G'day folks :) I'm way behind, but I'm afraid I'm going to have to catch up later. Wishing everyone a safe and happy weekend

Captivating trio, Jack!:thumbsup::cool: I don't remember seeing that fixed blade before.

Very nice Gary, I hadn't realised RR's small Cotton Sampler was Peanut-sized
Thanks, Jack. :) The cotton sampler is 3", so technically it's bigger than a Peanut, but what's 1/8" among friends??

Happy Saturday everyone.
Sweet stag duo, Les! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Today's my birthday - I like carrying this Pioneer from my birth year on my big day :)
Very belated birthday greetings; I hope it was an enjoyable day and at least as nice as that stand-out red Alox!:cool::thumbsup:

Case Swayback and Wenger Standard Issue.

Star Spangled teardrop and Berry Red Pioneer.

Dazzling duos, as usual, Dean!:cool::thumbsup: I'm really enjoying the string of days that feature and Alox SAK as one of the knives in your pair.

There's a lot going on with that stockman, GT. Intriguing.

Thanks for the congrats and the condolences, GT. Yes, John Prine had a great way with words. From that song, something we can heed today:
"For pity's a crime
And it ain't worth a dime
To someone who's really in need
Just treat 'em the same
As you would your own name
Next time that your heart starts to bleed."
...
Thanks, again, GT and there is nothing "miscellaneous" about that Barlow. It is singular!

The lovely cotton sampler is intriguing and it looks useful, GT.

Thanks for the positive reactions to my knives, Stuart. :)
The Marbles stockman has stag bone covers that I like, and it's structurally very close to a 897UH (which is what I think the Platonic ideal stockman), but the "damascus etch" outdoor scenes on the blades are a bit "ritzy" for me. The Case Barlow is "miscellaneous" only in the sense that I don't have a barlow category in my schedule of weekly carries, so barlows (and other patterns with no category of their own) were relegated to that subset of my knives for scheduling purposes. The cotton sampler is very nice (my favorite stag bone handle among my knives), but I haven't carried it enough to comment on its usefulness.
That verse you singled out was the one that hit me on my first listen to the song.

I've been totin' these two today: a Case 99 1/2 swell end jack (1974) and a Case 85 physician's knife (1974).

Couple of commendable Cases, with superb stag on the 2-blade jack, Stuart!:cool::cool:
I remember the '70s, vaguely. :)

Super-scratted handle, Dwight!! ;):cool::cool:
"Ain't it funny how an old broken bottle looks just like a diamond ring?"

Today another Barlow and Scout pairing; a Case and an Imperial from just after WWII. :)
What a pair of beauties, JJ!:thumbsup::cool: I'm from just after WWII, but I don't look nearly as good as those good ole boys!:rolleyes:

There is a challenge going round on the net to make a featherstick out of matchstick, a feathermatchstick I suppose.

Out of the three knives I tryied to carve it, Spyderco Chaparral did the worst job, Higonokami was OK, but penblade on that TC just nailed it. Traditionals rock!

Very impressive!! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

So many nice Barlows shown lately, I’m going to join the Barlow Bunch today and carry my Ulster. OH
Ulster-Knife-USA-11-G-Barlow.jpg
That Ulster is the ultimate Barlow, Bruce!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Versatile pair of classics, Jeff!:cool::thumbsup:

Happy Sunday Everybody
Precious pair of lambs, John!:cool::thumbsup:

My Pioneer X is IMHO just about the most useful knife. Certainly no Gentleman Jack but somewhat elegant none-the-less.:D

Gotta get me a Pioneer with scissors; yours is aces, Bill!:cool::cool:

These two today

Your black/red combo are champs, Steve!:thumbsup::cool:

Large Copperlock and a Pioneer. In my opinion, Case can do a blue jigged bone as good as anyone.
View attachment 1324960
Agree!:thumbsup::cool: The navy blue bone with red shield is an outstanding "look"; I didn't realize they did a Copperlock like that! (I already have a Canoe and a Tribal Lock with those covers on my list.)

Another productive day of turning large pieces of leather into smaller pieces of leather ;) and this camp knife sent in by @Ed T cleaned up pretty nice, edge is thin to win, I hammered out a makeshift bail from 10ga copper wire and braided some elkskin for a fob. Thanks again Ed.

Cool couple, Stuart, including Mako the Knife!:cool::cool:

Samuel Smith Organic Chocolate Stout. I’m not much of a drinker, but I must confess that I’ve become quite fond of this one, Vince. Great Sunday go to church image.

5K Qs 5K Qs - Much appreciation for your kind remarks, GT. I don’t care what you say. Your Senator is easily the equal of mine. Cheers!
Thanks for the props to my stag senator, Harvey. :)
If you're not gonna drink much, you should choose something good; I think you chose wisely! ;):thumbsup:

Starting the week with a couple of pre WWII handy jacks. :)
Yet another notable pair, JJ!:thumbsup::cool: Do both knives have an EO notch?

...
LOL! :D It's a small island I live on GT, everyone knows someone who knows someone ;) I hope not my friend, though I do own fixed-blades that might throw my back out! The picnic knife is really useful :)
...
Morning folks, apologies for missing a day yesterday, struggling to sit at my desk due to back pain at the moment o_O I hope everyone had a decent weekend, and that everyone has a safe and happy week. Finding it hard to remember what day it is here
...
Thanks for the comments, Jack. :):thumbsup:
Nice trio you've selected; the acrylic on the GEC #85 is special!:thumbsup::cool:
I hope the back responds soon to whatever treatments you're trying!

Thank you very much Gary, for me it's the second, the first is this in horn.:):thumbsup:

That's certainly a beauty, José!:thumbsup::thumbsup: I think I prefer the stag handle and the little man with the cane on the blade of the other knife. (I also very much like that whale-shaped knife you have, but I don't remember if it's Portuguese. ;):cool:)

Strange times call for strange knives.

I had forgotten about that strange possession of yours!:cool::cool:

Ooh! I know!
Even a blind pig makes good bacon.:D
Not what I'd have guessed, but I LIKE it! :p:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks a lot Gary, I think I've only posted a pic of the Condor Otzi once or twice before :) Thanks for the info on the Cotton Sampler, very interesting

Thank you again my friend, that's very kind :) The #85 was a generous gift from @btb01 when we met up in Sheffield the Christmas before last :)

Looks delicious, Alain!
Today is my daughter-in-law's birthday. My wife is making (per request) a Greek dish: pastitsio (not sure if I spelled that right); my daughter is baking a carrot coffee cake, and I am making a Greek salad. We will have Retsina wine, of course.
But we need to try more French dishes. We enjoyed watching the 1999 series of Jacques Pépin and Julia Child cooking.

And it was fine! :)

That's also the way we write pastitsio :)

I guess we eat it also the same way : with mucho pleasure! ;)

During this shelter-in-place I have knives close at hand no matter where I'm at. But I'm used to carrying a knife, so I have one in my pocket even as I type this. No accompanying keys, phone, or wallet leave me feeling unbalanced though, so I make sure to carry a second knife to even things out. Today it's this pair that I normally consider too large to carry comfortably.

Strange that I carry more steel now even though I am literally surrounded by sharp tools.https://www.flickr.com/photos/49226302@N00/49806499451/in/dateposted-public/#
