Thanks very much Barrett . Will either one of these fill the bill ??

Harry

Perfect! :D

That's a great pic Barrett  The tang does sit high doesn't it, I think I do what Vince Prester John Prester John does, and carry it in a slip? :) I've had some GEC pocket killers too! :D

Thanks, Jack. I never really use a pocket slip (I mostly dislike that it adds too many steps to taking my knife out of my pocket to cut something) but I do have a few, so I might try it out.

Hope y’all have a good Tuesday! Be safe out there! :)

Nice pair, Ron! That #43 is a good looking knife. I’ve never really gone for GEC’s “natural” bone options (is that one called Frontier bone?), but I feel like I should reconsider that in the future. :D

29 again today. Mentioned I wanted to stick with it for a bit, but how long should that bit be? Decided to take some inspiration from @r8shell and her adventure with the 29 last year, and have weather set the limit.

Going to stick with this one until at least the first snow this year (which here, could be anywhere from tomorrow until September or October).

Got to admit it is starting to grow on me... :)

Might not be too long before the first snow up your way, eh? :D

I don’t think I’d seen that Maple Leaf Series #29 before you started sharing yours, but it sure is a handsome knife.

Thanks Barrett, the Yankee Jack sat for sometime as it seemed to nice to carry, and that usually doesn't apply to me. I think all knives need to be carried so out it came awhile ago and I'm glad it see's pocket time vs a knife roll. I brought it out as apples are getting ready to pluck from my dads apple tree. I don't eat to many store bought because they just don't compare to whatever kind my dads apples are. The Yankee Jack has a great apple slice main as the apples on dads tree are good sized:)

Your right about Bob liking the Yankee Jack:thumbsup: IF the NFL does play this year then it won't be long and Bob's daughter Lan and I will be texting on Sunday's;)

I’ll admit, I don’t carry mine all that often, and haven’t used it too hard. I have a Tidioute from that same run, in a kind of ugly green jigged bone, that I’ve beat up on a little more.

That’s great that you and Lan keep in touch. I hope she and Bo are doing well!

You always seem to have interesting patinas, Taylor! :D

Nice photo!

Marbles D2 Sowbelly stockman
Buck 110 (Ebony covers & S30V blade)
Bundeswehr M1212 faux Cold War Era West German Bundeswehr GAK, still in possession of it's (exceptionally) easily lost/misplaced saw cover. :D
The only difference between a "real" one (which could have been made by Bundeswehr, among others, according to the research I did last year) by the way) is this faux version is 111mm closed, whereas the "real" one is only 108mm closed.
Shown with my current favorite (presently empty :( ) coffee cups.
The nukeable ceramic cup (on the left) is only 18 or 20 ounce. The not nukeable (ok, it can be nuked without frying the nuke oven. However, the staffettes are under the facility's orders not to nuke it, "because it's metal".) (Porcelain on steel, actually) cup is just 24 ounces.
(I miss my six 0.5 gallon "trucker's" coffee cups ... that was almost enough for a full 10 hour driving shift.) (I like ambient temperature and iced coffee.)
Sadly, us residents ain't allowed to operate anything in the kitchen. (Honestly, for three of the residents whom for medical reasons are incredibly really stupid now, that is unquestionably a "wise"" decision ... one or two have difficulty operating a fork or spoon.)

Interesting, but are you SURE it's a faux knife? It's highly unlikely that the Bundeswehr 'made' these knives, they would've been on contract over the years and specs would vary from time to time so a 3 mm difference is nothing. I doubt if people would go to the bother of making fake examples as this was I think, a knife made available for conscripts-either to buy or to return after their period of national service.

Too bad Andi from Bayern is no longer active here, he did military service in the Bundeswehr so I'd imagine he'd know.

Another favourite from Queen Cutlery: Teardrop liner-lock in WCSB and D2 blade, an item I was very lucky to be able to buy from @black mamba some years back, always appreciated Jeff:cool: Towards the end of its time, Queen put out some frankly awful knives at times: mismatched steels, parts knives, poor quality etc But this is certainly NOT one of that type. The Carved Stagbone series either White or Amber from late 90s to early 00s are first rate knives, a match for GEC now. All that changed later on...

Indeed, they were all contract knives, made by a number of different companies, both inside and outside Germany. Until a few years ago, the European market was awash with them, and they could be bought very inexpensively.

Thanks Barrett! I got this #43 in a “group” on the exchange. It is Frontier Bone and I like it quite a lot! I think you’d probably like it too! :)
