What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Confucius - that is an awesome knife and photo!

Deadfall - it is sad when you meet and spend time with good folks you know you will never meet again. Its a sad feeling, but always glad to have gained the experience.

Don't get me wrong, I love this knife also. I guess what I miss most is partly what confucius mentioned. My 85 I could close one handed very easily. The feel is more of the resistance and smooth feedback. The walk and talk and snap. I really like the feel of a smooth strong slipjoint. The lockback has its own feel that is glorious in its own right but slightly less enjoyable. All that it means is I won't open and close it endlessly just because it feels so nice :)
 
Also, I'm on my drive back so I'm a little braindead. Taking a stop right now. I forgot, I carry it in my right front pocket. No different feel in my pocket than my stag 73 single blade. The 85 was a feather and very pocket friendly though so it doesn't compare to that.

One thing I did realize is that as much as people joke about NOT using a knife half open or anything like that... I found this week I used just the tip of this knife with the blade only slighlty open. I could control it much better. Weird, but I found myself doing it for little thing like pill wrappers and such.
 
Very understandable, I too feel somewhat less satisfied with working the blade on a traditional with a lock. Though my Electrician's knife is a linerlock, I feel that it lacks that same satisfaction that you mentioned whilst closing the blade. It does have that perk of not being tempted to open and close it all of the time :thumbup:
The main blade on my SBJ has been worn down so much that is feels substantially weaker relative to what it was new because of that. The half stop is not as prominent and it doesn't snap like it used to. On the bright side, it just goes to show how much I use it!

I find myself doing the partially open cutting routine as well, especially with packages at home. I also used my Opinel that way when snapping my dog's pain medication for her; small world, eh?

Thank you for the feedback by the way, I just found one on that link you sent me. I just hope I can convince my folks to let me purchase this guy since they have to credit card; I easily have the required funds, but they think I am a nutter for purchasing a knife every couple of months.

I posted above about carrying since I forgot initially.

I haven't carried a knife in my back pocket in 10 years when I lost my favorite slipjoint.

Front pocket always so I can always make sure its still there easily or tuck it under my wallet.
 
Agreed, but that argument has somewhat lost its ability to justify my actions it seems. I must say I am sorry for your loss, I cannot say what it would feel like to loose your favorite slippy...I will take that into consideration.

I digged out the Stockman for getting back some older times, when I carried this one for more than nine months as my only EDC.

I gonna change the EDC-setup when I go out with my wife this evening for dinner... we (in Bavaria / Germany) have a holiday tomorrow, see the setup on the "Traditional and Modern Pairings, if interessted... :)

I'm toting the Case Med Stockman/Toothpick combo today.
The Stockman broke down some cardboard boxes at work.

I really need to work on taking a better photo. Just don't have the time quite yet.

The rains have returned and so has the Buck 301. The Peanut is still novel and carried. The GEC 23 stag is getting that polished look from everyday pocket carry.
