Happy Black Friday All...
Appealing 78, John!

I'm not much of a micarta fan, but that black micarta is more than just OK.
Case rough black (gum fuddy) humpback stockman.

Standout knife, Alan; the spearpoint main on the humpback stock knives is a real draw for me!

These two, hot dog shields and natural micarta.

That 82 is a shapely slicer, Taylor!

Striking patina and wood on that one, Dave!

The Camillus is my constant companion for the time being.
But I have to admit that the Remington scout is sitting on my work desk today, so I can admire it. For two knives of identical pattern, size, cover type and being of similar vintage, they elicit far different emotional reactions. I would describe the Camillus as solid, strong, capable and useful. The Remington is artful, wondrous, lovely and somehow grounding. I receive joy from using the Camillus in all of my daily duties. I feel gratitude for having the privilege of inspecting and handling the Remington, something I'm not used to experiencing in my knife collecting. One is a superlative tool. The other is simply a masterpiece. One piece helps me to understand who I am. The other gives me a glimpse of who I might someday become.
...
Great post, Buzz; articulate and even poetic ("having an imaginative or sensitively emotional style of expression")!

Old Friends Friday : These 2 TEW's are Old and I do carry them a lot . Sheepfoot and Lambfoot...They are both in my pockets today
Harry
Old friends are the best friends, Harry; tremendous TEWsome!

That hog takes the blue ribbon, Stuart!

Thanks GT, I spent many hours and many quarters in arcades in the '80s. ... This machine brings back a little of that nostalgia

. Terrific group of knives you have there, especially the colonial

...
At least you were a kid in the arcades, Tom; I was old enough to know better!

Thanks for noting my knives.

Your blue Farmer and Plow make a memorable couple!

I sure like your taste in knives, Steve!

Today with Case mini trapper in stag...
Exemplary stag, Senhor José!

Bullish on the lambsfoot.
Great pic, Vince!

I like that statue, and that's no bull.
While wandering around the (jigged) bone pile, I found this little old slim fella and decided to give him some pocket time. He, the sowbelly and I will be ready to greet my Friday afternoon group at our local watering hole this afternoon. A Schatt & Morgan barehead jack from 1902-1928.
...
Getting good pics was tough today in the flat light of an approaching storm front.
- Stuart
Despite the conditions, you prevailed, Stuart. Awesome shots of that superb jack you discovered!

Holey clip blade, Dee, your Scagel is scandalously spectacular!

These were back on trapper Tuesday, carried in my Mr. Rogers rig.
That Mackinac Bridge trapper is especially cool, Jer!

What's a Mr. Rogers rig? A cardigan sweater with a knife in each pocket?
... Lots of driving - my father in law is in the hospital. He’s got an irregular heartbeat. Hopefully they can regulate the tachycardia because that causes clots which cause strokes.
Should be ok, but when you’re in your 80s, it’s concerning.
That’s very kind, Mitch. Happily, he’s home tonight, and feeling good
Hey! Lookit that Sailor!

I love that.
I like TL29s, for sure. The attraction started first with camper/scout knives, then Swiss Army knives. Having utility tools and blades is just so handy.
That hard use screwdriver blade with a scraper takes care of all the ugly jobs that you wouldn’t (or shouldn’t) use a nice blade for.
The Dick Butkus of pocket knives

And the best bang for my limited buck, too.
Glad to hear that your father-in-law is back home, Jeff.

Thanks for explaining why you're so drawn to the TL-29; makes sense to me, and I can kind of relate to the "evolution" you describe.

I have several electrician knives (Camillus, Boker USA, Colonial, Rough Rider, Holub), but because I always carry a SAK, I've thought about turning the screwdriver of at least one of the electrician knives into a shorter cutting blade, like a sheepsfoot or coping blade.
Thanks for noticing that sailor knife; the angle of the pic is obviously misleading about the size of that blade.
...
Let’s see. Classic gentleman’s pen knife in your pocket, in line at the buffet by 4:30 for the senior’s discount, falling asleep by eight...

We’re gettin old, my friend.

Wait! There's a senior discount at the buffet at 4:30??

Oh, never mind; that's when I usually go to the gym.

Can't argue with your conclusion about getting old, but I've been an early to bed, early to rise guy my entire life - can't seem to shake that habit from growing up on a dairy farm.
Alan, I ordered a Case and when I got the invoice, I realized I inadvertently scooped up a three blade version in CV. ...
I think that's a "mistake" you won't regret at all, Dylan!

Thanks GT! Eh that would be two many choices

It's cool to see the different preferences and tastes folks have here!
For the Twelfth Day of Christmas (Jan. 5) and for Epiphany, also known as el Día de los Reyes (Jan. 6).
Another cool pic of your stag lambsfoot, Vince!

4 years ago today, I was visiting my daughter in Spain, and we took a bus from Denia to Valencia. We tried to take a cab from the Valencia bus station to the hotel where we'd reserved a room, but the guy could only get us to within about 3 blocks because of a huge Kings' Day Eve parade! It was a challenge to fight our way through the crowds, with each of us dragging a suitcase along. I was amazed at how big a holiday Kings' Day was in Spain!
Highly handsome Swayback Jack!

...
Thanks pal, I've not had a RR with those fancy bolsters yet (though I've had similar Colt knives)

Nice Anchor Knife too

...
Hope everyone has a great weekend, I'm pocketing these two today
Ironwood lambsfoot and Abbeydale Jack are a grand pair, Jack!

Thanks for mentioning my "whimsy picks".

The carbon steel is a departure for Rough Rider, so I wanted to check it out, and I'm quite impressed with the two I ordered.
