What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Donating blood was part of being in the service. Once I became a supervisor, gave my troops a day off for donating blood, we won a lot of base blood drives. Takes a long time to donate 40 pints.

I love that cover color! You don't see that shade of orange very much on traditionals. I'm jealous, haha.
And its unfortunate, as I am quite partial to it as well. Something about the color makes the knife look like it means business and is ready for work.

That’s a nice Ancient John! That’s my only disappointment from the 2018 Rendezvous. I was standing at Charlie’s table when he got the box of TC’s to sell. He was waiting to find out the price from GEC. Somehow I got distracted with something or someone and the next thing I knew I had missed out on the 2018 Rendezvous Special Ancient! :( I have a lot of TC’s so I can take comfort in that fact, but dang a man only gets so many chances at a 1 of 25 TC!

I already posted this in the Saturday Stag thread but I forgot to post it here! So here is this big ole 53 TK in Natural Stag that is keeping me company today! :D

These 2 today :

Harry
Splendid pair with superior bone, Harry!:cool::thumbsup: (Did you get hit with any of the torrential rain I heard hit parts of WI earlier this week?)

Tribal Lock with CV steel and synthetic scales with a Cold Steel Charm with CPM S35VN steel and Micarta scales on my keychain.

Certainly a study in contrasts there, @wazu013 !:thumbsup::cool: I'm a fan of the Tribal Lock but didn't realize a CV model was available!:thumbsup:

Ken that's an enchanting pic of an elegant knife!!:cool::thumbsup:

... More and more though, I find there isn't much I can't do with the Lambsfoot blade (though I'm not going to open bottles with it!). Even in the kitchen, where I've always liked a bellied blade (as for hunting and fishing), I'm currently using a straight-edged knife. It's one which @Cambertree ground for me from a stock Frost's knife, with some of the same angles as a Lambsfoot. I'm finding it excellent, and not actually missing the bellied blades I'm used to. It's been a bit of a surprise

I'm throwing down the gauntlet of versatility with TWO Lambsfoot knives today! :D I just wish my internet connection was as efficient (it's taken me ages to upload these pics)! o_O Have a good Friday folks :)

An impressive variety in your lambsfoot triad, Jack!!:cool::thumbsup:

These two in Ebony for today! Y’all have a great Friday! :)

Ron & Jeff, you two gentlemen are taking Black Friday to serious new heights with the dark duos you each posted!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Another stunner, Steve!:thumbsup::thumbsup: I think I've discovered why I react so positively to the crinkly golden brown bone you have on so many of your vintage knives - as I had lunch today, I realized that those covers look very similar to my favorite pizza crust!!:cool::thumbsup:

... A Queen Texas toothpick (also dubbed a Folding Outdoor Knife in their catalogs) from 1949-1958. Their Queen Steel, developed in 1949, really is pretty resilient. This period saw the declining use of true Winterbottom bone due to increasing costs. They switched to Delrin in the late 1960's; Winterbottom sold out to a competitor in 1968.

The case is a cigarette/cigarillo case that I found in some old musty bin.

Thanks, GT. At 4 5/8", it's almost as large as the 5" Queen toothpick that I picked to pack today, though not heavy at all.

That is a handsome knife, friend.

Stuart, that Queen toothpick is definitely regal!!:thumbsup::thumbsup: Thanks for the size info about your English Jack, and for the "tip of your hat" to my RR stag stockman. :)

I started to put together a multi quote post, but there are just too many great knives here today (I don’t know how GT keeps up with it  :) ). Thank you all for sharing!

Mine today, a new “saw scout” by Camillus. Happy Friday :)

I bet he has a system! ;) :D  Two lookers Tom, congratulations on the new Camillus
Congrats on the champion Camillus scout, Tom!:cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:
Jack, I don't currently have a system for multi-quotes, but the Totin' Today thread now contains so much content each day that I think I'll have to devise some kind of system. Maybe follow my mother's advice to her young children and "only speak when spoken to". Or maybe quote only my two favorite posts from each page ...:(

Thanks GT :) Yeah, me too, the horn was supposed to be quite different

Hey, I'm not complaining about having my memory jogged my friend, every little helps these days! ;) :D

Rough Rider did a nice job of that one :)
...
Thanks, Gary! I think that little stag stockman you're sporting is the finest single knife RR have ever made!
Thanks, as always for the kind words, Jack & Jeff. :) That RR I posted has almost every feature I'd ask for in a stockman!!:cool:

GT, I did not realize how many layers the Demo Knife had! I was a bit under the impression that they were svelte!

I have had positive results both staining and dying Case's Amber Bone. I'll have to grab a decent picture of the pair of them together this weekend. While I wish Case was a bit more consistent with their dying process, I really do enjoy how well their Amber Bone responds to dyes.
Thanks for the reply about your experience with coloring Case amber bone; I look forward to your pics jogging my memory of what you've done.:cool::cool: Regarding the Marbles demo knife, I decided to measure it, and found it to be just over 1/2 inch thick!

Putting down the Ancient Barlow long enough to give this one a little pocket time...

That's a ravishing knife, Wayne!! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

Thanks, Gary! That is a Superior stag stockman you're schlepping today!:thumbsup:
Thanks, Dean; it's really very similar in size and features to the Uncle Henry 897UH except for real stag instead of Staglon. :)

I'm carrying this Case teardrop for Fake stag Friday.

Beautiful bonestag teardrop, Dean!:cool::cool: Fake Stag Friday is a movement I'd certainly support! ;)

Thanks, it was virtually unused when I got it but not anymore ;)
Thanks for the reply, Steve, and I'm glad you're getting to use it!:cool::thumbsup:

I like that! I think I'll join you in Fake Stag Friday.
A little switch-up after work. The weather has cooled some so I'm outside pulling some weeds... I even found the first acorn of the year on the ground. I always pick up the first one I find and put it on my desk. Fall is coming!!!
Back to tempting guys like me with that little beauty, eh, John?? ;):thumbsup::thumbsup:

Enjoy the weekend everyone!
You've got a bunch of fine drinking buddies there, Leslie!!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Antique amber jigged bone 26 today.
Standout little sleeveboard pen, Ken!!:cool::thumbsup:

Glad you like both, Gary!
I take orders! You would not believe how many orders I take. After 37 years hitched to Mrs.Serious Fleschwund, yes, I take orders.
You should have heard the orders I got after she totaled up how much I spent on knives in the last year.

How’s the quality on the little Taylor Schrade? I take it it’s a bit bigger than the 12OT that I usually tote?
:D:D Sounds like the perfect marriage, Jeff!
I think my 72OT is the same size (2 7/8") and dogleg frame as your 12OT, but the 72OT adds a pen blade and is probably thicker than yours. I think it's quality is fine, although I like my Rough Riders better than my Old Timers (USA or Chinese). (Now I should probably duck.)

I'm carrying all 4 of these knives this week. The 3 on the left I carry EVERY week, but I've recently begun changing the lambsfoot I carry each week.

Thanks, Gary. In re: your stag RR stockman really does have some of the best stag I've seen (IMO YMMV, etc)

It's always good to see your EDCsss! :) (misspelling deliberate)

Thanks, Jack! I bet Charlie doesn't even remember when he sold this to me. :p
