Thanks, it’s one of my favorites. The 74 stallion is a black beauty
That's a classic jackknife!
Dave, you don't need anything new for this thread; this is to show what you're carrying today, even if you've carried it (and maybe posted it here) 3000 times before!Thank you John!I'm getting to the point now, where I don't have anything new to show. This retirement stuff cuts into a fellows knife budget.
Nope. I went to art school.
It's very cool that you see things like that, though.![]()
Thanks for sharing the comparison, Kevin.I've read the newer models pale in comparison to the original Brown Mule, the one I have is a crazy well made knife![]()
Thanks, I appreciate your recommendations, Vince....
Well, I could go on and on about baseball, but this ain't the forum for that! Just wanted to answer your question.
Interesting to learn about traditions with which I have little experience.I saw some of those cakes at a Mexican bakery yesterday when I was getting some pan dulce (sweet bread) for my mother. I think it's big in many Latin American countries, and I do live not too far from the Mexican border. Some friends from Puerto Rico told us that children receive gifts on this day, usually in their shoes under their bed, if I recall correctly. The parents also may scatter hay around--camels' food maybe--to make it appear the three kings were there.
Yeah, I heard the jubilation was fairly widespread....Thanks, GT, and you aren't the only happy one.
There is comfort in continuity, GT. I like seeing your constant contingent.

Thanks for the info about that striking knife, Dwight.GT it's sterling silver and made by Empire. I'm always on the hunt for advertising/souvenir knives. Got this one off the big auction site.
Thanks, Jack; I enjoy using my higonokami, but am wary of pocket-carrying it. Premium pair in your pockets!Great to see all of those GT, I'd forgotten about your Higo - almost forgot about mine too!![]()
...
Thanks for the info, sir! That maple wood is very attractive, and I find sowbelly stock knives irresistible. Thanks GT!It is a Sowbelly in Black Curly Maple Wood. It was literally the last knife I bought last year, but came in the mail in 2019, so I have no bought any knife this year...yet

Thanks for some insight into the "football follies", John....
The knife did its best to cheer me up. Actually, with how this season was supposed to go I was pleased with just making it to the playoffs. I think it spells some success going forward into next year. I am now rooting for the Chargers as I would like to see Rivers get a Superbowl ring after all his accomplishments.
Dean, I appreciate your regular remakrs on the knives I post here....
Thank you, Gary! A veritable cornucopia of desirable knives you've presented today.

Clever pic, John!
Hey! Congrats on the auspicious asta autentica,
Mark, you captured the Stag perfectlyNice choices.
The mini copperhead is a good one. I have also been carrying my Buck forum knife everyday, along with something else.

Indeed it did.
Sounds like me and basketball. I used to watch every single Kings game, either on TV or in person. Then the Maloofs ruined it for me and I haven't watched a single game in years. But maybe my enthusiasm for football will catch on and we can get you to sit through the whole Superbowl. If nothing else you can enjoy the silly commercials. Not sure how I lost my passion for the game. 30 years ago, I probably watched at least 2 college games each Saturday and at least 2 pro games each Sunday. Last season, I think I watched the first half of the Super Bowl.![]()

And why not my Case trapper, as well?

Thanks very much Dylan, stellar pair, I love the jigging on that bone and the striking colour![]()
That stag is truly exceptional. I can’t stop looking at your picture.
Thanks, Dylan. I think you'll like your Case Barlow. Gorgeous photo of your stag and lamb knives!![]()
Like @T.Erdelyi above, I'd also like to report a Random Act of Knife Gifting.
Just before Christmas, out of the blue, I get a PM from @r redden asking for my mailing address and telling me he wants to send me something. This was a big--but pleasant!--surprise.
Yesterday evening I checked my mailbox, and found a small box from Randy. Opening it, I discovered three knives.
The first one I unwrapped was a small Winchester knife:

This is a neat little tool that fits in a watch pocket, and can supplement larger knives.
The second was a Buck:

This is a cool little lockback, reminiscent of a small lockback knife I EDC'd for years. Cool looking camo handle, too.
The last one I opened was a GEC 15[!!!]:

This one REALLY blows me away! What a fantastic gift! I had not yet acquired a GEC slipjoint, but was looking forward to, having seen so many beautiful specimens on the Traditional Forum. What a perfect knife, from blade size, shape, and material (1095), to handle shape and material (ebony!). If I were trying to narrow down my choices for a first GEC folder, this might well have been the one I would have chosen.
2019 is not a week old, and I already have three new knives!
Anyway, just wanted to acknowledge Randy's kindness and generosity here.
Thanks again, Randy, and may 2019 be a great year for you! God bless you.

Thank you JB. If I had angled the picture a bit more west you would have seen the vacant Oceanana Pier (Hurricane Florence got the end). I stopped by to see what progress on repairing her had been made - reopening on Easter Sunday. Think I will attend the sunrise service at Fort Macon, then attend the reopening of the Oceanana that day - so glad to see the pier is coming back - down to two on Bogue Banks now.
Monday morning, new work week and I've got a three day road trip for work, so I'm back to the Blue Barlow for a few days. OH

You guys ever see one like this in jigged bone?

This one is a 1979 Appaloosa.

Indeed it did.Actually, both the lockback and the slipjoint had stickers. (it should be no surprise that I couldn't decide between them, and so ordered both)

I think that's a "mistake" you won't regret at all, Dylan!![]()
