Sam,

Just an update for you. You mentioned fixing the dings on my 85 after I dropped it. Well, I killed two birds with one stone. After the drop it had blade play that I didn't notice at first. I tried my hand at my first peening ever, unguided...I was nervous at first. It was a little more then the picture shows, but not too shabby for a first attempt! It is now perfecto!

Can't beat a user that you really can work on :)

Wow! That is brave, I've peened the end of a billhook handle but that's meant to look as rough as a duck's proverbial. Never anything as delicate as that. Not wishing to hijack the thread would you mind emailing me details on how you got the finish back once you had finished peening (buffing etc...)? I've gently squeezed the bolsters on loose knives but been left with the pivot pin showing and things would return back to looseness with time so peening is obviously the answer.

Good job!

Sam

Thanks guys! All I know is the hammers are part of a much larger set that my grandpa left me. He had a full metal working and woodworking shop and even made jewelry :)

I could only hope to end up with as much skill as he had in his pinky.

Sam, email in a few :)

Looks like a good job to my eye. No rush, it's the weekend:)

Man that thing looks good! I want one of those so bad. Well done, sir. Those pictures are fantastic!

I finally got my 309 the way I like it after about an hour on the DMT hones. I'm torn between it and my Peanuts, I didn't like it much at first but it's grown on me.

Thanks, Richstag! About 1/2 an hour, a belt sander, a half round file, and anyone can have one!

Had a change up in my EDC lately, started packing my Italian stiletto, which has kicked my Kiridashi out of my backpocket, my Case 6375CV has also kicked any of my secondary knives out, but I'm still packin the Camillus #51B, can't seem to replace this lil guy ;)
