What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Attractive year-end pairing, Dean! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Monday is the day I rotate my knives for the week, so the ones I loaded up today will see the end of 2018 as well as most of the first week of 2019.
A Vic Cadet II is my Alox knife this week (thanks, Ken);

That is a very attractive slimline trapper, Gary!

Beautiful BB, Will, The chestnuts bring out the hint of brown in the covers.

They would be appropriate (and appreciated) on any day, Ron.

It is my understanding that, although Queen started making molds of their Winterbottom covers for use with Delrin in the early 1960s, they did not fully convert from bone handles to Delrin until 1968. So yours is pre-1968, at least. Here's my #10 heavy jack from that same period with a #15 half congress from 1958-1960, both in bone.

Thanks for the added info !

I greeted the New Year with optimism and expectation as my son, a buddy, and I sat in our duck blind yesterday morning. We were met with a beautiful sunrise, a fair breeze - and a balmy 60°. We saw ducks loafing in far away coves, but none flying. Still, it was a good morning together and we have a few weeks of duck season left. Deer season ends this weekend, so I may be in abstensia for a few days (depending on the weather). This was the view in the blind yesterday, with my Case 048 slim-line trapper and Daniel Cannady small game knife sitting idle in the background.

Best of luck on getting a deer and some ducks !

Thanks. I feel better now. :cool:
It's been like that since I bought it second hand. I'm not sure there's a difference between a deep wrinkle and a crack. I just looked at it with a 10X loupe and it hasn't progressed or run into the bolster. I'll keep an eye on it just to be sure. Another way to look at is it matches my wrinkles which I can't do anything about.
My inbox isn't full this time. It shows only 38 messsges used.

Thank you Stuart, what's interesting is that some of the BB knives do actually have a lighter shade of brown, more chocolate than near black. The Whittler, Mini Gunstock and Swell Centre Pens that I use&carry are like this, they have backups that are very dark.

That Half Congress is for me, one the the best knives on the Forum:cool: And yet there's no lack of serious competition either, just a reminder of how remarkable some knives are :thumbsup: Think you could show it with the blades closed please? Once you've left the hunting zone;)

Regards, Will

Code Green is soooo much better than Code Blue.

So it was almost a sad day. While I was walking my dog I thought "hey that looks like a nice sunny spot to take another knife pic" So I pull my knives out of my pocket and walk to the sunny spot...... Then I realize that one of my knife slips is EMPTY!!! My 2016 Bladeforums 35 Drover is LOST !!!:eek:
I search, retrace my steps, go back to that fence post that I took the last pic at, retrace my steps again, NOTHING! By now the dog is just confused and thinks I am even more crazy than she thought I was before. So I mark the spot I think I may have dropped it with a stick and impromptu flag, take the dog, her name is Rilley, back home, grab every magnet I can quickly find (2, I need more magnets) and head back to the levee. I start searching, walking in circles dragging my magnets that I had quickly tied to paracord, cussing at sticks that snagged my paracord, throwing those sticks in the river after cussing them some more. There where some homeless guys camped across the river watching me, probably thinking I was crazy, just like Rilley ( my dog ) does, but I don't care!! I lost my dang Forum knife and I am going to find it!!!! After about 15- 20 min. I hear CLICK... WOOOOO HOOOOO IT'S MY KNIFE!!!! WHO'S CRAZY NOW?!!!
Well probably me...but I found my knife! :D
HAPPY 2019 Y'ALL!

See the dog in my avatar? I have him trained to find my lost valuables.

Yeah, sure.:D

I got back on a vessel today at cannelton lock and dam in Indiana, south bound on the Ohio. Hope everyone has a terrific 2019

Good to see your post, Willard. That's a capital Washington harness jack. Are you heading down to the Big River? Fair seas and following winds, pal.

Spending another day with the #99.

Nice package.

Stuart your hunting is starting to sound like my fishing. Lot of fishing, not much catching. Or, my knife hobby. Lot of carrying, not much using.

Given the weather, I'd been better off fishing, Alan. Hope springs eternal!

Best of luck on getting a deer and some ducks !

Thanks, Steve.

Today’s carries supervising the pending butchery of a couple of pieces of elk antler to hoprefully fit this poor old Sodbuster...

Can't wait to see it, Jeff.

@flatblackcapo ~

Glad you persisted and found your knife.
I’ve lost two. The first was a heartbreaker. Back in the early ‘80s, I’d saved up and mail ordered a beautiful Puma belt knife- Hunters Companion.
Deer hunting in the Ozarks way back in the woods behind Grandma’s place, I put my hand on the sheath and found it empty.
I looked for hours, but the leaves were down and it was hopeless. So I hung the sheath on a sapling hoping that whoever found the knife would have a sheath for it.
About 10 years ago, I had taken to carrying modern one hand opening knives with pocket clips.:oops: Clearing brush along my back fence, some grapevine or raspberry bush must have relieved me of my Cold Steel Gunsite folder. Again, looked but never found it. Until this fall while getting rid of some invasive plants.
It cleaned up fairly well, being stainless, but who cares- it’s not a traditional slipjoint.:thumbsup:

Yes sir, we are going to load one of these empty barges with ethanol in Mt Vernon Indiana and take it to the lake in Memphis to discharge. Thank you for your kind comments. I certainly like the composition of that shot! The RR looks like it's emerging from a web or chrysalis :cool: The bone gives a strange eerie look :thumbsup:

The Burlap looks exceptional, a tough yet very beautiful material:thumbsup:

Thanks, Will
Thanks Will,
That little RR ticked allot of boxes for me, the great color and the nice sawcut was one of them. Plus I really like copper so those bolsters and liners are the bees knees imo. That's one of the first pics of the burlap micarta that I'm actually happy with. It has such rich color and depth in hand, but is hard to photograph for me. GEC would do well to use that material more often I think.
