What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I've got a Christmas party to go to tonight, so I'm pulling out the Party Knife.
ozog7zX.jpg
That just hits all the notes perfectly. I love it!

I am so woefully behind on this thread and hope to catch up soon, but I'm Miss Norma's Delivery Elf today and she's glaring at me now as I type this post. I received the BF 2019 knife last week, but just decided to tote it today in the holiday spirit. I introduced my new friend to some old friends, the three Miller Bros. brothers.

Unfortunately, the combined table lamp and daylight cast a slightly yellow glare on the group, but no time for a re-do (according to She Who Must Be Obeyed). @Jack Black Jack, notice what I picked up at my local British goodies store while grabbing some holiday cigars. Similar to your wonderful pomfrets, but sticky toffee that will pull the fillings/crowns from your teeth. Very mild liquorice taste.

I hope to introduce the new knife to a close Clauss cousin, but he was taking a walkabout when I went to grab him. If you see him, let me know.

And Merry Christmas to you! We may be old, but not worn out yet as long as we remember to oil the joints. ;)

That sure looks good. It's both a blessing and a curse to have Whataburger close at hand. ;)
Have a wonderful time.

It was good! Enjoy your party! :)

Love that acrylic, wish I had snagged one on release. Wish I would have snagged a lot of them on release now days lol. Merry Christmas :)

Today I got a little stag with me

Thanks for the compliment on the acrylic! :) Nice stag!

331 miles south or 332 miles west for me.

Package opener for today's family Christmas:

Merry Christmas! :)

Awesome, Ron! I love Jekyll Island--spent a few days there with my family one summer. And Whataburger is my favorite burger too (of the "fast food" chains, anyway). I was born about a mile or so from the first Whataburger, and have eaten at Whataburgers frequently all of my life. It's been almost a week since I was there.
Anyway, wishing you and everyone a merry Christmas!
h9F1haI.jpg
Thanks Vince! I think they make the best Fast Food burgers on the market! Merry Christmas! :)

Whataburger is great! Sometimes I go three times a week, or more.
 :D

Half/Stop Half/Stop

Dang, closest WhataBurger is a mere 5 hours or so from me.
:( That’s too far!

Beautiful dark wood Stuart! I hope y’all have a wonderful time! :)

This one will be with me tonight and tomorrow all day. It is my reminder of the real reason for Christmas. Even the best of Christians find it hard to stay focused during the more commercialized times.

But, Christmas is supposed to be fun also! So this dude will make its yearly appearance to help open kiddos toys. Since we all know they haven’t the patience to wait long!

But after that’s done, my grandfathers uncle Henry will accompany me, shown here with the hand painted/built nativity that my grandmother left behind. They embodied Christmas and it was their favorite time of year also (I do inherit that honestly).

I certainly have "nicer" knives in my drawer to choose from but I just love my 66 for its simplicity and practicality. Probably my favorite slippie in my small collection if I'm being completely honest with myself. Merry Christmas to the Porch. Enjoy your Holidays!

Well, bought a house and moved in, ...
Congrats on the house purchase!:cool::thumbsup:

View attachment 1253179 I’m totin’ whatever’s in easy reach, for awhile. Today it’s a Schrade USA stainless stockman. A total prosthetic hip replacement, on Wednesday, took a little bounce out of my step!
Wow, Lance, that's quite a Christmas gift!! I thought new wheels for my car were a cool gift, but a new hip!!:thumbsup::thumbsup: FWIW, I played basketball last week with a guy who used to always play with us, but he stopped about 8 years ago. He had both hips replace since he stopped playing, but he was moving pretty well for a 75-year-old! I hope your rehab is smooth and fast!:thumbsup::)

Thanks Gary! :) Pam says I’m full of surprises! ;)
As my daughter would say, "TMI!";)

Opinel with stainless steel in walnut
...
That walnut Opinel is really classy!:cool::cool:

...
Quite the attractive pair; your "Cracker Jack" is certainly striking a cool pose!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
...
Thank you kindly Vince!!! When I have a lucky find, I give the knife Break Free CLP bath, followed by an alcohol rinse with a final Frog Lube coat; so far it seems to work, so far.:thumbsup::thumbsup:
...
Thanks, JJ; my knives and I always feel cool and confident when were vacationing by Lake Huron. ;)
I enjoy reading what various people use for knife care/maintenace/storage.:thumbsup::cool:

Starting out the week with a bit of scouting; a 30s Remington BSA scout and a much needed waterproof match safe. :)
...
You're definitely prepared, like a good Scout, JJ!:thumbsup::cool:

Two Great Straights;) But I'm opting for the CASE today.
...
Will, your Case Swayback and Waynorth Cutlery lambsfoot are an impressive pair!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

...
Hope everyone's week is off to a good start, and that you're all in a holiday mood :) Thought I'd carry these two again today :)
...
Your Primble and your KOTY are a fine duo, Jack!:cool::thumbsup:

It's a wonderful chilly and foggy morning, I've got some cozy new wool socks and still toting this superb knife. Hope you all have a good 'un today.

View attachment 1253327 View attachment 1253328
Definitely superb!!:cool::thumbsup: Do you have any sort of consecutive days/weeks/months carry streak going?

...
The main one today. Been anticipating this one most of the year. Not disappointed. Exceeds expectations. Quite extraordinary, actually.
Congrats, Vince, and thanks for the review! ;):cool:

...
Rough rider moose knife. Merry Christmas. :)
Splendid seasonal pic! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

...
this ole butter & molasses.
...
That looks really good even now; it must have been incredibly striking in its heyday!:thumbsup::cool:

Another intriguing cast metal knife, Alan!:thumbsup::cool: IIRC, that wood background has been featured in several recent pictures. Is that part of the Christmas tree you cut?

LOL Gary, seriously I laughed out loud:p I had shoulder surgery 2 weeks ago and this attractive young nurse asked "would you like the flu shot while your here" I haven't had a flu shot in 25yrs because the last time I got one I came down with the worst flu I've ever had. But I fell under her spell when she asked and said "Sure" and now I'm at home fightin the flu:eek::eek::eek:

You makin me laugh broke some of the misery I'm dealin with:p

Have a Merry Christmas Gary:thumbsup:
Same to you and yours, Paul! :) Fantastic that I could bring some fun to your feverish flu-fighting! Last year was the first year I got a flu shot (except for swine flu vaccine in 1977), and I'll probably keep it up.

Very nice!
The Red Alox Cadet is on my short list and on my Amazon Wish list.
I suffer from Alox Pox, so I'm biased in encouraging to get a nice Cadet, John!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

These two for me today, plus an Opinel #8 my brother gave me for my birthday yesterday. He wants to try an Opinel challenge in the new year, where that is the only knife we carry for a week initially, with it then expanding to see who can get by with “only” that the longest. I am looking forward to it .:).
...
Happy belated birthday, Tom!:thumbsup::thumbsup: You posted a dynamic duo, as usual, but I'm looking forward to your sibling Opinel rivalry! ;)

Lol. It's 50°F here, too. Like I said, it's cold! :p
I'm hoping for a real hard freeze this year. Not because I like the cold, but I hate bugs. Springtime after a mild winter can be very buggy.
I suppose with temperature, it's all relative (or as I sometimes tell my wife, "It's all your relatives."). After seeing some of your bat cave pictures, it's hard to believe Austin could have a bug problem.

I waited awhile to finally acquire a Moki and managed to get a very gently used one for a great price. Having had one in hand though, I believe they are worth the full price tag in quality. They are extremely light as well. I can hardly notice carry it.
Thanks for the testimonial, Joshua! :)

...
Thanks pal, I'm thinking of inviting Shawn @Wuurwulf over to show me where I live when I'm coming back from the pub! :D ;)
...
Thanks again GT :) I always enjoy seeing your red Cadet, and it's nice to see your birthday ring-opener :)
Shawn would probably be glad to be of service! :D
Thanks for the kind words, Jack. :)

HHB & Apprentice for today :)
...
The Barlow is great, Mike, but the Pioneer Apprentice really grabbed me!!:cool::thumbsup:

You're a total team player with that pair of Forum knives, Taylor!:cool::thumbsup:

...
5K Qs 5K Qs - Thank you GT. Your SA Alox is a beaut.
...
I'm grateful for your constant positivity, Harvey. :)

...
Thank you, Gary. I'm loving the Christmassy themed knives!
Today's carry is my red Sway back gent. Also in the photo is a shepherd ornament I made about sixty years ago.

View attachment 1253606
I know what you mean, Dean, and that includes the "props" to make a photo "seasonal", like your very cool shepherd!:cool::cool: (I have a Santa "ornament" I made in Kindergarten; even at 5-6 years old, it was obvious I had few artistic or mechanical skills. :()

I woke up with a light heart today, as I had very little to do having completed all of my holiday shopping and chores (tree, firewood, cocktail fixin's, cleared upper and lower back decks in case we lit the fire pits. I figured this little Battle Axe could handle totin' duties easily.
...
Then, over coffee, Miss Norma informed me of the chores of which I was previously unaware, but had to be done today - mostly driving and shopping for last minute items that "we" forgot, and getting rid of the resulting boxes. I decided that this one was more appropriate, in more ways than one.
...
Now, settled in with an elixir and my dog by the fire.

Great story, Stuart, and I think both knives are full of character! ;):cool:

...
Great foursome of Swiss and Sheffield knives; very cool, the last knife adds two more "S's!":thumbsup::thumbsup:
...
My two Tuesday totes a large trapper and a Barlow; a GEC made Schrade and an Imperial/Schrade made Schrade. :)
...
Thanks, JJ. :)
Superlative Schrades for you! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

...
Happy Christmas Eve folks, wishing each and every one of you a joyous and peaceful Christmas. I'll be taking it easy, for the most part today, hoping to enjoy some good food and a few libations this evening ;) Treating myself to a Double Lambsfoot Day  :)
...
What a potent pair of lambs foots they are, Jack!:thumbsup::cool:

No 'merry water' for me this Christmas. My second child is 6 days overdue, so I have to be in shape to drive my wife anytime soon.

I have chosen these fine gentlemen to accompany me to 'the theater'.
...
Can't imagine a more exciting Christmas gift; congrats on the impending birth!! :):thumbsup:

Sowbelly this week is a Rough Rider in amber jigged bone, the first sowbelly I ever had; I was totally surprised how much I liked the pattern:

Regular stockman this week is an Imperial Ireland linerless model (thanks, Dave):

Econo-canoe this week is actually priceless after Rachel "artted it up" for me earlier this year:

Premium canoe this week is a 1975 Case:

Busy day. My son has a 20lb ham he’ll be cooking, and they all voted that I have to bake a pie. View attachment 1253776

It looks like today will be the most hectic/festive/exhausting. Big Christmas meal, watching the kids open presents, and evening services at church.
Tomorrow, I’ll be taking a borrowed guitar over to the hospital where my daughter in law works to sing carols for her physical therapy patients. Should be fun~ they can’t run away!
You're a good man, Jeff! :thumbsup::):):cool:

My family is spending Christmas on Jekyll Island this year. Yesterday I got an early Christmas present. My favorite hamburger, with the exception of the ones I make myself, is a “Whataburger”. I know some of my friends here @Prester John and @r8shell have them close to their homes. The closest Whataburger location to our home is over 180 miles away. That’s not really practical to drive that far for a Burger even a good one. When we come to visit Jekyll Island there is a location at Yulee FL. It is a short drive down I95. So I was able to get an early present which consisted of a Whataburger Double with cheese, fries and a large Coke! Here’s a photo! My vacation knife content consists of a Tidioute #53 TK Cuban with Christmas Lights acrylic handles and a Wright’s large Lambsfoot with Pere David Stag handles. :)

Glad you were able to get that traditional Christmas meal to go with your traditional knives, Ron!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Or she'll find out which ones are faking.

The photo will probably give me nightmares about knife-wielding snowfolk!:(

I cannot think of better knives to tote on Christmas than Case Redbone. Have a Merry and Blessed Christmas everyone!

BTW, what a meal Ron! Half/Stop Half/Stop I am off to get one!
Gorgeous bone, LT, and I hope you and yours have a Happy Holiday Season as well!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Merry Christmas.

We have a nice 7' tree and the piece we sliced off ours is a fraction that that background is. That must of come from a very large tree.

Wow, Lance, that's quite a Christmas gift!!
