What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

"Minor" alteration.
Decided to put the MR431 Sowbelly stockman away, and carry the Rough Rider RR1836 Red Rider/Little Beaver Moose for a change.
(In the original Camillus series, these two each had their own knife. They didn't have to share space on one.)
Keeping the SK Blades The Gentleman on for a bit longer.

Wonderful Workhorse, GT. 🤠

Christian kamagong kamagong inspired me to take my old Taylors Eye Witness out of Retirement to carry today and use while we were putting in the rest of our small garden . Old Pics of my First Lambfoot and a real nice one to use .

Harry

Glad to see it Harry. I figure a beautiful old knife like that should be treated like you’d treat a vintage ‘68 Ford Mustang GT. You wouldn’t make it a daily driver, but you should take it out every now and then to fully appreciate it.

Lambsfoot of the Week has been my Union Jack, a rosewood A Wright & Son lambsfoot my wife and daughter bought me when they visited the UK in 2017:

Carrying the beautiful Red Medium Jack to work today...
Wow! Last Wednesday was when Case medium jacks, black and red, went wild!  :D:cool:

Toting a couple of Robeson jacks today, the older one is wearing Walnut. :)
Notable pair of classics, JJ!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Gary, your Champion is a...champion! It looks like it has been carried/used for a few years.

Your are correct, Gary. It is the regualr 54 frame. I've included a 54/48 comparison photo. I like the micarta single-blade 54 better as I have a more secure grip on it when using. Weight of these two, micarta 54 @ 64 grams versus rosewood 48 @ 50 grams.

Thanks, Dean. :) Most of my red celidor SAKs come from the local gun and knife show where I can almost always find a table with a family that sells new ax handles and used SAKs. I certainly give the Champion its turns in my pocket, but most of its "mileage" occurred before it came to me.

Thanks for the revealing comparison photos and weights!:cool::thumbsup:

Thanks Gary! I know, the view goes away pretty quickly. During the summer I like to have my coffee down on the dock, should be great for pictures!😉👍

Oh man, the dorm room thing is funny! My daughter would accuse me of the same thing!😂
Looking forward to the summer "change of venue" for your knife pics, Todd. :)

I carried this delrin Schrade today.

Thanks, Todd. :) I really like the Marbles Ram's Horn and have several patterns, including the Barlow; I agree, it's nicely made.:thumbsup:

Merci GT, c'est le entente cordiale! ;) :D

Excellent pics Gary  :)

Superb photos of a couple of desirable knives!:cool::cool:

We were riding to town today for our usual stops but woke up to this

so, instead of fighting the snow, I'll ride my desk with the Sod Buster Jr. pictured atop the binoculars. Dang it!!!!! I was looking forward to a hot bowl of chili at the Wagon Wheel Cafe.:(
That's not right, ED, to have snow after mid-May!:eek: Even worse when it prevents a guy from having his much-anticipated bowl of chili!

That's a Dandy and Handy knife, GT. 🤠
Thanks, John. :)

Speaking of good looking, your RR stag sowbelly stockman is a real looker, Gary.
Thanks, Dean. :)

I carried these two on my hike today: Case Micarta Trapper and Deep Canyon bone Barlow.

Splendid pair of knives, Dean; I especially like that Barlow!:cool::thumbsup:

UPDATE on the Wooden Tool Chest I posted this past Sunday and use for knife storage ... you do get what you pay for
The 'wooden' drawer rails are some kind of what appears to be pressed wood and attached to the chest with small nails
The weight of the bottom long drawer broke of the end tip of the rail on both sides where the last small nail is located
I used super glue to reattach the rail tip, not only to the remainder of the rail, but to the chest as well, and so far so good
As a precaution, I put a bead of super glue on the other long drawer rail tips
Problem appears to be corrected but wouldn't or shouldn't have happened to begin with on a name brand well built wooden tool chest

Apparently the drawer weight when open and canted against the rail tips only, snapped them off

The drawer still functioned and I honestly didn't notice anything wrong until I saw a broken tip in the bottom of the chest and wondered what the heck is this?

Arrow in picture points to where the rail tips break off with the weight of the drawer resting in an open drawer position
And a picture of contents of the bottom long drawer whose weight in open drawer position, broke the tips

Thanks for the update on the tool chest, Jim; glad it seems to still be functional, even with what sounds like a "design flaw".;)

In the mid 70's there was an old guy at the mall with a knife table(s) set up and I spent some time looking at everything he had
The old guy allowed me to silently look over his vast collection of knives
Finally, I told him I wanted a good work knife but had no idea which might be best, out of all the knives he had
He picked up a black Sod Buster Jr in CV, "This is the one you want", he said
For $8 it was the best EDC a fella could ask for and served me well through hard use at work in a factory for several years
I abused the knife to the point of breaking the tip, that took some trying, and tossed it.

I have a modern black Sod Buster Jr, but it's Stainless. Just not the same as that '70s era CV

I like the Sod Buster pattern so much, today I ordered a Maserin D2 version in Bocote and am awaiting shipment

In the mean time, Friday Carry ...

CASE Jigged Chestnut Bone Sod Buster Jr ... CV

Cool story, and that jigged chestnut bone CV SBJr is outstanding!:thumbsup::cool:

Up here in Canada, it’s Queen Victoria Day... with the contemporary connotation of “May 24 weekend” as it’s a long one. It is customary for one to indulge in at least opening a few bottles, if not completely consuming a case of 24 bottles of beer...
The 74 will fit in quite well for this Monday, here again on the cheerful apricot tree.

Thanks Gary :) ... no further problems with the tool chest after reattaching the rail tips. Would be simple enough to replace the rails with some good solid wood (oak maybe) but since it's working, I'll let it ride. Not going to throw time and effort into an inferior product unless push comes to shove. The chest costs a fraction of what a top quality wooden tool chest costs ... but you get what you pay for of course.

The Case medium jack is just about the right size. Bigger than a Peanut but configured about the same. I really like it. Looks like a few others do too.

The Case Sod Buster ticks a lot of boxes for a good utility working knife at a working man's price point. Don't think Case will ever put that pattern in the vault but who knows.
