What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

These two together again...

Today I'm back to the "Maroon Marauder". One thing you can happily say about synthetic covered 'shadows' and knives of 'integral' construction...they don't shy away from being carried and used, whether slipjoints or lockbacks. The fact that the cover material is so durable (and often quite attractive in its own right) makes it easier to press these knives into service.

I love my stag, bone, ivory and ebony knives but shadows and integrals with modern synthetics have definitely won a place in my heart.

Today the delivery motorbike of my company failed, so I had to get up at 5am, after delivery I have a free afternoon and since we're in the new home, we are getting comfortable

I always suspected that Woody Allen was a closet knife collector...

Since I carry a fixed blade knife most of the time (along with a pocket knife), I figured I'd post one up here now and then.

This one was made by Mace Vitale. Specs are; Forged 1084, copper liners, Sambar stag, and NS pins. OAL is 7" and the steel is 1/4" at its thickest. There's not much this little knife won't do.

Nice knife Gary, Mace builds a great knife, I also carry a fixed 95% of the time, along with my folder(s)

Thanks Kris. Funny thing is Central NY is a pretty knife friendly place. I don't feel uncomfortable in the least with a small sheath knife on my belt. I don't wear one to the opera though. :DI like that little damascus Sparrow you've been carrying.

Thanks Gary, I like the sparrow so much I have two, both stainless damascus, one is a nicer carry though. I feel naked without my fixed blade on me. Glad to hear you can carry a small fixed in NY state, I have a concealed weapons permit here, so there is little I can't carry. Best,

Kris

That's a beautiful fixed-blade Gary.

I've had a busy few days, but got round to sharpening my Abram Brooksbank folder this morning, so that's been my pocket carry today. Probably tomorrow too :)

Great looking knife, Jack!

Gary, your post with that sweet little straight knife reminded me that Jerry's SLR (Straight Little Rounder) hasn't been getting any love lately...I guess I'm gonna have to put on a belt today so I can wear it in Paul Long's sheath. (Jerry sent me a kydex neck sheath for it as well.) I don't think anyone at the vet's office will blink an eye.

Thanks Elliott, apart from sharpening it and oiling the joints, I haven't done a thing with it. If there's time after my Otley trip tomorrow, I might make a pocket sheath, but for now it fits in my watch pocket fine as is.

That SLR is just lovely. I do like a small fixed blade. They're kind of frowned on in the cities here though unfortunately, to say the least. OK out in the woods though :)

Not a custom like Gary or Elliott's little fixed blades, but this nice little 6-3/4" Moore Maker is in use at home today.

Jerry's straight knives are in every way as nice as his folders. I really like that one, Elliott. His modified Wharncliffe blade is possibly my favorite blade shape.

Here's one (Jerry's Jack Russell model) I'll clip in my pocket for the rest of the day. Just because I can!:)

Thanks Jack! I like that Brooksbank, you're carrying today.

Jeff, That little Moore Maker looks like a great companion!
