Love how the black alox ages over the years. I have a black pioneer x I carry pretty regularly, hopefully one day it will looks as good as yours.

Thanks, it doesn’t take long if you carry it with keys. Mine looked like this after less than a year of daily carry, hasn’t changed much after that. Colored Alox is good for showing wear and use, maybe not as pleasing as bone but beautiful in its own way.

Note to self, add more stuff to pocket :D. I agree it is beautiful in its own way.

Very nice 1981 h48b there.
I have a 1985 628 and really love it, looks identical from a distance but there was a minor size difference in these two models at the time.
What's the overall length on your h48b ?
Thanks, it's a great knife. 7 1/4" overall. That's Schrade sheath. Fits nicely.

My 628 is 6-1/2 and my F48a is 8", so I guess the the 48b of this era would fall right in between.
I probably need to think about getting an F48a and f48b to match my 628.

That sheath does look like a good fit, looks like it originally had a 144uh in it ?
I'm a lefty so I had to make one.
