Camillus Whittler and a Jack

Looks like a challenging project; good luck! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:
The shield on one side is a fish, but what's the shield shown in the last photo??

Thanks, Tom. :)
Your blue Farmer and AG Russell lockback make an admirable pair! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

W:eek:W! What a wondrous wood whittler for Wooden Whittlin' Wednesday! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

I can't remember ever having a rust problem on carbon steel blades once I get a patina on them, no matter how good (uniform gray is my favorite) or bad (speckled and rainbow-colored isn't really what I try for, but it often shows up along the way) the patina looks to me.

That looks like a special Opinel to me, Dean! :cool::cool::thumbsup: Both blade and handle are shaped differently than the "stock" Opinels I've had, and the wood (what species is it?) looks nicer than the standard beechwood.

That's a champion pair of pocket knives, Jon! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

Breathtaking stag 73, Duane! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

Appealing ligneous pair, JJ! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Holy Cow!! :eek::thumbsup::thumbsup: I'm a fan of Rough Ryders and try to keep up with what they're up to, but I wasn't even aware that RR was making knives like this, including a canoe! Unfortunately, it looks like I may have missed them.

Thanks, John, I agree that it's a handsome knife! :)

TRex-Caliber!! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:;)

Thanks, Jack. :)
I can imagine the blood, sweat, and tears you shed in trying to impose your will on that stag HHB! :p:thumbsup: It pairs well with that big Black Jack! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Attractive pair, Ron! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Artisanal pair, Rachel! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

Lot of auspicious Case knives to choose from, ED! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

Thanks for the kind knife comments, and for the botanical info, Dean. :)
Striking photo of your Farmer Jack and Robeson; that Pocket-Eze is arresting! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

"Caveman version" :D Maybe I should have sandwiches like that more often, since I have kind of a Neanderthal head! :rolleyes:
As usual, I enjoy your fixed/folder pair; what is that wooden folder with the bail?? :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks, JJ; the Buck stag canoe is one of my luckiest finds, I think. :)

Another beguiling pair of bone folders, Steve! Joy-inducing jigging on each! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

French aristocracy, Vince! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Always satisfying to see that TEW lambs foot, Harry! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

Y:eek:WZA, that's an outstanding vintage jack, Paul!! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

Fine Friday pairing, Jack! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool: That striped penknife is distinguished!

Tremendous trio, Jeff! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:
What do they say? "You are what you carry." Way to go, Old Timer! :D

Amen, Brother! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Those chestnut jigged bone CV Case SBJrs are such fine examples of the marriage of form and function!! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

I don’t know what that is, just looked at it again and I’ll have to get back to you. Thought it may be a snail but I don’t think soimage.jpg

It's been getting down in the 30s at night here and when I got out of bed this morning it was colder than heck in the house - "Fire up the heaters time" so, all I need is a screwdriver and a knife blade so why not just use my old Navy issue TL 29 I said to myself. All I need to do is back off a couple of screw-loaded fasteners to get to the furnace filter and a sharp blade to trim the filter and then a standard screwdriver blade to adjust the dampener handle on the Wood Stove and the same standard screwdriver blade to remove the screws on the Monitor fuel oil heater cover to set the temperature sensor. Because I like simple when possible - why not the TL 29?

Fine pair, buddy!

And this is why I love those TL-29s. Besides how sturdy, and handsome they are...
Studies show that 87% of the old pocket knives with broken blades on E**y could have been prevented with a TL-29;)

Day 43... Still no snow, but Fall is definitely in the air. Brewing a little warmth and comfort ;)

Not going to lie, part of me is now looking forward to a bit of snow. This is still a great knife and I'm enjoying it, but I'm starting to miss the variety :D
I think this applies to the pending white stuff as well as to the futility of sticking with one knife indefinitely...

It's still shorts weather in So Cal. The Victorinox florist's knife is useful and doesn't weigh much.

Frank, I haven't worn shorts since the end of August (hasn't yet made it up to 50˚F here today), but I certainly agree with your choices regarding knives. One of the few knives I've purchased in this crazy year is a Vic Florist, and it's a joy to use for food prep (cut up grapes and bananas for my oatmeal this morning). I'm also a big fan of the Pocket Pal (I think I currently have 3 of them), and I'm not sure why, other than they're just simply designed pen knives that work.
