What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Today is the maiden voyage of my newly rebuilt Kutmaster electrician's knife. The screwdriver blade was broken, so I tore it down and put it back together as a single blade spear point. I haven't compared them side by side, but I think it's slightly larger than a GEC 15... I'll have to check.

Very nice work.

I've always liked the looks of the Dixie Stockman!:thumbsup::cool: What kept you from liking it immediately? (I don't own any Dire Straits music, but I'll often watch a half-dozen consecutive online versions of "Sultans of Swing" or "Money for Nothing".)

Me too, they are a very nice looking pattern. I’d say it was nothing really having to do with the knife, GT, but more with me. I occasionally think about how much I would have liked to have the Dixie Stockman when I was growing up and working on a farm (had a Buck 110). Then I conclude that I would have lost it and stop thinking about that.

I limited my own opportunities with the knife, first by carrying smaller knives to work five days a week (such as a Cadet, #61, #15). Then the #66 Calf Roper became my preferred GEC Stockman. I just had too many knives I liked and used - so too many others didn’t. Selling/giving away a lot, including the #66, remedied that first world problem - and I forced myself to use the Dixie Stockman (I think I even listed it before and it didn’t sell, I probably priced it so that it likely wouldn’t). I’m happy with the decision.

I enjoy this documentary on Mark Knopfler and his guitars. One of my favorite concert experiences seeing him in Las Vegas a few years ago.

For my Thursday totes I'm pocketing a couple of shadow pens; a Crucible Knife Co sleeveboard and a Canton Cut Co equal ended, both from the 1920s.:)

Crucible made some fine knives in a short history ( c. 1926 - 1929 ) What a fine knife ! I thought I made a thread called the Crucible Boys ? and Kevin
(@veitsi_poika ) found some great stuff on them ? memory loss or a dream...lol

We need a thread " The Crucible Boys " ;):) I could have sworn ...

Now that temps have dropped in the Northeast, and I'm not constantly camping outside, I finally managed to pry the SwissTank out of my pocket. I still haven't kicked the Vic stainless habit though. The OC red Framer gets the nod today, with some nice hunters plaid paracord. After carrying a SwissChamp for 4 or 5 months straight, I'd forgotten how wonderfully robust these 93mm alox models are.

whooooooo

That's a beauty Gev :)

Jack Black Jack Black - Smashing Ebony Lamb. Despite having more than enough Lambs, that one or the Ebony big ún, is the one I ever so patiently wait(hope)to acquire. I love my Ebony @waynorth Lamb, but the Sheffield version is very different and special.

Thanks Harvey, I'll be in touch

Wonderful photo Harvey :)

Thank you, Jack! That's top drawer ebony you are carrying!:thumbsup:

Thanks very much Dean :)

Thank you for the kind words, Gev. Thank you also for the link. From what I read, I couldn’t hold a candle next to Mick. Like Jack Black Jack Black , Mick had an almost encyclopedic knowledge of Sheffield Cutlery and its’ history. Not to mention, again like Jack Black Jack Black , a most enviable collection.

Thank you Harvey, you're very kind :) Mick was the man

Superb JJ, I love Shadow penknives

Capital couple of carries, Jack; the parabolic grain on your Otter is eye-catching!:cool::thumbsup:

Both the HHB and the custom navaja have stag to write home about, Jack!:cool::cool:

What better knife for Halloween than my Douk-Douk?View attachment 1223019

Nice choice Alan :) That's scary! :D

That shot of the lamb reminds me of Mom's favorite small kitchen knife, a Henkels "produce knife" with a straight sheepsfoot blade. Dad insisted on trying to cut with the curved blunt back of it. Mom took it East one year and Aunt Marian did the same thing. "This is your favorite knife?" At least Aunt Marian didn't split her thumb pushing on the edge.

Cool knife Jer

Happy Halloween!
The Canada Geese are winging their way south overhead, and my grandkids have their costumes all ready.
Winter's Coming!;)
With me today, and on Halloween candy duty.

Best of umpteen bazillion. Lousy light this morning.
I have the same thing downstairs with a plastic handle, but I doubt I'll ever replace this one.
This is what I'm actually carrying (old pic). May be a bit much.

That's wonderful that you have your mom's favorite knife! Some folks aren't used to seeing that type of straight edged blades. The only time I was concerned about cutting my thumb like that was when I bought a pair of Mora Carvers. When switching between them, I made sure to pay close attention to which was which!

A very nice Dark Side Duo there Rachel, that Böker's seen some Hallesowen and more:cool::thumbsup:
Thank you. It may have even seen more Halloweens than I!

Thanks, Jack. Tom Krein makes a nice knife. I've got a few of his.
100% chance of rain plus high winds may put a damper on some Halloween fun tonight here.
