Well this (at one time gem) is my carry for the day, although it didn't start out as suchI saw Jeff's post earlier showing his half whitt and thought I'd grab 57 for the remainder of the day. Here's what I found
MAJOR rust on the main and slight remnants on the other blades. Grabbed my Tidioute ebony Whittler from my knife roll and was stunned to find this
no idea how this occurred as all my knife rolls are stored in a very stable environment.
No damage to any other knives and to insure safe conditions I leave a desiccant bag in the knife roll as I have for years. No chance of out gassing from a celluloid knife as there is none in the rollPuzzling and disturbing as this was pristine even a month ago
So, a user now, but still makes me MAD

William Rodgers, Sheffield...
Harvey & JJ, those are some ravishing shadow pens in horn and bone!!After viewing Harvey's wonderful Rodgers pen I decided to tote a pair; a Crucible sleeveboard pen and a Canton Cut Co pen, both from the 1920s.
...
That's a cool knife, GT.
I don't think I've seen that one before, or it slipped past me.
Thanks for the Kingston kindness, John & JJ; it's a sneaky one!Quite the bevy of beauties Gary; that Kingston Cattle knife is super cool!

Captivating, Steve!Camillus #70 Cattle knife today

Happy belated birthday; superb knife!Happy My Birthday, everyone! This 57 was a treat to myself, to replace a Grinling I once had and stupidly sold. Pretty nice in the pocket, and it has eclipsed the Churchill as my favorite, being that it is a splitback and all...
Thanks for the nice comment, Stuart....
Thanks, and I agree, GT. Your two totes below look like they could generate several discussions on their own. Nice selections for any day.

What a trio of Black Beauties, and I like your seasonal avatar!I have the 97 and 44 in pocket today, but decided to add the 77 for the pic. These black beauties are waiting in anticipation for the 2019 forum knife to join their ranks.

Another quality quintet, Gary!![]()
Thanks, Dean.I carried these two on my hike this morning (Case Barlow and Case stockman with punch). We had the good fortune to see some wild turkeys; they were understandably skittish.
...
That pair is not only notable, Harry, they're literally twins (fraternal, not identical)! These 2 again today . Ramfoot and Lambfoot...

Belated Finnish Independence Day greetings, Will!6th December is Independence Day here and thus a National HolidayThe Republic was established 102 years ago today, but of course the country is far older
During Tsarist rule 1809-1917 the country was more or less autonomous anyway. own currency the Markka and Bank of Finland since 1863 (that's all gone now with the €uro
) education system, taxation, Parliament, pensions and votes for women all before 1917, nor did Finns have to serve in the Imperial Tsarist army either unlike other nations.

Are the covers identical on each side, Alan, or is one a mirror image of the other? If the former, I suppose there are savings in manufacturing costs, but that wouldn't be true of mirror image scenes, I'd guess.Along with all the knives I've carried in my life you can usually find a small gents knife on me. I particularly like these figural knives. This one coming from Hoffritz which was like a giant candy store of knives. Other than blunted tips it is an excellent little knife. One question I've never seen answered is why do the great majority of these knives have the same scene on both sides?View attachment 1244483
Your Case Carhartt wharncliffe mini trapper is a fine knife, Vince!
Did you have to keep your knee elevated for a while, Jeff? Are you getting around OK now? Any special rehab regimen they recommended?Sorry, I’ve been failing to keep up. Pages and pages of knives, plain and fancy, cheap and expensive, I am hopelessly behind. I had some surgery the other day because the surgeon, the anesthesiologist, 42 nurses, the mri specialists, the hospital and several departments thereof, and numerous and sundry support staff and their requisite supplies, and last but not least, the billing department, were all in need of some holiday cash.
So, as I wait to return to “normal”, I’ve just been messing around with my guitars and gear as well as working on the music of the season for church. Just uncharacteristically left this same pair of knives in my pocket.

Remarkable indeed!Something old something new
Camillus four line #12 medium Jack and a Northfield #86
Remarkably similar in color considering they are at least 80 years apart.

Very nice!Carrying a simple Case XX Sod Buster today. I like the thin profile of the jigged bone versions.

Thanks, Gary. It was a gift from a friend on the Porch. Great knife.Your Case Carhartt wharncliffe mini trapper is a fine knife, Vince!![]()
Those ironwood lambfoots are really something. May tote mine some this week. I thought my favourite knife handle materials were stag and bone, but wood may take top place for me. I have wonderful examples in desert ironwood, rosewood, ebony, olive wood, beech wood, cocobolo, and (soon!) African blackwood. All very special. My Lambsfoot of the Week is Valley Jack, my 2019 Guardians desert ironwood lambsfoot, a Jack Black SFO:

Good question, now I have to pull them out to double check. Are the covers identical on each side, Alan, or is one a mirror image of the other? If the former, I suppose there are savings in manufacturing costs, but that wouldn't be true of mirror image scenes, I'd guess
