Thank you, GT. Your wishes and effort are much appreciated. Luckily my german is not that rusty to get your message. The bible is not german though. It was printed in 1860 in Christiania (what Oslo/Norway was called until 1877) when Danes were still ruling Norway, so I recon it is old Danish and at the same time old Norwegian, since they became very interconnected at that time.

I am still enjoying my Case Sway Back Gent, but seeing so much love for the stockman pattern makes me feel wierd for never owning one. Which knife should I get for my first (and potentialy last) stockman? I prefer knives about 3.5 - 3.75 inch closed.
Thanks for the correction on the Bible. I studied German 50 years ago, and could read it reasonably well, but your info explains why (besides being out of practice) I was struggling mightily to read the Bible in your photo! :D
Your Churchill is a champion!:thumbsup::cool:
FWIW, I like the Case 6318 (3 5/8") and Case 6347 (3 7/8") stockman models. (The "6" in the model number indicates bone covers, but I think they're also available with other handle materials.)

Carrying my Grandad’s Case that my Dad gave me last year on a visit back to Wisconsin...

A prestigious pair for you today!:thumbsup::cool: But what is the illustration behind the stag HHB??

Left front pocket, back is handkerchief only.

Thanks buddy :) You know, the number of dental crowns I've broken over the years, I'm surprised nobody else has referenced the nursery rhyme, though it's usually been eating toffee, liquorice, bread, which have been the cause of my dental misfortune, rather than falling down :)

Thanks again Gary, In answer to your question, I've tried hard to find a non-commercial link to post, without success, but if you search on, 'Fantastic costumes of trades and professions', you should get more information and examples :)
