Have a great afternoon everyone!

Right back at you JOELSM JOELSM ! Great knife isn’t it?! Sawcut Osage, who would have thought?!

Charlie @waynorth , thank you so much for the kind comment yesterday. It means so much more coming from you, our fearless leader and chief guru! I’ll stay around for every bit as long as I can!

Small minor(?) major(?) change:
Carried over from last week's carry:
Rough Ryder "Classic Carbon" RR 1740 Large Stockman and 2040 Barlow. (T10 carbon steel blades)

Alteration:
Circa 1978-1984 Old Timer 7OT with a 1095 carbon steel blade is reliving last week's Smoke Jumper.

(also retained from last week's carry is the plain black Buck ("Buck" and Anvil blacked out) nylon sheath, carried horizontally on new black military style web belt with (still shiny :( ) brass buckle.)

In my current rotation schedule, I left a "space" in most categories into which I could schedule a new knife I might get in a given category, rather than waiting until I'd gone through the entire 60-week (or however long it is) rotation and only scheduling new knives in the next new rotation. This week happened to be a week in which there was a "hole" in the Peanut-ish category (although I am carrying the Case peanut above as a representative of stag knives). I haven't acquired a new peanut-like knife in the 13 weeks since my current schedule began, so I decided to fill the slot this week with an AG Russell 1-arm knife, a recent gift (along with the pictured pocket slip) from @JohnDF, even though the knife has few characteristics in common with a Peanut.

Gary, your AG russel 1-arm knife and slip are gorgeous! @JohnDF is not only generous but he also has great taste.:thumbsup:

Got home about noon (mst) and found fedex actually delivers on Sunday!! 885UH Senior Stockman along with Case 2021 Vault Release Copperhead in Sawcut Caribbean Blue.. Very smooth open and close, sharp. First Case I've bought in years. Well worth it.View attachment 1501331View attachment 1501332

Your Copperhead looks great in that Caribbean Blue bone and Wharncliffe blade. Thanks for sharing.:thumbsup:

After 8 inches of Snow last night , the Snow Repositioning service finally arrived and did their job .

And I have had these 2 in my pockets all day . The Case was a gift from a Grand Daughter . And I carried the Ulster from 1961 until 2001

Splendid pair, Paul; cool bolster "refinements" on the Texas Jack!

A wonderfully eclectic quartet Gary
Thanks, Jack.

Today this GEC # 83, in stag, walks in my pocket-;)
...
Beautiful stag lockback, José!

There's just something about well worn red Alox...:thumbsup:

Should that read "PRY-ER" owner? :D

Punny Guy. :D:thumbsup:

Thank you, GT. :)
I agree about the Alox; look for it again in the not-so-distant future in a Best Looking Five thread near you.
You're pretty punny yourself, sir, with that prior/pry-er remark. :p

Going with these two today.

Fantastic German duo! What sort of wood does the Ankermesser have?

Case 2019 Vault Barlow. Paired with my dad's 51 Barlow with full underline of "Camillus". He used it until he died in 1956. I need to pick up one just like it to carry.
Your dad's barlow is a magnificent keepsake!

Thank you Gary, you are always a pleasant poster!

With our Sears store closed down for good, all that's left are the products they sold - seems our Kenmore appliances and my Craftsman tools & knives have outlasted their purveyor. OH

Thanks for the kind words, Bruce.
We're still using a Kenmore clothes dryer that my wife had when we got married over 35 years ago!

Good one Gary, thank you very much!!!:D I really liked the look of your bone covered "Be Prepared Electrician," yesterday; a very classy and unique mix!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Thanks, JJ; that RR electrician is built like a tank!

Toting these two thrifty fellows from the thirties today. :)
Those Hammer Brands are cool as cracked ice!

These two barlows again.

Bang-up Barlow pair!

You know it's a great knife when it looks better the more you carry and use it.:thumbsup:
...
Thanks, Dean; it's sure a favorite of mine.

I'm carrying this Kabar Barlow today.

Gold standard pair, Steve!

That's a prize copperhead, Joe!

I am not particularly enthusiastic about Chinese made knives, but I saw an HCOA splitback whittler on Ebay yesterday and it was extremely done.
They nailed the split backspring and it looked to have excellent F&F.
Sounds good! I ordered the canoe simply because I was curious what it would be like for $4 (may have jumped up to $6 by the time I decided to order one). But it's rock-solid and more than satisfactory.

lol GT , too funny :D, I had to google it believe it or not. I had heard the term but never got around to find its meaning (so many phrases and words I have still yet to learn in English ... but the awful thing is that I am forgetting my Spanish )
We speak Spanglish at home :cool:
...
Glad I could help you learn a new term, Dan. ;)
The SBJr is looking fine!

really late or awful early but, it's today ;)

Very handsome half whittler, Gary!

I thought that was a Congress at first! :D Need new specs! ;)

Two very different Barlows today, my regular Hartshead, and a beautiful WLST kindly gifted to me by @btb01 :)

My sowbelly pic in direct sunlight with inky black shadows of the blades on a wall right behind the knife could easily make it look like a 6-blade congress!
Nice brace of Barlows, Jack!
I'm intrigued by that Barlow definition specifying a single blade.

Been off of the forum for three weeks. Fun to roll through knife pics again and see all the eye candy. Y’all have a great Friday!

Welcome back!

For Black Friday... Couldn't come soon enough.
Versatile Black Friday combo, John. The long, smooth bolster on the Böker Barlow is a fetching feature!

...
I am never bored. But in an effort to not be boring to others, I’m including a shot of the Wenger and Camillus pen that I have in my lft and that wee little pocket that is too small for much of anything else. Otherwise, is the same old users in my rfp.
Enjoy the day!View attachment 1499781View attachment 1499782
Sweet Camillus pen knife, Jeff!
Are you enjoying sticking with that other pair all week?

I
This may not be the place where this should be posted , but since it is one of the Highest Viewed threads there is , this is where I am going to post it and this will be tough for me to do .
Today I lost a very good friend to me and a good friend to many of you . His wife has asked to let you all know that @Half/Stop Ron passed away . He had open heart surgery for a Torn Aorta about 3 weeks ago and was back at home for about 2 weeks . He collapsed this afternoon and was rushed to the hospital but was not strong enough to survive . I know some of you asked about him , but he did not want it to be known as to why he wasn't on the Forums . At one point , it appeared that he was Okay a couple of weeks ago , but that eventually changed . I know for a fact that I will miss him and his phone calls .
When Ron was young and running a Paper Route he would go down to the local hardware store and buy a knife on lay-away . So you know he had been collecting for a few years . He was 66 years old . In the Louis Lamour books about the Sacketts , they talked about " A Guy Good Enough To Ride The River With " . I would have " rode the river " with Ron .

Harry
I am so sorry to read and hear about this Harry and anyone else that knew Ron. I will miss his posts and seeing him at Rendezvous. RIP Ron.
