Your Marbles workman trapper is different and a good looking knife, Gary.![]()
Thanks, Dean.
Stuart, I can certainly relate to your struggles!Good golly, it is a struggle for me to keep up with this thread, even just to offer simple thank-yous, much less to laud the fine knives being posted.
...
GT, I agree with Harry (@Old Engineer) and Vince (Prester John ) that a folding hunter is a desirable addition, but not essential, unless you ARE A HUNTER or need one to complete a collection theme. ...

I love my Black Cat, and would certainly be interested in a smaller version as well!Back to lockback. By the way, I wish Otter would make smaller version of this one with the same lock. ...

Thanks, Jack....

Great shot, John!Skoll was a little jealous that I carried the Rosewood yesterday, so Skoll is getting his turn...
I named this knife Skoll after the fabled wolf that chases the sun through the sky. If you look at the pattern in the grain, you can clearly see the image of a wolf in there. Not to mention the wood glows brightly when in the sunlight.![]()

Maybe to promote conversation, you could skip the hypotheses, and just put the conclusion on the knife.Hmm...gonna need a bigger knife.
Thanks,Thanks GT
I be a happy knife-nut
Nice AG Russell canoe there![]()

... Now let’s all have a good weekend, alright? Even those of us who have a social obligation that’s going to suck up the better part of two days like a monstrous deep space black hole.
I gots me things to do- guitars to work on and play- important things- and I gotta sit around and chit chat? Not even a fellow knife knut to swap lies with either!![]()
High-class historic pruner, Dwight!
What an iconic pair of knives, Buzz!Vic OC Pioneer and Case Tribal Lock again. Have I mentioned yet, how much I love this Tribal Lock?Such a great knife. I'm starting to get used to the size, and finding that it really fits my style. The blade isn't as alarming in size as the GEC #43, so it's a bit more people friendly, but still has a nice sized handle for tougher chores.

...
Thanks for the pro tips, Buzz!... If I can, I'll simply strop off the burr, using my old leather bench strop, treated with BRKT green compound. But if the burr is stubbornly persistent, I'll take the blade to an India stone for a few swipes, alternating sides until the burr falls off.
... It's important to fix the tip by removing metal from the spine instead of the cutting edge. It's a lot less work, looks much better, and doesn't mess up the cutting edge.
Amazing photo, Harvey!!
Your two knives must bring you much joy, José!!Today with the Guardians "19" and Victorinox pioneer kingfisher!

I always enjoy this photo of your SamDamLamb, Jack!
Kilo-keen edge, Tom!Posting a little late in the day, but I received an upgrade to my wicked edge sharpener in the mail today, and wanted to wait until I tried it out. ... These are the results from a 40 degree inclusive edge on a Shuffler.

VERY happy with the results![]()
Superb Sabre, Stuart, and salutary service to your late friend's family!I am preoccupied this weekend helping the family of a very good buddy, who passed last September, settle his estate....

You just reminded me that I have one, had to try and find it though. Unfortunately, I don't fish that much anymore and when I do, it's with an early baitcaster Daiwa Magforce. My mom paid $7 for that reel, and a rod, at a garage sale over 20 years ago. I’ll offer double that to anyone with a good 300I grabbed the Spartan yesterday, mostly because it was the closest one to my keys.
Been carrying this Case 63032 today - it got used on this busy Saturday, lots of projects (finish sand and apply poly to an oak handrail for the stairway, remove an old light fixture and hang a new light fixture in the dining room, clean a couple of revolvers, managed to fish a bit early this morning before sunrise) - man I'm ready to shower and bed down! OH![]()
I got up this morning before 6:00 am and drove 170 miles to get some things from our daughters Town Home near Nashville. I spent about a half hour there and turned around and drove the 170 miles back home so I could eat lunch with my wife!I started out with this Ebony #73 Scout in my pocket. After lunch I switched to the Stag #35 Churchill to fulfill my Saturday requirements! I hope everyone has had a good day!

I'm thinking about putting a giant squid on the pile side.
![]()
![]()
I'm searching for a good image to use, but squids look pretty difficult to do well. (and I'm afraid if I mess up, it'll look like something not-so-family-friendly, if ya know what I mean)![]()
Thanks. I guess I've been trying to think of something other than a whaling ship, partly because it's a bit of a cliche, and because of similar feelings about whales. I want a more peaceful vibe.A beautiful endeavour, skilled
For the Pile side, perhaps an Old School compass? Initially I thought maybe a harpoon but somehow I've always felt repelled by Whale hunting, a creature that's been around longer than us, having a superior brain/communication system and living a life of harmony & contentment. We could learn a lot if we tried... How about a sea-bird of some kind? Albatross, maybe a Shark ?![]()
Loving the long, sweeping clip-point on that fishtail... Bowie-like...As some of you saw in my Beverages post last night, the family of my late buddy found some of his pocket knives while we were cleaning out his house the past few days. I didn't know that he had any, and he never carried them for the 20 or so years that I knew him. They knew that I like knives (the fixed blade on my belt may have been a clue) so they gave these to me yesterday, from the top: Schrade 108OT (1946-1973), Case 051 Fishtail lockback with Pakkawood covers (P1051 1/2 L SSP, 1986), and a Craftsman 95075 lockback. These are as they found them, and they are incredibly sharp (and I know that he couldn't sharpen a knife). I'm totin' all three today.

We also found these two puzzling pieces. I thought that they were leather punches, until one of his nephews mentioned that my buddy worked summers during his early college days (he ended up with a Phd in history) installing HVAC ducting. Bingo! They are sheet metal scribing tools, one factory made (with replaceable tip), one handmade.

A nice afternoon here, Ray. The sun broke thruWoods walking today so as always on my belt was my Henri Tikkanen Puukko and as accompaniment - cause 2 knives are always better than one - I was carrying Cedrick the Ettrick. A pretty pair.
Look at the color developing on the birch bark handle.

An otherwise nearly rainy day - some might consider a bleak day - here in the mid-coast but brightened up considerably by an extending sighting of a Scarlet Tanager and it's mate. They were as curious about us as we were of them. This was the very 1st time I have seen one in Maine - though I had seen one ONCE in Connecticut.

Maybe a lighthouse.
Jonathan Livingston Seagull?I like the idea of sea birds in flight. Just a thought.
