What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

It's a very nice knife and I think the pattern fits this purpose very well, especially with stainless blade steel vs the usual carbon steel. Unfortunately this reclaimed chestnut would beautiful as it is turns out to be very soft and sensitive making this more a showcase knife than an EDC. I wish they would have stabilized the wood better, more similar to my Trestle Pine knives. That would have made this an excellent user!
How about putting a clear epoxy finish on it?

How do you like the Shard? I sometimes miss the screwdrivers, etc now that I'm not carrying SAKs and/or Leathermans.
I love the Shard. It fits un-noticed in my watch pocket and I pull it out for many different chores. The flat head works well, the Philips work fantastic, and the pry tool actually works very well for small jobs like paint cans and pulling small nails and staples. Works great for carrying a slim single blade knife and still have a lot of the tools you'd find on a SAK.

Orange sodbuster is tough to beat! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:
The GEC #71 is worth EVERY penny... low price and high quality.

Speaking of interesting old fashioned candy, here's some from our friend in Yorkshire, along with an ebony Lambsfoot for Wooden Wednesday.

:cool: :) :thumbsup:

Thank you, Jack. That Joseph Haywood is rather interesting with its robust tang and substantial kick, quite a nice looking knife and the Lambsfoot, of course, goes without saying :cool:.

A couple dressed all in black for me today.

Thanks Dylan, the Haywood was a very kind gift from @Old & In The Way (hope he comes back one day), and while simple, is a really well-made old knife :) Two ebony beauties there my friend :) :thumbsup:

I was first introduced to them about 20 years ago GT, and bought 1/2 lb, completely forgetting about the fact there'd be caffeine in them until I couldn't get to sleep that night! :eek: :D Terrific trio my friend :) :thumbsup:

@5K Qs ~

"View attachment 1233814 We’ll be having a Thanksgiving potluck dinner at church, so this Case slimline trapper in stainless will be along in *case* anything needs dissecting, bisecting, or disassembly.
How old is your slimline trapper, Jeff? It's real attractive :thumbsup::cool::cool:, but for some reason I thought the pattern was a fairly recent addition to the Case line-up. Looks like I'm wrong (again :rolleyes:)!"

You're not wrong, although your lovely wife may say othrwise...
That Case was virtually brand new looking when I got it from the auction site. If it were old, I think it might have been bone instead of delrin. Since it's stainless, I'm never going to get a patina on it.

I've got the exact knife Paul and it's hands down a favorite. Now, I'm not sure if I see it correctly or not but is your sheepfoot slightly curved? (not straight) because mine is and at first it effected my inner OCD but it wasn't long that eventually it didn't matter and turned to "I kinda like it"o_O:) It came that way from the factory and I immediately thought I'd sharpen it straight but happy now that I just left it as is:thumbsup:

That is a nice group of knives, Gary; especially the Camillus.

Charismatic Case jack, Dean! :cool::thumbsup::cool: (I remember going to the bank early each May back in the '70s to get a fistful of $2 bills to take with me to Louisville where I'd meet friends to attend the Kentucky Derby festivities. Obviously, I visited the $2 windows to place my bets. :rolleyes:)

Thank you, Gary. That is another fine group of knives, especially the Pioneer.

Superior stockman, Dean! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

Thanks, Dean. :) I've actually had it for over 1.5 years; I bought a trio of Cases at the time (Tribal Lock, chestnut jigged bone teardrop, and amber jigged bone canoe). The Tribal Lock surprised me in terms of how much I like the pattern, but I'm not very fond of the bone; it's quite different from the other example of harvest orange bone I have.

Capital couple of carries, Jack! :thumbsup::cool::cool:
The doctor's office called me yesterday after receiving lab results from blood tests and told me I needed to get some follow-up tests done because of "abnormal CBC results". Something to do with possible anemia, I think.

Thank you, Gary. I hope there is a simple solution for your possible anemia. Great canoes, as usual.

Visited Charlie Bell at his shop this morning … what a great day!!! 3 5/8" of wicked sharp 154CM, beautiful bone and wonderful craftsmanship. Note how the bolster smoothly transitions to the tang, makes for a superior feel in hand. Pin is invisible, flush all three positions, perfectly centered, "Made on a good day" :)

I understand OCD, but after a few sharpenings, it'll straighten itself out. Better than a recurve, for sure. ;)
Thank you, Gary. I hope there is a simple solution for your possible anemia. Great canoes, as usual.
I've got a great recipe for chopped chicken liver. Full of iron, but I only make it a few times a year, for cholesterol reasons. If one thing doesn't get you, another thing will. :rolleyes:
