What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Heading into the weekend with the indomitable #42 Missouri Trapper--have a great Friday, everyone!

These are some old posts I quoted early in the week, and now it's Friday already, and I have no idea what happened to the entire week!:(

I really like your bonestag teardrop, Dean, but this one is also a winner!:thumbsup::thumbsup: How many teardrop models do you have? Are they all 2-blade?

What?! It's Friday already? Weeks go by like days used to now that I'm retired. Thank you, Gary. Regarding Teadrops, I have three 2-bladed and 8 with one blade. I need to cycle a few more of these into my daily carry.

Thanks JJ, sounds fascinating :) My grandfather read a lot of Western fiction, so much so that folks said he walked bow-legged! :D
That's hilarious, Jack! There was quite a wealth of non-fiction Western characters helping create a vast amount of great Western fiction books!:cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

Have a fun Friday folks ;) Two Old Friends for me today

Your horn covered Lamb is quite a startling beauty, while your classic Sheffield spear looks as tasty as that bread!:D:thumbsup::thumbsup:

That Pallares Solsona slip joint looks crazy good. The domestic retailer I'm looking at (which is offering the same knife as far as I can tell) lists the closed length at 4.5 inches. Other retailers list it as 10 cm (about 4 inches). Can you tell me how your knife measures, 4 inches or 4.5 inches? Thanks!

It's exactly 4 inches closed.

Nice 47 Dylan, in my opinion, that Micarta is the best of the run.;)

Thank you! Admittedly, I am not the biggest fan of Micarta on my slip joints and I am a loud critic of GEC's satin/brushed finishes. However, this one was a very pleasant surprise and the Burlap, which is a material that had previously not captured my interest, is far nicer than I expected.

Is that a new Kephart Dylan?

Yes and no, Jack. It's a knife that is most certainly inspired by Kephart's design but in a considerably scaled down version. I have a couple more of these in different size (one larger and one mid sized) in the works from the same maker. It is his take on the Kephart design - with some of his personal design changes.

Here is the little Auk3 beside the Becker Kephart.

I have noticed that most makers, even famous ones, just buy their jigged bone from someone like Culpepper. It comes in flat pieces. By the time it is hafted and finished most of the pattern is ground off. Tony would not accept that.

Personally, I like the jigging that I see Case do a bit better than what GEC produces and far better than what Queen/S&M produced in recent decades. I agree with you in that I usually do not like Case's dyes but every once in awhile, I find a gem.

Some of the nicest jigging that I own is on this Lambsfoot that @glennbad did up for me - I can't recall where he sourced the bone but I like that there are no smooth spots.
