What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Headwinds, I went back and reread my reply to your “opening day” post, and I could probably get away without admitting this but I thought you were talking about opening day of trout season!:oops::D:D:D I guess you can tell where my head is. I even pulled this one to carry today to play along!;)

looking back at your picture, I have no idea how I could’ve mistaken it for some type of fish knife!:rolleyes::D If I don’t get to go trout fishing soon I’m going to lose my mind.;)

If its any consolation, I did the same thing! Kept thinking why does his fishing knife look like a baseball bat... lol.

You and me both on trout fishing. Or any fishing!

I *Think* I have everything nailed down ok so I can go out this weekend, maybe Tuesday... But my fishing probably won't be what you're waiting for; We just got another 6" of snow and I'll be drilling through 2.5' to 3' feet of ice to get at rainbows and king salmon. :D

Thanks x2 Gary!
It’s listed (Schrade ss825) at 3” 9/16 of which is derived from the earlier 825 made from ‘53 to ‘70. Quite similar to the UH in many ways.
Yes, that Robeson’s scales are so mesmerizing in person! There’s the dark orange-red base, then these even darker streaks of red. It was a HTH (had to have) acquisition.
...
Thanks for the extra info, Gus! :):thumbsup:

Yep, it’s bone - a pattern they called Chexx (play on CaseXX). The squares were originally red and black (see photo below borrowed from internet), but I inherited the knife as it is now and have no idea what happened to the black. Personally, I like it much better all red.

Thanks for the photo of an original version. :) I prefer the red/black version visually, but I'll bet they both feel great! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Well, I have been pondering the mystery of crab evolution lately.
Is that a Passover tradition?? o_O:rolleyes:

I thought about just smoking a cigar periodically but don’t think 7 Plus years of not smoking is long enough. There is still a good chance I could fall off the wagon and grab a pack of Marboro red box on the way to the cigar :D
I'm in your situation. I haven't smoked since Christmas Eve 2014, but I don't think I could enjoy an occasional cigar without soon getting hooked again. :(

Have a good week folks :thumbsup: Got my Hartshead Barlow today, and a Covid-proof Boker Plus Atlas for Metal Monday :thumbsup:

I don't remember seeing that copper Böker Plus before, Jack; that's a very appealing knife! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup: I did some superficial searching and it looks like it may not be available at US dealers.

Figured the flat blade of this Camillus Electrician might work PERFECTLY to tighten the outlet into a light socket when I get to it sometime today ;)

Good-looking and hard-working knife, Jim! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Beautiful, cool but sunny morning here. My carry today, no surprises here. Have a great day everyone! :)

Bewitching Böker bonanza, Todd! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Happy Monday All.
Your TC Barlow is otherworldly, John! ;):cool::cool:

Thank you for your comments, Gary. The patina on the backsprings is a neat contrast with the stainless blades on the Uncle Henry USA knives. I have two of the 897 with patina and one still new (unused) in box. I don't think I'll use them up in my lifetime. :D
I know what you mean about using up knives, Dean. I occasionally wonder what (and when) I should do with my knives before I leave this mortal coil and my survivors get stuck with them. :rolleyes:

I'm carrying my Sodbuster Jr. today.

Nice shot of that Gum Fuddy SBJr, Dean! :cool::thumbsup::cool:

I haven't been on much in the last few days. My son was born on the 26th (Friday) so obviously things have been pretty busy. I finally got a chance to admire all the pictures that have been posted.
I took this picture last week when we thought my wife would be induced. The peanut has been with me for the past couple of weeks.

Belated congrats to you and yours on the arrival of a new boy! :thumbsup::):cool::thumbsup: Have you picked out a knife to give him in a few years?

Fabulous weather forecast here for tomorrow, and with the lockdown restrictions here eased just the slightest smidgen yesterday, I am planning to head out for a birthday hike tomorrow :) Taking these two with me, my Ironwood and Damascus Lambsfoot SFO, and my Nicholas Nichols Pocket-Cleaver (thanks @Reaper AL ) :) Have a good day everyone :thumbsup:

I hope you had Happy Hiking, Jack! I'll bet none of the fellow travelers you met had a pair of knives that could hold a candle to yours! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

A modified TC and 91mm Tinker:thumbsup:

Superb stag lockback, José! :thumbsup::cool::thumbsup:

Stunning stag pair, Joshua! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Hopefully the last cracked-ice of the year:cool::thumbsup:

A great Spring day to all:D:thumbsup:
Cool and unusual, Gus! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

Nice photo, Jeff! I like some of the imitation stag, like on your Craftsman whittler, just as much as real stag, for some reason. :cool::thumbsup::cool:

Pair of pocket knife phenoms, John! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

I'm carrying this one for TC Tuesday.

Wonderful knife, outstanding slip, Dean! :cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks Jack :)
Happy birthday !

Great photo, Dan! :thumbsup::):thumbsup:

I'm continuing carrying a case stockman today. I hope everyone has a good one. I dropped an AR last night and broke my second toe on my right foot so I am moving slowly today. They are enjoying poking fun at me in the office!

... So the apple slicing was going along great when I thought, "I wonder how well that 35 appaloosa I was stropping last night would do? Lets see what kind of edge I put on it." I just took up stropping and am still learning the art.

Anyway it sliced through the apple much easier and faster than I was expecting :eek:

On a good note, I apparently did a pretty good job with the strop :)
On a bad note, the bigger bandage I have on now is making typing a less precise endeavor o_O
I hope you guys heal up soon! :eek::thumbsup::thumbsup:

You’re right about that! :D I’d be happy to just catch some of my beloved little bluegills off the dock. A few more warm sunny days and they will be moving into the shallow water.:thumbsup:

Well, the time had come ...
This morning Thur Apr 1st 2021, I gave away ALL my pocket knives
... except this one. Nobody wanted this 72

7VN7L4q.jpg
That has got to be an April fools joke!:D Giving away your knives...maybe, but the fact that nobody wanted that beautiful 72...no way I’m buying that one BrotherJim!:D

That Schatt Pen Knife is really nice, especially with that nice full clip blade. :cool::thumbsup:

Thank you, John. It's a keeper for me, has none of the issues a few of my other Schatts have.

I decided to carry for thrifty Thursday today. Two RR knives with bone handles, copperhead & canoe. Rough Rider does smooth bone very well,
the red coloring and finish on this canoe knife is perfect IMO.
