Good to see you too.Good to see you John, hope all is well
Thanks a lot Jeff!!! I'm sure they were purchased for Scouts that left after a week or two; the several I had at that age were lost or wrecked! In remarkably good condition! Obviously never toted (and abused) by any of the Scouts I’ve known.
When you need to use one of the blades, how do you decide which one? Whatever comes out in your hand?
Attractive pair of knives!
That's a good-looking and functional orange/yellow pair, Jeff!Hit the low 50s (farenheit) yesterday, and it’s supposed to be even warmer today.
And my romaine, spinach, and cilantro is happy and actually growing again. I thought it was done for a couple of weeks ago.
Have a good day!View attachment 1470964View attachment 1470965
This thread sometimes turns into "word association" for me. I jumped from your aged and acclaimed Howard and James knives...
A couple of obscure oldies today. Howard Bros. and Jones & Son:

That's a pro-quality blade mod!Decided I don't need a large piece of "sharp steel" in my pocket anymore. So I'm carrying this nice, little #15 Boy's Knife in ebony. I modified the spearpoint main blade to a clip not long after receiving it (no clip points available at that time). It's the size that you don't even notice in your pocket...until you need it! (With apologies to Carl/jackknife!)

Thanks for the bone name correction, Greg; I've been looking at canoes like that since you posted yours (or your son-in-law's).Thanks my friend. Those knives were gifted to 2 of my son in laws last Christmas.
To correct myself Case actually calls this bone 'burnt amber jigged bone'.
Today I'm packing two whittler patterns, 4" Klaas in stag and a 3-3/8" Ulster swell center in bone. Someone prior to my getting it a few years ago must have carried and used this Ulster for years, the jigging is mostly worn off. Still snappy though and full of character.

Lol... I laughed so hard...
...
Second one I've seen in as many weeks... I need one, it has the perfect combination of blades.
Glad my new-found incompetence in the classroom brings somebody some happiness!i’ll echo what John said, Gary.
That 93 is special! ...
Yeah, it's an inspirational saying, but it confuses me in real life because various parts of me feel very different ages (some decades apart)!...
And thank you for your kind comments, my friend.
What’s this about your olden years? You’re only as golden as you feel! Or something like that. Eh? What was I talking about?
Thanks, JJ.Thanks a lot, Gary!!!
Great triple group of jack totes for you today; extremely cool blade variety and combinations, too!![]()
Thanks for the encouraging words, Jack....
A most enjoyable post GTThank you my friend, I sure hope so
Three good 'uns there Gary, I always enjoy seeing that Colonial![]()

Thank you, José.This is a very special knife, Gary.![]()
I'm quite sure those Nitro snappers were part of the "dowry" my wife brought to our marriage 35 years ago!...
Nice knives and that box of Nitro snappers brings back some memories of my youth![]()
Thanks, BruceGary, how you manage to keep up with so many posts in this thread is amazing (especially given how fast it moves). Thanks for your kind remarks. OH
Did you get that Clauss from Santa, Les?
What model is this immaculate Alox SAK, José?!?
I love it GT! I can’t wait till more colors are available in the USA. You can’t got wrong with either one. I carry my pioneer x more because a saw is not often needed.Attractive pair of knives!
I don't do a very good job of keeping up with the most recent GEC releases. Are these a new model?
That's a good-looking and functional orange/yellow pair, Jeff!
This thread sometimes turns into "word association" for me. I jumped from your aged and acclaimed Howard and James knivesto googling Howard Johnson restaurants.
(My wife's first job was at the "soda fountain" at a HoJo's, although I can't ever remember dining at that chain anytime, anywhere. I have been to Ground Round, though.)
That's a pro-quality blade mod!(I'm a spearpoint fan myself, but I admire the craftsmanship of your clip!)
How do you like it, Jon? Looks fantastic!
I'm trying to decide if I'd rather have a Pioneer X or a Farmer X (or just keep getting by with my Minichamp when I need scissors).
I'll vote for the very old scout, Tom, since I'm someone very old (at least old enough to know better
).
Phenomenal pairs, Paul and JJ and Dean!!You're welcome, Dean; do you wish you had scissors on that Farmer??
Not only do you post enviable bone almost every day, Steve, many days you post pairs that are notably matched!!![]()
Thanks for the bone name correction, Greg; I've been looking at canoes like that since you posted yours (or your son-in-law's).
Notable pair of whittlers!I need to give a nice whittler a serious tryout to see how it compares to a stockman in my knife life.
Glad my new-found incompetence in the classroom brings somebody some happiness!
Thanks for the good word about the clip/sheep Old Timer jack, John and Jeff.Definitely a desirable blade combo, although I'd probably prefer it in a "double end" set-up like the GEC Churchill.
Yeah, it's an inspirational saying, but it confuses me in real life because various parts of me feel very different ages (some decades apart)!
Thanks, JJ.
Thanks for the encouraging words, Jack.
Quite a classy pair you've pocketed!
Thank you, José.
I'm quite sure those Nitro snappers were part of the "dowry" my wife brought to our marriage 35 years ago!
Thanks, Bruce, but I really don't keep up. I just develop coping strategies (like quoting only one post per page when I'm way behind) to pretend that I'm not being superficial.
Did you get that Clauss from Santa, Les?
It's a beauty, but does it have 2 blades, or 3 blades??
What model is this immaculate Alox SAK, José?!?
This is a knife I forgot to post last week, a Rough Rider baby copperhead serving as my peanut-like knife for last week:

Beautiful Wenger! Very nice shield. I like the exposed rivets.
