What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Greg, I tell ‘ya...
if that ain’t one of the purdyiest knafs I’ve ever seen:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Thanks, Gus. I carried it a bunch when I first got it new but mostly its just been stored the past few years.

That's a beauty... too bad we may not see those again for quite a while.
Thanks, John. I'm afraid you might be right about the Northwoods, sadly. But I also imagine that I wouldn't be able to obtain one if they do hit the market again.
Got this...again.
I had something pretty cool happen today. I been toting this Andy Fannin awhile now, and it’s really neat but the thing (there is always a ‘thing’) that I wanted different was I wanted the stag darker. Was toying with the tea/coffee soak but heard the stag swells (not brave enough for that) and then read about the leather dye (hadn’t gotten around to ordering that and experimenting...life’s busy again) and a pair of amber stag scales from culpepper showed up in the mail I had ordered. They were still a bit damp with the dye so I rubbed my finger in it and on the scales and presto. Nice even dye job. Waited a bit and cleaned the knife...all good now. Wanted just a little age/darker look.View attachment 1567802View attachment 1567803
That stag color is perfection, nicely done H n' F.

Beautiful pair Dylan! My first 66 (edit to say- or is that a 29?) is in the mail- excited to get it!

Wonderful Red 'n' Black pairing Dylan

Thank you, fellas! rcs86 rcs86 , I hope you like the 66, it's a great pattern. Unfortunately, I have let a couple get away from me in the past but I managed to hang on to this one.

Checking out a new blade from a new-to-me maker - and of course, my trusty WCLF is along for the ride as well.

I started this morning out fishing for a few minutes in the irrigation pond. I got skunked, but it was still good to make some casts. I had this Case stockman with me.

Then I had a little electrical project to finish up.

Luckily everything worked when it was done.

It must have been all the moral support I had.

It’s always good to make a few casts, especially with such good company!👍

UPDATE on the Wooden Tool Chest I posted this past Sunday and use for knife storage ... you do get what you pay for
The 'wooden' drawer rails are some kind of what appears to be pressed wood and attached to the chest with small nails
The weight of the bottom long drawer broke of the end tip of the rail on both sides where the last small nail is located
I used super glue to reattach the rail tip, not only to the remainder of the rail, but to the chest as well, and so far so good
As a precaution, I put a bead of super glue on the other long drawer rail tips
Problem appears to be corrected but wouldn't or shouldn't have happened to begin with on a name brand well built wooden tool chest

Apparently the drawer weight when open and canted against the rail tips only, snapped them off

The drawer still functioned and I honestly didn't notice anything wrong until I saw a broken tip in the bottom of the chest and wondered what the heck is this?

Arrow in picture points to where the rail tips break off with the weight of the drawer resting in an open drawer position
And a picture of contents of the bottom long drawer whose weight in open drawer position, broke the tips

Having ended the experiment and going back to my sinfull ways as an incurable knife knut, I have my daily rotation with me. In addition to my ever present Wenger SI in its belt pouch with the LED light, I have my old yellow peanut back in my right pocket. My classic is back on my keyring, and I feel like all is back as it should be. And in memory of my dear old Uncle Paul, I even tucked a very old Christy knife in my tobacco pouch, just in case.

What are you guys carrying today?
Case C61050 folding hunter

In the mid 70's there was an old guy at the mall with a knife table(s) set up and I spent some time looking at everything he had
The old guy allowed me to silently look over his vast collection of knives
Finally, I told him I wanted a good work knife but had no idea which might be best, out of all the knives he had
He picked up a black Sod Buster Jr in CV, "This is the one you want", he said
For $8 it was the best EDC a fella could ask for and served me well through hard use at work in a factory for several years
I abused the knife to the point of breaking the tip, that took some trying, and tossed it.

I have a modern black Sod Buster Jr, but it's Stainless. Just not the same as that '70s era CV

I like the Sod Buster pattern so much, today I ordered a Maserin D2 version in Bocote and am awaiting shipment

In the mean time, Friday Carry ...

While waiting for the Boker 20-20 I took this with me today. Ebony handle, lock back. Very slim and light. The action is superbly smooth and lock has no play whatsoever. I have only one GEC so I don't know if this is a good comparison, but I would like to know if these Bokers are on the same level? The quality seems to be up there.
