What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

These today as they share something in common,

The mark side covers are rather plain, but the pile side shows more character.

I have read about the pre 2009 Dave Shirley era Northwoods knives and wanted to check one out. They are pretty nice especially considering the relatively low cost. This muskrat is in Italian jigged bone. ...
That's a monumental muskrat, Leslie (and a very generous and cool GAW)!! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

Lotta knife, Lance!! :eek::thumbsup::thumbsup:

What-A-Knife, what a classic!! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Dylan & Jack, you're certainly trend-setters with your "Flora/Fauna" handle pairings! ;):cool::thumbsup:

Thanks GT! Fantastic Kitchen Kutlery :). Yes I still use it, there is not really any good light at my place so I manufactured it :). ...
Thanks for one of the keystone knives in the kollection! :thumbsup::thumbsup::) I really like the pics you get from your set-up, and I should try to put something similar together with cold, dark seasons fast approaching! :eek:

Thanks, GT! Single blades have always been my favorite due to the overall thinness and ease of carry. Although I prefer a sheep’s foot, I don’t discriminate. :D
:thumbsup::cool::thumbsup: Discrimination is definitely to be avoided.

Blinding bunch GT! :) Thumbsup:
...
Thanks, Jack; have to use a flash in my kitchen, which probably contributes to your perceptions! ;)

Stag Saturday
Such a variety of types of stag in that quartet, Ken! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

Thanks, Gary! I think a pet under your care would be set for life!:thumbsup:
...
My wife is really the one who dotes on pets/animals of any kind. :) She's been gone almost a week, and the 2 dogs mostly lie on the back porch, staring at the door, except when I serve them meals. :rolleyes:

Man, that denim micarta and spear point look fantastic!! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

This one since 12 today, bought from a pawn shop on my lunch break.
Congrats on the big Buck, MH! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup: Any idea how old that one is?

Okay, a couple of Schrades for Schrade Saturday...

Couple of charmers, Wayne! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Not to get us to far off topic in this thread, keep up the sales pitch. Your doing good work for future generations. ... After many years I finally got a G.E.D. To all the teachers, keep up the good fight!
Thanks for the encouraging words and the testimonial!! You and your teacher did well. :thumbsup::thumbsup::)

I saw it was delivered to the mailroom Gary. And knowing how that can go with a 3 day weekend I figured it was safely tucked away in some dusty old room. Happy Labor Day.

Even carrying this radically (blade & body) modded 92 has given me the opportunity to appreciate its virtues.

Happy Labor Day to you, Alan, and to all the other Forumites!! :):thumbsup: Probably a little odd that I'm looking forward to Tuesday when the holiday hasn't even begun.
Any idea what led to those mods of the 92? I reminds me of a souped-up Douk-Douk. ;):cool::thumbsup:

... Seize the day, seize the Lambsfoot! :D ;) I never tire of seeing that knife, always brings a smile to my face :) :thumbsup:
...
Thanks for sharing my enjoyment of the scrimshawed Rough Rider. :)

I wonder what the Latin would be for 'Lambsfoot'?! :rolleyes:
As a bit of a Latin scholar*, I believe the term would be something like "agnus pes" or "pes agnus."
*Google user
I took 3 years of Latin in high school, but that ended in 1969 at the latest, so I totally approve of Barrett's approach! :thumbsup:;) If we change "lambsfoot" to the possessive "lamb's foot", then I think the Latin would require the "genitive case", so Google suggests that "seize the day, seize the lamb's foot" (admittedly, not quite what we want :rolleyes:) could be expressed in Latin as "carpe diem, carpe agni pes".

Thanks Gary! I like your choice—it’s nothing if not formulaic.
Thanks, Joshua. :) (I see what you did there. :p)

LOL, nope. Pure coincidence. :)

That’s a small detail of a blanket we brought back as a souvenir from Peru many years ago. It was sitting somewhere other than it’s usual place and as I walked by it I noticed the S-like shape and thought it’d make a good background.

Thanks for commenting and for your nice words. I know you carry your Euler knife everyday, but it’s always nice when it makes an appearance here. :thumbsup:
Thanks, Greg. :)

Thanks GT! I always enjoy seeing your scrimshawed RR. My knife is a Case medium stockman. It was originally chestnut jigged bone, but I tried my hand at Rit dying it to deepen the color. The mark side largely resisted my efforts, but the pile side turned out nice.

Thanks, Gary! My stockman knives in the photos were: a 3.5 inch chestnut bone Case (63032) and a 3.25 inch dark red bone Case (6344) both with CV blades.

Your famous mathematical stockman is always a pleasure to see! :thumbsup:
...
Thanks for the stockman IDs, @Spaten and Dean. :) I suspected that's what the knife was. I really like Case's chestnut jigged bone CV series, but I'm usually not a fan of square bolsters, so I'm on the fence about that stockman. :rolleyes:
Thanks for the scrimshaw compliment, Dean. :)

I hope everone’s having a good weekend. I’m back to my usual choice today:

How's the horn holding up, Greg? Looking good! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Carrying this ole Beavertail 72 today.

Like the blade, the jigging, the shield, the fob; outstanding, Dave! :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks for the kind words, Gary....
The 79 Workhorse is a three spring so it is kind of heavy in the pocket. The Churchill is much more pocket friendly.

I have had the 99 in my pocket for the last couple days.

Thanks for the comparison; I didn't realize that 79 had 3 springs! That's an impressive spear blade on your 99! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Going solo today, just this one with me on grill duty :). Hope everyone is having a fine weekend.

Showing his stuff! ;):thumbsup::cool:

Sunday knife: A Clauss Barlow.

The name sounds familiar, but I sure don't remember seeing that lovely Barlow before, Dean! :cool::cool::thumbsup: Is it new (or am I old)? :rolleyes:

Dripping with class.

Last day 1000 miles from home. Enjoying another day with the TEW L.F.

Hope you all have a great weekend!View attachment 977732This groundcover is so cool. I am thinking of taking a little cutting back to Illinois.
That rehandled lambsfoot is a handsome devil, Jeff! :thumbsup::thumbsup:

Still enjoying this new one.

Nice work fellers (sorry Barrett, I must have dropped your post before) :) Free Lambsfoot for the first tattoo! :D :thumbsup:

Dylan & Jack, you're certainly trend-setters with your "Flora/Fauna" handle pairings! ;):cool::thumbsup:

Thanks GT :) :thumbsup:

Happy Labour Day to my US and Canadian chums :) :thumbsup:
