What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Dylan, it's a Bark River Rogue. Available in an assortment of handle materials, my knife has black canvas micarta. My only micarta handled knife. I grabbed it because it seemed like the best one to use. My kitchen knives are all either too fine edged and delicate to deal with breaking down a pineapple, or not sharp enough. This Rogue has good geometry for the task at hand. It's as sharp as anything I have, but it's built more robustly than a chef's knife. The only issue is the handle. It can get slippery when wet, and the handle contours and lack of a guard demand that I exercise the utmost care during use.

Thank you! I wondered if it was a Bark River. I like the looks of it with its coffin handle. It resembles a lot of the classic guardless "vest" bowies from the late 19th century.

Carried the Victorinox Farmer today. I used it to cut a walking stick to help keep my balance in a glacial fed river I was wading in.

Many thanks JJ, those two pair together very handsomely :)
Thank you Jack!!!
Apologies for my late posting, and minimal presence today, hurt my back this morning o_O Before that, all was going well, and I had just sorted out my carry for the day. Hope everyone is keeping well, and having a reasonable day

Another extraordinarily picturesque pair for you today; each one looks like an art piece (the grey scaling of the blacks in your Robeson image is exquisite!):thumbsup::thumbsup:

Restrictions in this country aren't too oppressive, we have a very small population so social distancing is a way of life, people seldom share lifts/elevators in blocks in normal times :D Helsinki and its surrounding state have now been opened again to commuters, not that I go there much anyway;) I got a haircut yesterday from my hairdresser, the salon has its chairs much further apart and you have to wash hands immediately on entry& sanitise when paying, otherwise normal. No masks much in evidence, but I saw some woman driving a car with one on alone, what's she got in the car, toxic waste?? I hope masks are not going to become the norm as I think they offer more contamination , badly fitting or people drooling in them then chucking them away:eek: I've noticed that the masked like to talk endlessly to each other as well......

So the restrictions aren't too bad but I think the MENTAL effect on people is showing and it's oppressive particularly after out endless winter, the economic effects are there too, for a long while. So, it's more than ever a tonic to carry a decent knife-and fortunately, we all have varying notions of a 'decent' knife apart from 'indecent' knives from outside the Traditional definition :D Farmer's Jack from Northfield GEC, ever renewed homage to @wlfryjr for getting this one out, hope you are in good shape Lyle, your SFOs are :D

Amazed by that Solingen Stag Pen:thumbsup::thumbsup: It's the grail territory :D

Is it sunk-joint?

Thanks, Will. The joints are a bit proud of the bolsters but close to being sunken.
BTW I love that farmers jack of yours. Everything about it, bone color & jigging, the shield & bolsters, the pattern....all outstanding!

... Those are Grape Testers. :p:D

I think I'll throw the Soddie Jr in with my Lambsfoot today...

What a sensational stag I-XL lambsfoot, Harvey!!:cool::thumbsup::cool: What's the background in that photo?

Going with a couple wood clad lock backs; one from the South of France and the other from the South of California. :)
...
Tremendous timber twosome, JJ!:thumbsup::cool: I'm so glad your French lockback introduced me to that Camargue Cross and its Faith/Hope/Charity connotation. I have a Rough Rider scrimshaw kit, and I'm thinking maybe that cross should be my first project.

What a beautiful pair of iconic stockman knives, Paul!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

On a sad note, we heard the news this morning that a local facility (6miles from our house) is the Virus hotspot in our area. It’s a housing facility for disabled and handicapped adults, and they have lost four or five of the older residents, with other residents and staff infected.

My daughter participates with many of them through the Special Recreation Association, and we have many friends and acquaintances with family members there, so my heart breaks at this news.:(
Good wood choices, Jeff; I enjoyed the stories behind them!:cool::thumbsup:
Sorry to hear about the Covid-19 outbreak at the facility for disabled adults.:(

Still making an excellent selection of knives, Gary.;):thumbsup:
I'm grateful for your supportive comment, José. :)

That makes it special. :cool::thumbsup:
That one is special all on it's own... a beauty.:thumbsup:
Thanks for the good words, John. :)

Captivating photo of your outstanding Catt Barlow with the small script on the bolster, Gev!:cool::cool:

Ebony #74 and an Imperial Cattle knife today.

Superb new/old pair, Steve; the "fingerprint patina" on the Imperial's main blade is cool!:thumbsup::cool:

As a purple footed kid, I'd just climb up and eat them off the tree. Nowadays I carry them home and wash them first. ;) I'm in favor of any tree that makes edible fruit, even if they're messy. That's part of my retirement plan: live off pecans and figs and mulberries.
I never tried eating mulberries after seeing how they "went through" the neighborhood birds that ate them.:rolleyes: Recent events make me wish I had followed your lead regarding retirement planning.

Awesome Barlow. :thumbsup::thumbsup:
Thanks, Vince. :)

...
Thank you, Gary! Great looking Canoes this week!

Gary, your RR canittler looks like butterscotch and is a special pattern.

Thanks for the encouragement, Dean. :)

Thank you, Ron! You are carrying a fine duo today, that Queen English Jack is most excellent!

These are among the few I've kept close by today.

Thanks for the kind words on my Queen Dylan! :) The gentleman "Stuart" that gifted it to me is a most excellent gentleman too!!! :D Good to see the pile side of your AC. It matches very closely the pile side of my AC. The Redmeadow knives are beautifully made. All in all another dynamic duo you've posted my friend! :)

Congrats on the thoughtful and timely gifts, Harry!:thumbsup::thumbsup: That Ron is a generous guy (and fond of sneaky shenanigans ;))!
Shenanigans!!! What are you talking about Gary? I did learn early on from one of the best! Bob, aka "BigBiscuit" was a master at the art of surprise! :D

Good Friday morning! My trio is from the Dark Side today and is a mixed bag. ;) I've paired two of these before so forgive the recycled photo. First up is a Tidioute #79 Workhorse Whittler in Ebony. It's teaming up with my 2018 Ebony Guardians Lambsfoot, an SFO from @Jack Black. I've also got my Vic Black Alox Pioneer close by. You can't never tell when my screws might get loose! Y'all stay safe and well out there! :D

Thanks Gary. That one in particular I find to be just the right size. However it’s such a rare bird that I only carry it where I know there is no chance of misplacing it.
