GEC #79 Workhorse Whittler w/ebony covers. Have a few chores to do around the place today and this knife will be perfect for them.

Ken Erickson: 3.75" Cattle Knife (CPM-154). I don't ordinarily display this many images of it but every now and again I think it needs to be seen more fully...especially for new folks who haven't had a chance to appreciate Ken's great work.

I don't know, Elliot. I was going to comment that this may be my very favorite of all your collection. Then again, that is saying a whole lot and would be very difficult to decide. With that said, it has something very special about it. I love the equal end pattern and that one is just flawless in design. When you can stare at a knife and find no hints of disproportions and etc that says a lot. Its always caught my eye.

I can't say I'm surprised, Kevin...and you probably won't be surprised by this...

...thank you for your kind words.

there are so many fantastic photos in this thread, I cant begin to requote them all. But today I saw a photo that has a unique composition I have never seen before. The knife is awesome too:

thanks for sharing gentlemen, and Happy HolyDaze

Well, maybe a little surprised to hear you allude to a favorite :D

Not surprised that this would possibly be your pick. :)

I weasel-worded it enough to give me some wiggle room...(I learned that from many years experience testifying inside courtrooms.) ;)

Elliott, I love how that sheepsfoot can be so low in combination with the clip blade. (Is that the standard cattle knife configuration?)

I'm carrying these two. The pictures aren't new, but it's a needed reminder of what sunshine would look like :D

HAHA :D

I would have the same trouble with a collection like yours. That particular knife just screams MAN to me though. Some scream elegance, or sleek etc...this one is MAN :)

Ken is somewhat obsessive (okay, maybe just determined) when it comes to sheepfoot blades that stick way up high...and rightfully so in most instances since it can alter the feel and grip on the knife when working with one of the two other blades...so he takes pains to try to align the blades so that the run-up and height of the blades when closed match as much as possible.

The selection of blades deviates somewhat from the more traditional spear, sheepfoot and spay (or punch). I asked Ken to substitute a clip blade in its stead and have done the same with cattle knives built for me by both Richard Rogers and Ryuichi Kawamura. It's all a matter of personal preference and if you have a maker willing to accommodate, why not?

Really glad you like it.

I'm like the proverbial dog with two tails!

Charlie sold me a Forum 08 knife to replace the one lost in a kitchen flood last May. It arrived today and went straight into my pocket.

Many thanks Mr C.

Regards, W

sitflyer -thanks for the ID. I'm a fan of good quality stainless blades so i might need to look for one. Any idea whether GEC has plans to do another run of those in the Great Eastern brand?
