle of the picture distorting the shape. I just used an iPhone. Sometime I’ll have to post a shot using a view camera for correct geometry!Sure love to see your baking prowess and that sleeveboard is a treat too !!
Man that's a looker! Perfect ebony, perfect size, gorgeous blade!@LastRodeo Thank you sir. It’s a 3 5/8 teardrop I got from Brent Cramer quite a few years back. Here it is opened...
