I have read about the pre 2009 Dave Shirley era Northwoods knives and wanted to check one out. They are pretty nice especially considering the relatively low cost. This muskrat is in Italian jigged bone. ...
Lotta knife, Lance!!
What-A-Knife, what a classic!!
Dylan & Jack, you're certainly trend-setters with your "Flora/Fauna" handle pairings!
Thanks for one of the keystone knives in the kollection!
Thanks, GT! Single blades have always been my favorite due to the overall thinness and ease of carry. Although I prefer a sheep’s foot, I don’t discriminate.![]()
Thanks, Jack; have to use a flash in my kitchen, which probably contributes to your perceptions!...
Blinding bunch GT!Thumbsup:
...
Such a variety of types of stag in that quartet, Ken!
My wife is really the one who dotes on pets/animals of any kind. Thanks, Gary! I think a pet under your care would be set for life!
...
Man, that denim micarta and spear point look fantastic!!
Congrats on the big Buck, MH!...![]()
This one since 12 today, bought from a pawn shop on my lunch break.
Couple of charmers, Wayne!Okay, a couple of Schrades for Schrade Saturday...

Thanks for the encouraging words and the testimonial!! You and your teacher did well.5K Qs
Not to get us to far off topic in this thread, keep up the sales pitch. Your doing good work for future generations. ... After many years I finally got a G.E.D. To all the teachers, keep up the good fight!
Happy Labor Day to you, Alan, and to all the other Forumites!!I saw it was delivered to the mailroom Gary. And knowing how that can go with a 3 day weekend I figured it was safely tucked away in some dusty old room. Happy Labor Day.
Even carrying this radically (blade & body) modded 92 has given me the opportunity to appreciate its virtues.

Thanks for sharing my enjoyment of the scrimshawed Rough Rider.... Seize the day, seize the Lambsfoot!![]()
I never tire of seeing that knife, always brings a smile to my face

I wonder what the Latin would be for 'Lambsfoot'?!![]()
I took 3 years of Latin in high school, but that ended in 1969 at the latest, so I totally approve of Barrett's approach! As a bit of a Latin scholar*, I believe the term would be something like "agnus pes" or "pes agnus."

Thanks, Joshua. Thanks Gary! I like your choice—it’s nothing if not formulaic.
Thanks, Greg.LOL, nope. Pure coincidence.
That’s a small detail of a blanket we brought back as a souvenir from Peru many years ago. It was sitting somewhere other than it’s usual place and as I walked by it I noticed the S-like shape and thought it’d make a good background.
Thanks for commenting and for your nice words. I know you carry your Euler knife everyday, but it’s always nice when it makes an appearance here.![]()
Thanks GT! I always enjoy seeing your scrimshawed RR. My knife is a Case medium stockman. It was originally chestnut jigged bone, but I tried my hand at Rit dying it to deepen the color. The mark side largely resisted my efforts, but the pile side turned out nice.

Thanks for the stockman IDs, @Spaten and Dean. Thanks, Gary! My stockman knives in the photos were: a 3.5 inch chestnut bone Case (63032) and a 3.25 inch dark red bone Case (6344) both with CV blades.
Your famous mathematical stockman is always a pleasure to see!

How's the horn holding up, Greg? Looking good!I hope everone’s having a good weekend. I’m back to my usual choice today:

Thanks for the comparison; I didn't realize that 79 had 3 springs! That's an impressive spear blade on your 99!Thanks for the kind words, Gary....
The 79 Workhorse is a three spring so it is kind of heavy in the pocket. The Churchill is much more pocket friendly.

I have had the 99 in my pocket for the last couple days.

Showing his stuff!
The name sounds familiar, but I sure don't remember seeing that lovely Barlow before, Dean!
That rehandled lambsfoot is a handsome devil, Jeff!Dripping with class.
Last day 1000 miles from home. Enjoying another day with the TEW L.F.
Hope you all have a great weekend!View attachment 977732This groundcover is so cool. I am thinking of taking a little cutting back to Illinois.
Congrats, that's a striking gunstock, D Dschal !Still enjoying this new one.

If you would like to view some great images and learn more about denizens of the Porch, take a look at my GAW thread. (Not this JD Ware!, but a nice vintage Northwoods nonetheless.) We have some incredibly interesting members.

I took 3 years of Latin in high school, but that ended in 1969 at the latest, so I totally approve of Barrett's approach! If we change "lambsfoot" to the possessive "lamb's foot", then I think the Latin would require the "genitive case", so Google suggests that "seize the day, seize the lamb's foot" (admittedly, not quite what we want
) could be expressed in Latin as "carpe diem, carpe agni pes".
