What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

For Two Trapper Twosday, I'm totin' a pair of Case 07s - an elder and a young 'un.

Those older Case Jack Knives are just phenomenal, aren't they?

Those two make a good team John
Thanks, Jack. :)
I completely agree, a Peanut and a Lamb work well together.

An eerie (in a good way) knife occurrence:

Yesterday, I went to take the training wheels off of my kid’s bike. Remembering that there was a small wrench in my late grandfather’s bicycle seat bag, I decided to grab that for the task since it was close by.

My grandfather was a pretty avid cyclist, not for speed, or even exercise really, but for leisure. He criss-crossed much of the northeast on bike, cycling to visit his four daughters who had spread out with their families. His bike is a little small for me, so it rarely gets used, but I keep it with the other bikes we have.

It came as quite a surprise to me when I opened his bag, and Unrolled his rag, to reveal a well travelled Imperial Barlow! I had gone through the bag before, remembering the other tools, but I have no recollection of the knife being there...which I would expect would have been the first thing I noticed.

Anyways, it’s just nice to think that my grandfather was with us for our first two-wheeled ride.

Great photo and story, Mike. That knife is a genuine treasure.:thumbsup:

Not only a beautiful composition, but that Ram's Horn is magnificent:cool: Been after one for ages in dark horn, especially Spear....

Even if you don't bag anything on your trip, the knives alone will make for a worthwhile time.

Regards, Will

Thanks Will! Much appreciated.

Beautiful photo, love the nice even patina all over, in the handles too!

Killer stock knife Paul!

Awesome pair, both are nice but the bone on the Camillus? is just perfect! Great autumn colors too.

Toting this new to me Challenge teardrop.

Thanks and sweet new acquisition !

Love the dual spearpoint canoe
Have Mercy!!:) I consider myself something of a "canoesseur", but I've never seen one like that before!:thumbsup::cool:

...
Thank you for your answer and kind comments, Gary. :) Those are two terrific knives that are part of your carry this week.:thumbsup:
Thanks for "good-mouthing" my knives, Dean. :)
Your John Deere teardrop is definitely an attractive knife!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

...
Since you point it out...maybe you're supposed to do the descaling with the blade in the closed position? o_O
...
That makes SO much more sense! I was imagining the blade tending to close as one put pressure on its "spine".

First, thanks for your kind, encouraging, and humorous comments, not just to me and mine, but to everyone.

Regarding alox SAKs, I dunno. I think they all look great, and have followed some on the auction site. But they’re inexplicably spendy compared to the humble regular old ones. If I have to choose between looks and function...

One of these days I might go for winds and throw caution to the broke, and bid on an alox farmer or pioneer.

Seems like the selection in stores around here is slim pickings. And speaking of that, a search of Case dealers on their website shows that the one by you that yielded your new barlow is the closest Master Dealer to me!
...
I appreciate your opinion, Jeff. :)
"Old" Alox seems crazy expensive, especially for colors other than silver. But there are some dealers who have reasonable prices, IMHO, for new silver (and occasionally colored) Alox models. But Alox models definitely cost more than comparable celidor SAKs.
That Case Master Dealer up by the Mackinac Bridge is 200 miles from me! Not likely to go there to browse, but we do travel that way once each year, so maybe it will become a tradition. I think the only other Master Dealer in MI is over toward Detroit, still over 100 mi away.

...
This German whittler for me today.
Nick, Das Schnitzmesser ist wunderbar!!:cool::thumbsup:

We are entering a HHOT (Heat Humidity Out The . . .) week here in Northern Virginia, so to brace my flagging efforts outside today I chose to tote this stalwart: a 5" Kutmaster Texas Toothpick.

Stuart, I hope that titanic toothpick tends to turn down the temps!:cool::thumbsup:

That one is a Micarta Churchill. Probably my most used knife. The Ebony is also wonderful.
Thanks for the correction, Dave. :) Probably wishful thinking on my part, seeing what I want to see.

Oops, I cropped your quote.
Zytel, that's it. I knew it didn't feel like G10. I'd be happier with that particular Case if I'd paid $10 or so less for it.
...
I'm leaving the 307 out to remind me to find my Case large stockman, which is pretty much the same size. I may have hidden it somewhere. The 307 is 4.25" closed with a 3.25" main.
That 307 definitely has some size to it!:cool::cool:
I have a couple of Case Caliber knives with the linerless Zytel handles that I bought new from a dealer who had them on sale for under $15 each, which I apparently deemed desirable at the time. YMMV

...
Thank you Gary!!! It's the same green bone with a smoother cut than the Barlow.:D

You're certainly "loaded for bear" with your "quotidian quartet" and your two beauties from across the pond!;):thumbsup:
...
Thanks again Gary!!! Imperial really made some interesting and colorful covers in the pre WWII period, though very few seem to have survived...
...
Thanks for the handle info on the Schrade and Imperials, and for saying nice stuff about my knives, JJ. :)

Today's totes are a tough old US scout and a German made Barlow; a 1946-53 Pal scout and a 1993 Burnt Chimney by Boker.:)
Another "time warp" pair, JJ!:cool::cool: I don't think I've run across Burnt Chimney before; cool tang stamp!:cool: Was that once a Böker "line" or did Böker make them for someone else?

...
Morning folks, hope everyone had a great weekend :) I'm starting my week off with these two, from William Rodgers and Winchester :) Have a good week posters
...
Starting the week with a bang, Jack!:thumbsup::cool: Is that Winchester a moose pattern?

Another stunning photo, Dan, with your dignified ebony and the nuthatch!:thumbsup::cool:

... I’ve got a 4 Line Camillus and a Waynorth Lambsfoot! Both have fairly respectable Jigged Bone! ;)

Boffo pair, Ron! That sunk joint Camillus is a heartbreaker!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

What a notable pair of lambsfoot Barlows, José!:cool::thumbsup:

A Case Dogleg Jack to join my Lambsfoot today...
Classic pattern, John! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Pair of Jacks;)

Does canine Jack appreciate the doggone jack whistle? ;)

Your photos give me a "peaceful, easy feeling", Harvey!:cool::cool:

Ulster BSA scout knife, 1923 - 1926.

Amazing that your knife is approaching its centennial, Dean!:eek::thumbsup:

On the road back from visiting Mom/Grandma with my son, she lives 5 1/2 away and we just don't get to see her enough. My son is the one that brought up the trip to Grandma's, he's done it before, he's a good son:thumbsup:
Overcast day and heading back home while jammin to classic rock from his play list, I raised him right;)
The HJ in my pocket, the covers bring me joy:thumbsup:
...
We ate at a great Dinner where they just served breakfast which equaled AWESOME!!!
This sign was on the counter:thumbsup:
...
Sounds like a fabulous 3-generations trip, Paul!:thumbsup::cool:

Thanks GT! Maturity in my knife buying will be something new, if it holds ;). Great looking barlow

These two for me today.

Handsome SBJr, Tom! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

These two for a rainy Monday

Couple of commendable GECs, Steve!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

This morning, Miss Norma asked me to walk through my mess of strewn knife boxes/boxes of knives that passes as my cutlery conservatory to get her box of baking parchment, She didn't want to "upset your storage scheme". While retrieving her box I found another unopened box left from stepfather's knife collecting legacy. Inside were several assorted pocket knives (which I will tote and post once I catalog them) and this little box.

Three identical little Kutmaster equal end pens (model 27?) clad in Waterfall celluloid and tip bolsters, wrapped in brown tissue paper. Serendipity! I've been totin' one of them all day
- Stuart
"upset your storage scheme" made me laugh out loud at breakfast today! :D:thumbsup::thumbsup:
The rest of the post brought a tear to my eye (shared joy, or envy??); congrats on your triple find!

Nothing fancy, I suppose, but that's one of the most striking photos I've seen here, P&G!!:thumbsup::thumbsup::cool: The patina on both blade and osage orange handle is arresting!

I found my big Case stockman. Shown with the 307.

But I carried this Camillus 23 today. One time Mom and I were at an antique mall. I wanted this knife, but didn't want to pay what it cost, and Mom liked something, but not enough to pay for it, so we got them for each other for Christmas.
IumqNkL.jpg
Big Trio and nice Christmas tale!:cool::thumbsup:

Todays Tuesday totes are both trappers; a GEC made Schrade in the #23 pattern and a Camillus made tribute to the courageous fire fighters.:)
My Goodness, there's "acres" of jaw-dropping jigged bone on that Schrade trapper!:cool::thumbsup:

...
Morning folks, I'm carrying two oldies today, an Alfred Blackwell Lambsfoot, and a 4-line Camillus EO Jack gifted to me by Mr @paulhilborn :)

Much more than serviceable pair, Jack; I'm especially taken with that EO jack!:cool::cool:

Today I carry in my pocket this Case Barlow stag.;)

Breathtaking Barlow, José! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

These two are becoming quite good friends! :) In the pocket today!:)
