What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Well this (at one time gem) is my carry for the day, although it didn't start out as such:mad: I saw Jeff's post earlier showing his half whitt and thought I'd grab 57 for the remainder of the day. Here's what I found:eek: MAJOR rust on the main and slight remnants on the other blades. Grabbed my Tidioute ebony Whittler from my knife roll and was stunned to find this:mad:no idea how this occurred as all my knife rolls are stored in a very stable environment.

No damage to any other knives and to insure safe conditions I leave a desiccant bag in the knife roll as I have for years. No chance of out gassing from a celluloid knife as there is none in the rollo_O Puzzling and disturbing as this was pristine even a month ago:confused: So, a user now, but still makes me MAD:(

I feel for you, Paul! That is an amazing amount of rust; so sad.

Your Barlow is rated XX, Dean!:cool:;) Do you have any group shots of the Case Barlows you've acquired this year? My impression is that you have quite a variety!:cool::cool:

Miscellaneous Knife this week is a Case mini copperlock (thanks, @Leslie Tomville):

Thank you, Gary! Your stag peanut looks tasty!:thumbsup:

Here is a photo of my new Barlows below that I took just for you. The top three are single blade.

@paulhilborn It's almost incomprehensible what's happened to that 57:eek: Mind you, if you cleaned it carefully with metal polish most future buyers or traders would not object, it will still be very clean and unused, worth a little less due to the etches vanishing. Hey maybe send it in to GEC for a re-etch;):D I just can't see how it could happen and nasty looking red rust not a pepper spot or two. You don't have a mouse problem in the house do you? Mice get everywhere and the House-mouse constantly urinates everywhere it goes, maybe one stopped by the 57?:(

Thanks, Will

Both knives are top of the heap ( as Frank would croon ) :D
Our Frank?? I've never heard knarfeng knarfeng croon. ;)

William Rodgers, Sheffield...
After viewing Harvey's wonderful Rodgers pen I decided to tote a pair; a Crucible sleeveboard pen and a Canton Cut Co pen, both from the 1920s. :)
...
Harvey & JJ, those are some ravishing shadow pens in horn and bone!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

That's a cool knife, GT.
I don't think I've seen that one before, or it slipped past me.
Quite the bevy of beauties Gary; that Kingston Cattle knife is super cool!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
...
Thanks for the Kingston kindness, John & JJ; it's a sneaky one! :)
The tang stamp just says "USA", so I didn't even know what I had for a while. I think @Gevonovich identified it for me, and then I could start researching online and found a Kingston Cutlery catalog that showed it. A fabulous Porch experience!:cool::thumbsup:

Camillus #70 Cattle knife today
...
Captivating, Steve! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Happy My Birthday, everyone! This 57 was a treat to myself, to replace a Grinling I once had and stupidly sold. Pretty nice in the pocket, and it has eclipsed the Churchill as my favorite, being that it is a splitback and all...
Happy belated birthday; superb knife!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

...
Thanks, and I agree, GT. Your two totes below look like they could generate several discussions on their own. Nice selections for any day.

Thanks for the nice comment, Stuart. :)
You posted a terrific trapper twosome, Böker and Black Box!:cool::thumbsup:

I have the 97 and 44 in pocket today, but decided to add the 77 for the pic. These black beauties are waiting in anticipation for the 2019 forum knife to join their ranks.
...
What a trio of Black Beauties, and I like your seasonal avatar!:cool::thumbsup:

Another quality quintet, Gary! :thumbsup::thumbsup:
I carried these two on my hike this morning (Case Barlow and Case stockman with punch). We had the good fortune to see some wild turkeys; they were understandably skittish.
...
Thanks, Dean. :)
I'll bet turkeys are attracted to a couple of fine Case knives like that; I know I am! ;):cool:

These 2 again today . Ramfoot and Lambfoot...
Harry
That pair is not only notable, Harry, they're literally twins (fraternal, not identical)!:cool::cool:

Thanks, Steve. :)

...
5K Qs 5K Qs - Thank you GT. Your cutlery choices are Choice. Wonderful little adornments on each.
...
5K Qs 5K Qs - Love that Okapi, GT.
I tried mightily to resist, but then Black Friday came.

I appreciate your commentary, Harvey. :)
The checkered/nailed covers on your French piece are sensational!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

My two totes for today are a couple of post WWII slicers from Robeson; a Spey Barlow and an English Jack. :)
...
Your red Robesons are always a treat, JJ!:thumbsup::cool:

...
Thanks GT, that's a great line-up
...
Pretty old Pioneer Gary
...
Morning folks, taken me a while to catch up! Hope everyone has had a good week, nice to see Friday come around again ;) Carrying my pocket-hogging Hartshead Barlow again today, and a Vic Electrician. Have a good day everyone

...
I'm grateful to read your remarks, Jack. :) I especially appreciate either interpretation of the comment on the Pioneer, whether you intended that my old Pioneer is pretty, or that my Pioneer is pretty old! :D:thumbsup::cool:
Your stag HHB is anchoring another fine pair for you; I'm a big fan of the Electrician!:thumbsup::cool:

Great choice, Gary.;)
Today with GEC #15.;)
...
Thanks, José. :)
Your spear/pen #15 with endcap is lovely!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

6th December is Independence Day here and thus a National Holiday:) The Republic was established 102 years ago today, but of course the country is far older;) During Tsarist rule 1809-1917 the country was more or less autonomous anyway. own currency the Markka and Bank of Finland since 1863 (that's all gone now with the €uro ) education system, taxation, Parliament, pensions and votes for women all before 1917, nor did Finns have to serve in the Imperial Tsarist army either unlike other nations.
...
Belated Finnish Independence Day greetings, Will!:cool::thumbsup:

Along with all the knives I've carried in my life you can usually find a small gents knife on me. I particularly like these figural knives. This one coming from Hoffritz which was like a giant candy store of knives. Other than blunted tips it is an excellent little knife. One question I've never seen answered is why do the great majority of these knives have the same scene on both sides?View attachment 1244483
Are the covers identical on each side, Alan, or is one a mirror image of the other? If the former, I suppose there are savings in manufacturing costs, but that wouldn't be true of mirror image scenes, I'd guess.

Your Case Carhartt wharncliffe mini trapper is a fine knife, Vince!:cool::thumbsup:

Sorry, I’ve been failing to keep up. Pages and pages of knives, plain and fancy, cheap and expensive, I am hopelessly behind. I had some surgery the other day because the surgeon, the anesthesiologist, 42 nurses, the mri specialists, the hospital and several departments thereof, and numerous and sundry support staff and their requisite supplies, and last but not least, the billing department, were all in need of some holiday cash.
So, as I wait to return to “normal”, I’ve just been messing around with my guitars and gear as well as working on the music of the season for church. Just uncharacteristically left this same pair of knives in my pocket.

Did you have to keep your knee elevated for a while, Jeff? Are you getting around OK now? Any special rehab regimen they recommended?

Something old something new ;)

Camillus four line #12 medium Jack and a Northfield #86

Remarkably similar in color considering they are at least 80 years apart.

Remarkable indeed! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

Carrying a simple Case XX Sod Buster today. I like the thin profile of the jigged bone versions.

Very nice!:thumbsup::cool: I carry one just like that every day! ;)

These two today, Happy Friday everyone.
...
That ebony BSK with its fob is awesome, Tom, and the yellow-handled fixed blade coordinates with it perfectly!:thumbsup::cool:

For Old Friend's Friday.

Old and New, a Simmons KEEN KUTTER Barlow with outstanding fit and finish. Solid and centered blades with terrific snap and warm pocket worn saw cut bone covers paired with a 2019 Natural Micarta Oil Field Single blade Jack:cool::thumbsup:

Those ironwood lambfoots are really something. May tote mine some this week. I thought my favourite knife handle materials were stag and bone, but wood may take top place for me. I have wonderful examples in desert ironwood, rosewood, ebony, olive wood, beech wood, cocobolo, and (soon!) African blackwood. All very special.

Good question, now I have to pull them out to double check.
