Your collective shot of the Winterbottom from the other day set me thinking - Was there a Penknife-single-spring 2 blades pattern made in that sublime material too?

That Congress just purrs

I'll look in my knives,Will. If so, I'll post. Thanks, I really like the congress pattern as a pocket friendly knife, though this one is a bit on the robust side.

Come think of it, it’s a better label for us old guys, too.

Really digging the clawed bone you’ve been totin ‘n showin. Do you think some pieces of bone take dye differently, or do you think it was intentional? Either way, I like it. But no, the mark side is better.:D

Thanks, Jeff. I told my wife that, "I am a classic." She's still laughing. I think all bone takes dye differently depending on grain, prior cleaning and prep, heat of bath, and treatment after removal. But, I've never dyed anything other than some clothes in 1969, so I'm not an expert. I think that the hafting guys may have just finished a beer break when my model 32 was done. Nice covers from different mothers.

Good golly! Where is that?

That is quite a nice one. I'd love to get some old Queen knives in that condition.

Thanks, but it is simple serendipity, and I am very grateful for my stepfather's beneficence. I'll post them, though I'll try to moderate them, as three straight weeks of A Queen For A Day could be tedious.

Here is what I carried on the trail today with a shot of the creek included for context.

I couldn't see your pics for a while, Dean, but they were worth waiting for!:thumbsup::cool: The color of the bone on both knives is superb, and the scratted bone Ancient is always a joy to see!

Incredible. Just incredible. It so inspired me I jumped up and went to the back room... opened a box... and...and I will continue to enjoy your boxes Stuart. :D:D

Your picture is inspiring. I too went to the closet and opened a box...
Unfortunately all I found in there was a pair of my Wife's old shoes
:D:D Dwight & John, I admire the hope with which you mimicked Stuart's moves!:thumbsup:

Found this one buried in my knife chest and decided it needs some pocket time. Late '70s or early '80s Camillus 78 stockman.
Fantastic covers, Ken! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

A little Fun Friday
First-rate fun, John! ;):thumbsup: The "lariat font" on the BB gun stock is probably the reason I adore the blade etch on the GEC 66 Calf Ropers.

Delightful duo, Alan!:thumbsup::thumbsup: I especially like the drop point 25; that blade is quite similar to the Zulus you seem to favor! ;)

TGIF folks!
Picture is from my archives. Carrying the Ohta Wharncliffe today.
The little clip point, which now has a broken back spring, was just delivered to Mr. Ohta in Tokyo this morning, for repair.

Sublime knives, Gary!:thumbsup::thumbsup: I hope the operation is soon and successful, and that the convalescence is rapid! ;)

Nostalgia is half the pleasure of carrying this one, its the kind of knife we had as boys. Cheaply available in newsagents and ironmongers throughout England from the 50's to the 80s they have stood the test of time admirably. Apparently the ethos of the Richards company, by whom these and a range of other patterns were made, was the production of decent quality pocket knives affordable to everyone, man and boy alike. I've modified the hook disgorger/de-scaler into an awl on this one to make it more practical for everyday use, and the main spearpoint blade takes a great edge. :) Untitled by Blake Blade, on Flickr
Notable nostalgia, indeed, Blake!:thumbsup::thumbsup: Thanks for the pic and the thoughtful comments.

My Peanut-ish Knife of the Week, a Case chestnut bone CV Swayback Jack (thanks, Paul), isn't very peanut-like except for being a small 2-blade jack, but classifying it that way allows me to carry it more often! ;)
