I’m glad you got one! Those scales are likely the same as yours ~ they are smooth. They called it Ivoroid, or French Ivory. I don’t think the material is celluloid, snd I’m relatively certain it’s not delrin, either. Is yours an advertising knife? A LOT of them out there were made for felt and paper mills.
Beautiful pairing Dylan!![]()

Thank you very much Dylan . That is one of the better 97s that I have seen my friend .Thank you, Ron! That pair of yours is rather striking today - nice to see that #26.
Wonderful duo, Harry! Some of the finest Stag-n-Sawcut out there!
Continuing with just the 97 today.

Can't remember if I've commented on these or not, but that's a beautiful set IMHO.
Great description Jack, thanks a lot!!!
Visually stunning pair of stag beauties Jack, something very cool about that great old stag on your "random" slicer!![]()

That looks quite good, my friend!
Nice staggy pair, and hydrangea!
You got a nice one for sureI finally was able to recently score what I’d been looking for for awhile, one that was “new/old stock” that was in good shape, and I had been looking for one that wasn’t one of the many advertising examples (as you mention) that you tend to see on the secondary market. Here she is!

Thanks for that, Jack! There’s a strong resemblance in that unicorn ivory!Or Ivorine or XyloniteI think it was ORIGINALLY celluloid. There's a dedicated French Ivory thread somewhere I seem to recall. I had a link to a site with a very thorough history of early plastics, but it's no longer online unfortunately. I dare say some Google-fu would turn it up
Talking of faux ivory, I'm carrying my Unicorn Ivory #25 today (thanks @btb01 ), along with my Hartshead BarlowHave a good day everyone

Old Cocobolo for the wooden Wednesday suggested attire.
Two old 4-line Camillus, the EO jack is the exact model my Grandpa carried as his “good” knife. He also had a cheap Imperial barlow, and a Hammer Brand pen with a broken blade. I don’t like to carry his old Camillus, so I looked for a long time to find this stand-in.
Have a day. Best if it’s a good one
