What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Carrying my Case CV Sowbelly to Wound Care with me today.

In Alturas? Several years back I had to take a crew member of mine to a clinic in Alturas, they got their feet tangled up and tripped...lacerated their hand pretty badly on some volcanic rock...wasn't pretty. Love the Modoc Country nonetheless!

Yeah, it's a pretty nice place to live. Our place is out in the boonies a bit but close enough to town to be convenient. I'm heading to the Modoc Medical Center today for Wound Care for my leg where they took out the Fibula to replace my jaw bone. Oh, happy days.:)

That lava rock can be real dangerous as your crew member found out. It'll slice a tire quicker than you can blink. Many a person has had to walk out of the Devil's Garden because they not only sliced a tire on the lava rock but sliced their spare too.

Were you running a fire crew?

Thanks Jack, much appreciated! That is a beautiful sheath for your Companion

Thanks a lot Tom :)

Morning all. Missed this thread yesterday and had a "few" pages to catch up on! Busy day posting for you guys, but some great shots! Lambsfoot "Senator" and Arkansas Traveller today :)

Re-potting tomatoes all day yesterday and today, and not sure I’ll finish today.
Toms are unique in that they will grow roots out of the stem, so I prune the cotyleden and sometimes the first true leaves and bury the stem all the way up to the next leaves. Do this a time or two, and you’ll have monster tomato plants.

Sliced plenty of tires out there...sidewalls included....been out in Devil's Garden a bunch...even got chased by a wild horse or two out there, ornery beasts! No I am an archaeologist (though when I worked for both USFS and NPS I had a red card and worked fires) and I have done a number of projects up in the northeastern corner of the state including for gas pipelines, electric transmission lines, USFS work, etc. Used to love to go eat Basque food in Alturas. My dad was from up in Red Bluff area and as a kid we would go camp, hunt, and fish in the Modoc, Lassen, Shasta, Pit River areas....in part named my oldest daughter after the Madeline Plains.

Thanks for the approval, Dean. :)
Your Vic Electrician and rosewood slimline trapper are an attractive pair!:cool::thumbsup: I should find a nice example of jigged wood to include among my knives.

I appreciate your taking the time to comment on my Mohawk, Dean & Jeff & JJ. :)
Thanks for the EO info, JJ.

I'm grateful for your triple quotes, John & Dean & Jack. :)
Your ebony gunstock is dapper and dignified, John!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Dean, your pair is superb!:cool::thumbsup: I'm not a huge Barlow fan, but those Bökers with the tree on the bolster appeal to me; is yours jigged bone?

Thank you for your kind comments on my knives, Gary. :) To answer your question regarding my Boker Barlow, it is indeed bone. I really like the bolster with the tree on it, too. :D

I think I'll Tote my "Rhode Island" Jack today. ;)

So that is what those are called! :D Big name for a little jack, just like Rhode Island.

Alox Knife of the Week is a Vic Farmer (thanks, Tom):

That's a nice Farmer you got as a gift, Gary - just like mine. :D

A little 303 got the call today. View attachment 1330488

The Buck 303 Cadet is a classic and a convenient size to carry everyday.:thumbsup:

So I rocked my standby of more then 40 years ( not the same exact knife but same model) today and it once again handled everything I could expect from a pocket knife. I sit here now at my old work bench wondering why every few years I go on a search for a better everyday knife for me. All I ever end up doing is buy then selling and losing money on another knife that just doesn’t do anything more for me then the proven winner in my pocket.
At this point I just don’t see wasting 6-8 weeks to get a new $394 knife back from the manufacture just so I can sell it off so back goes my new Case Bose cattle knife to the dealer and in my pocket the 303 will stay. View attachment 1330577
