What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

...
I'm helping out a friend with his new house this afternoon (loads of work to do this morning too :( ), so thought I'd pocket these two, my AW rosewood Big 'Un, and a Vic Electrician :thumbsup:

That duo looks like just the ticket for your plans, Jack! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Today with an old Portuguese from MAM-Palaçoulo...

Looks like a venerable relic, and old friend, Senhor Pinto! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

I would say that’s a good assumption Gary! :thumbsup: :)
:thumbsup::D

...
I'd like to be retired NOW :cool::D:D

Thanks, Will
We humans tend to fall victim to "the grass is always greener ..." syndrome, Will! ;):rolleyes: You're working and wish you could retire now, and I'm retired (at least partially), but had planned to work for at least 4-5 more years. :confused:

It's Wooden Wednesday, and I'm carrying big and small.

Fantastic timber twosome, @r8shell ! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

Beautiful example of Portuguese knives!!;):thumbsup::thumbsup:
Thanks, Senhor Pinto. :)

I took my wife's car in for service and a recall check this morning. I had one of these in each pocket. :D ...

If I carried an opulent pair like that to have a car serviced, I'd worry that they'd stick me with excessive rates reserved for the rich and famous!! :eek::p:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Unique and attractive stag on your gunstock! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

Thanks GT, nice trio! While not included in this post, your pics of the case bone sodbuster have had me wondering for a while what those might be like in-hand, that I finally ordered one :).

These two Remingtons for me today.

Thanks, Tom. :) Looking forward to your SBJr reactions/impressions. :cool::thumbsup:
That's a revered pair of Remingtons!! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup: Even the rocks look especially good today! ;)

... I'm going to be outside totin' this 3 3/8" saddlehorn jack by J.B. Hodge (Huntsville, AL) in 154 CM and cocobolo.

Unusual, and unusually handsome, pattern, Stuart! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool: Looks like some kind of hybrid between a Barlow and a saddle horn, maybe. :rolleyes: Fantastic drop point blade, IMHO! I hope you enjoyed the sunshine. ;)

Some nice knives today!
My "Wooden Wednesday" carry.

Lovely ligneous Laguiole, Gary! ;):thumbsup::thumbsup:

...
Thank you, you smooth talker :D That's an impressive and diverse trio :thumbsup:
...
I rarely face THAT accusation, Jack! :D:D Thanks for the kind description of my knives. :)

Thank you, Gary! Stupendous stockman you're totin' :thumbsup:
...
...
Thanks, GT, and I remember that I was as impressed that you looked for information to help me ID my knife as I was by the info itself. Thanks, again. That Case stockman wins the whole rodeo, pardner.

Thanks for the high praise for my Case 6347, Dean & Stuart.:) I didn't really want that knife, but @The Fort had it as a package deal with a red bone single-spring canoe that I couldn't pass up; I'm now glad he talked me into it! :thumbsup::thumbsup:;)

Autumn knives today.

Beautiful pair, Dean, :cool::thumbsup::cool: but let's not rush the fall colors! :eek:;) I KNOW what comes right after fall! :(

View attachment 992782 I’m carrying two favorites today. Favorites because as pocket knives go, they are damned near perfect imo. But even more so because they were both gifts from fine porch denizens, @r8shell (L),
and @Chief (R). Thanks again, friends!

It looks like we had a major geologic event that left a new mountain range along the Illinois/Wisconsin line, but it’s just a spectacular t’storm. This was north of my house, and south of @Old Engineer‘s house.View attachment 992783View attachment 992784
Awesome pair of knives for both reasons you cited, Jeff; thanks for sharing the story! :):thumbsup::thumbsup: Impressive pics of the storm front! :cool::thumbsup:

Denim micarta gets me every time! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool: I have to see if I can find it on an "economy knife" of the type that characterizes my collection. ;)

Thanks Gary! ( 5K Qs 5K Qs ) It really doesn’t take much time at all to find the right background thanks to Google images. The hard part is coming up with fresh ideas that tie in to the knife.

The better question is, my friend, how long does it take you each day to comment on each of these postings? :D:cool:;)
Well, I sure appreciate your efforts, Ken! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:
Not really sure how long it takes me to make one of my "totin' today" posts. With the traffic volume in this thread, I've recently tried to limit my "quotes per page" to 2 or 3 (plus any posts that include a direct address to me :)), so making those choices takes some time; I usually scan through all the posts on each page in a first pass, and then go back to choose my 2 or 3 "favorites" (for whatever reason). Then I insert the multi-quotes into a reply, do some re-ordering sometimes to bring similar posts together, and type up my comments (and finally put in some of my carries for the week). This last stage is usually about 30 minutes, but the choosing stage is often spread out 5 minutes here, 10 minutes there throughout the day. Maybe an hour of fine entertainment/relaxation each day on average??

Thank you for your comments GT! I always enjoy reading them. Now that you’re retired and probably have more free time, your comments are going to get even more entertaining!:):thumbsup: And yes, I enjoy carrying that small but robust Fight’n rooster. I think it’s called a single blade sowbelly?
...
Thanks for the appreciation, Nick :), but I think you'll need to "manage your expectations" about the quality of my contributions going forward!! :D

Heading out early in the morning. Going to be carrying these two :) Hope everyone is having a good week :thumbsup:

92 and peanut today.

Another irresistible pair, Hugh! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup: (Even if your dog doesn't seem to share my opinion. ;))

I have been searching for this one for quite a while, 2010, Red Stag 72. Only 25 were made, and I was not certain I would be able to grab one.

Congrats on your successful search for that stunning model, Leslie! :thumbsup::cool::cool::thumbsup: I think almost any red stag knife is a major prize. Doesn't black mamba black mamba have one very similar to yours?

My Stag/Horn Knife of the Week is this GEC buffalo horn 85 (thanks, Paul), but my Lambsfoot of the Week is also horn (thanks, Jack):

Thanks, GT. I was pressed to identify the pattern and maybe "hybrid" is appropriate for a custom. The one somewhat similar to it for sale on the big auction site wasn't identified by pattern either. The sun was great, albeit brief.

All of your trio are fine choices, but that 85 looks robustly handsome. Any pics of it open?

I think this is my best mod... I really fought with it for a while getting the backsprings flush. I hardly ever carry it because of the bad association, but it actually came out nice. Been trying to downsize on knives and work my way up to (down to) leaving the house with a Vic Rambler...

Today with one more Portuguese, this is from the region of the West, made entirely in stainless steel and with a scrimshaw (engraving) in low relief by the craftsman Paulo Correia, it is a Trout and plants.
As you can see from the photos, it is a cutlery from 2010 (Lombo do Ferreiro)!
It is a small knife with length the 3 1/4" (8 cm).:) :thumbsup:

On the trail today...

GEC 15 Ancient spearpoint Barlow.

Case teardrop (don't worry, I tasted the mushroom - not poison) (the previous statement was a lie).

Case Swayback jack (my newest acquisition).

Dean, what do you think of the Sway Back vs the Tear Drop? I have the exact Tear Drop as you and like it. I've been looking at the SB and wondered if it's just too small? :confused:

I'm totin' this John Primble (Belknap Hdwe) English Jack with me as I go shopping for some new porter and stout supplies. Seems only fitting.

Thanks GT! Nice carries, the Muskrat looks to be lightweight but ready for duty. I'll carry the SBJ on it's maiden voyage tomorrow, I just checked the shipping status = "Delivered" :)
