What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

I noticed you had acquired a 61OT now, I’ve had a very similar KaBar 1108 I’ve used as an occasional EDC for some years. I understand that Camillus made the KaBar - was the Schrade 61OT also made by Camillus or is it a Swinden Key knife? I have one of those Schrade as well and think them to be essentially the same knife. Thanks, OH

I believe the 61OT was Schrade all the way, but I haven’t been wrong yet today so there’s still hope:eek: The 61OT is an even 4 inches long.
I’m thinking TheChunk91 TheChunk91 could probably answer that question, if not perhaps a couple other forum members that spend time over at the Schrade Collectors sub-forum, @koldgold or @Codger_64 might be able to answer too.

Camillus did actually make old timer 61ot's for schrade. They are easily distinguished by the sheepsfoot having a nick on the front side instead of the back. Both are pin through. I don't think schrade ever went to swinden for that pattern. As to which came first I don't know; camillus probably made that frame a long time but I know for sure the pattern for schrade goes back to cut co days, the 8613 being the original variant.

See...Just like I said, there was hope for me to be wrong today. Now that that’s over, I don’t have to worry anymore today...just waiting to be wrong tomorrowo_Oo_Oo_O

Well, it's back to the deer woods for one last weekend. I've kept this gear packed and ready for a month, taken it afield twice and have yet to fire either shotgun or use either fixed blade (except to help a fellow hunter field dress a deer). The Case Texas jack has nipped several cigars, though. Fresh air, here I come.

- enjoy, I am most envious  Hunting here in UK is for the very few.

Seems you're a slowly dwindling breed..........have read that the number of hunters in USA is dropping, that fewer and fewer Americans are taking up hunting every year, prompting some advocates to express concern for the future of the pastime, as well as the wildlife and nature conservation that hunters' fees support.

It's a shame that so many folk don't realise that if it wasn't for hunters and fishermen, vast tracts of countryside/parks/rivers and open land would not be so well preserved and maintained as it is/they are today.

Wishing you great luck and joyful use of your knives.

Home finally, after eight days in Colorado spending Christmas with our son and family. It was so much fun watching the 3&1/2 yr grandson and all his excitement. The 4 mo old grand daughter is a bit young to grasp it all, but she melts this guy’s heart.

So. After enduring a week of looking at all of the new 2019 Blade Forum GEC knives, I am hoping that our mailman has mine in the big stack of held mail.
Today’s my birthday, so I like how that works out!
In the meantime, my Bull Buster will do.View attachment 1255015
Happy Birthday, Jeff! We’ll all be looking forward to seeing some pics of that new knife!

@3 and 3/8ths its really sweet. Perfect snap no wobble. I have just bonded with this knife. 2564K....Thank you as always, Sir !!!!!:)

Carrying it today again :thumbsup::thumbsup:

You are welcome Gev. I have the same knife, with pre-peachseed bone and a clip main. Well used and worn down but tight and snappy. A testament to quality.

Yessir- that’s a great looking knife. The more I use my Camillus 72s, the more I appreciate the coping blade.

Thanks, guys, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Jeff. Paul, there has been a slight decline in some hunting sectors, but numbers of young hunters and women hunters are on the rise. We still have plenty of public land and good amount of private land available for hunting, but making time and taking the effort seem to be flagging a little. Yes, hunters and fishers plow hundreds of millions of dollars into wildlife resources each year, just on sales taxes alone.

Well, the trucks packed and running. Gotta go . . . .
