Rachel, a city squirrel would be as safe to eat as a country squirrel; your issue would be that most towns and cities are wildlife sanctuaries so taking them would be illegal.

JB, Fox Squirrels have done well enough in eastern NC that they have recently been put back on the game list in most counties (used to be very restrictive). I’m a NCWRC Wildlife Cooperator, which means I record all animals I see while hunting and send the info in annually. The WRC uses the info, along with their staff biologists study data, to adjust seasons - Fox Squirrels and Black Bear are proliferating here now.

Monday's carry is back to a Case 18 Medium Stockman. OH

Nice Case. I don't recall seeing a fox squirrel here in many years. The are plentiful enough to hunt in the midlands, sandhills, and low country but are protected on WMA's. Grays are aggressive. Fox squirrels prefer more open habitat, they do really well in managed longleaf pine forests. The little Reds I see in the mountains when I trout fish are aggravating little rascals, they aren't worth shooting since they taste like pine needles :D

We have quite a few black bears here, one treed near my late mother's house about two blocks from town. I think most are young ones driven out of the foothills. We had a decent sized Elk wandering around here last year, pretty far from GSMNP. He created quite a stir. I don't recall if they darted him or he left on his own.

Bone bonanza, Tom; that pair of handsome folders is really well-matched!:cool::thumbsup:

I think I've already posted pics of all the knives I've been carrying since last Monday, so I'll show the folders that are almost always on my kitchen counter.

I'm even more prolix than usual today ;) confined to quarters after a nasty accident last night at the country place. Just leaving, pitch dark and had no torch (f.light) with me heading towards the gate. Tripped over a bench fell face down in granite flints:eek: cut open the cheekbone, lots of blood but bruised 2 ribs cracked another  Driving back was 'challenging' If I cough, laugh or move it's agony...face looks like I've had a punishment battering too :D All my fault, he who thinks he can see in the total dark, knows nothing....:(
Sounds like a horrible experience!:( I hope you have a short recuperation period, Will! I may have to reconsider my winter strategy of walking bent forward from the waist, figuring that falling forward if I hit an icy patch is safer than falling backward. (Thanks for teaching me a new word: prolix.;))

I've got this pair today.

These two have developed nice patinas (not forced-honest).
Heading to a recording studio today to record some guitar tracks, so the knives are going to be in a leather slip so they don’t clunk on the back of the guitar.
Another desirable duo, Jeff!:thumbsup::thumbsup: Are you going to treat us to a sample of your recording sometime? :)

Striking photo with the blade and the rock so close in color!:cool::cool:

You're posting some ravishing red bone lately, Paul!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I truly hope you’re ok, but your story should’ve started like this.....

So there I was, investigating the strange beast outside with my favorite Kellam in my teeth. In the darkest hour of the night the beast jumped me. We battled for what seemed like hours but I was victorious. I hoisted my knife high above my head and let out a war cry, as a warning to all others that may challenge....”

That’s a story we could get behind:D:D:D
You have a vivid fantasy life, @315! :D:thumbsup::thumbsup:

I posted this else where but figured I'd throw it up here too. My 54 Big Jack that my lovely wife got me as a gift.
