I know what you mean John! :D It's actually a 17th century engraving  Here's another from the same series :)

Hope it brings you good luck John :)

Thanks buddy :) You know, the number of dental crowns I've broken over the years, I'm surprised nobody else has referenced the nursery rhyme, though it's usually been eating toffee, liquorice, bread, which have been the cause of my dental misfortune, rather than falling down :)

Thanks again Gary, In answer to your question, I've tried hard to find a non-commercial link to post, without success, but if you search on, 'Fantastic costumes of trades and professions', you should get more information and examples :)
I'll be at the dentist tomorrow, Jack. Thankfully it's just a cleaning and a checkup. I hope! Sorry to hear about your crown. Sounds like it should be under warranty though...

That picture makes me feel better about carrying 2 or 3 knives! Talk about a knife nut!

For Sunday :)

Your knives are both great, and the Black Jack is superb - seems to be the knife for you. :)

Rousing start to 2020, Dean!:cool::thumbsup:

Great to see your scratted bone Ancient in your new year hiking duo!:thumbsup::cool:

Stag/Horn Knife of the Week for me has been this Joker horn lockback:

Thank you for your encouraging comments on my knives, Gary. I like the look of your Joker lockback, and the Hartshead Barlow is a classy carry.:thumbsup:

Desirable and dignified dark duo, Dean!!:cool::thumbsup:

Elegant elk, Dean! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

Blushing, thank you, Gary! :)

FWIW, I like the Case 6318 (3 5/8") and Case 6347 (3 7/8") stockman models. (The "6" in the model number indicates bone covers, but I think they're also available with other handle materials.)

I can speak several languages, but I have been unable to master german in all those years of studying. Life is just too short for me to learn german I guess.

Thank you for your advice, GT!
I have been looking into Case 63032 CV (I find pen blade to be more useful for me than spey) and GEC #66 calf roper if I can get one. Given my location, it is easiest and cheapest for me to buy Queen Dan Burke stockman, but I cannot seem to be able to get over stainless steel blade on a traditional folder.

Sorry to interrupt, but by coincidence I just purchased the 63032 CV and find it to be an excellent example. I do favor the spey over the pen blade for reasons of family history, but I love this knife. It’s a beauty!

This Buck Custom Shop 501 with S30V blade steel and Cherry covers has been on my belt this weekend. I've had the knife for several years, but have not carried it as often as I might have. I find it a bit large to carry in my front pocket. I recently purchased a black leather belt sheath for it from Buck; and it works really well for me.
If you've never tried Buck's Edge 2000 blade profile in an S30V blade, you should. It's a treat.
