I know that just about every one says this is the best about something. But I swear to you, if an Italian Beef/Sausage Combo is your thing, then go to Johnnie’s in Elmwood Park, IL. None better.

Never been there, but I’m sure it’s a great place. That whole area as you travel south on River Rd. Is dotted with these gems. That’s a tasty image, Jeff.My favorite, when I was in your area is not too far away...

I'm not sure, I'll check when I get home. It is fairly new and was unused, although I got it at a flea market. It has dark brown delrin covers, they end up looking black in pics though. I bought a klien 3 blade today that has an almost unused spear but the bench grinder been used heavy on the hawkbill. And a Camillus navy camp style utility, that the covers have shrunk and cracked. The Camillus has some major gaps and looseness going on. But it has a long bladed caplifter screwdriver. Bought them to mod, probably make a frankenknife. Frame and spear from the klien, caplifter from the Camillus. Use the leftover Camillus parts to make a 2 blade jack. Pics later of today's finds, got a wood covered Camillus tl29 with a faint USMC stamp on the cover that's in really good shape![]()
Well so far I've pulled apart the Camillus navy camp knife, cleaned the parts and done a dry fit of the parts I'm reusing on it. Which isn't to difficult considering I'm basically taking one layer off. But I'm learning lots, and that if I do many of these mods I'm going to have to make a jig to get the spring back in. Going to take down the klien tomorrow and see where I'm at on fitting everything. I posted pics in the newest traditional thread, but here's one of the Camillus that's definitely NOT being moddedI am anxious to see how you do in mixing parts from different makers. I have had a hard time doing that due to each manufacturer having different blade/ spring geometry. I have a medium Camillus stockman that was in bad shape. The main blade had completely worn away where it rides on the spring, so it just flopped around. I had hoped to use a slightly bigger Schrade ciip blade, but where it contacts the spring, it’s a totally different shape.
If you unlock the secret, let me in on it!
Hope we get to see the Camillus TL-29. Love those knives!
Very nice pair!!! Did the Camillus start life as a TL-29?Today’s pair is a couple of re-works.
Lovely Catt and a wonderful image!A memory of wholeness ever in your present moment
Great knife for some great eat'n! That image gave me a Pavlovian response!I know that just about every one says this is the best about something. But I swear to you, if an Italian Beef/Sausage Combo is your thing, then go to Johnnie’s in Elmwood Park, IL. None better.![]()
Thank you very much Gary!Your Catts have a jigged bone bonanza going on!![]()
Great looking couple! That's cool you have worked out a "carry system"In addition to the various categories of knives I carry each week as dictated by my rotation schedule, I usually carry 1 or 2 "free choice" knives each week as well. These are often knives that are too new to be on the current 45-week schedule, or knives that I just want to carry "on a whim". Here are the "free choices" I made for this week.
