What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Fabulous weather forecast here for tomorrow, and with the lockdown restrictions here eased just the slightest smidgen yesterday, I am planning to head out for a birthday hike tomorrow :) Taking these two with me, my Ironwood and Damascus Lambsfoot SFO, and my Nicholas Nichols Pocket-Cleaver (thanks @Reaper AL ) :) Have a good day everyone

Happy birthday Jack, enjoy yourself tomorrow, glad you are going to have great weather!:)

I haven't been on much in the last few days. My son was born on the 26th (Friday) so obviously things have been pretty busy. I finally got a chance to admire all the pictures that have been posted.
I took this picture last week when we thought my wife would be induced. The peanut has been with me for the past couple of weeks.

Thats a fine coffee mug/knife combo to post with your good news, congrats to you and the new Mom.:thumbsup:

The knife looks like the perfect companion for around the stable, David. Nice knife and pic.

Another fine looking knife, LT. Love the horse, I haven't had one since I was an 18yr old. I sure would love to own a couple today, plus a pony for the grandkids to ride.:)

Happy Birthday, Jack. Hope you have an enjoyable one brother.:thumbsup:

I went with a low end, price wise, knife today. Schrade (not USA made), 8OT white bone. I'm no knife expert but this one seems to be a pretty solidly made knife. Good blade grinds, razor sharp and smooth opening and closing with plenty of snap. The bone is pretty nice. I can see myself tote'n it to work some to see how it holds up to some use.

I’ll tell ya Greg, those are nice’n tight. Lack of the Swinden key, with bolster pins:thumbsup:

Otzi Knife ...

Otzi was said to have lived between 3400 and 3100 BCE. That's like 300yrs but he is also said to have died about age 45, so not sure how he managed that one. Something doesn't add up.

Not sure what I'll use this skinner for this evening. Otzi must have found his quite handy. He carried it over mountains and valleys but I'm not sure about rivers. Could Otzi swim? They prolly didn't have a YMCA back then where you could take swimming lessons.

Otzi's skinning knife was made of flint, not 1075 steel like mine. I know the term has been around for a very long time, so maybe that's where we got "skin flint" from. I'm not sure.
