Do you get a lot of snakes in the garden? I suppose having dogs keeps them off?

Very nice Dan. Is that a Grohmann?
That's interesting, Mountain Lion must be exciting to see- at a distance. Once saw a Brown Bear on a trail about 150 metres from me in Eastern Finland.
Terrific Trio of Respectable Rough Riders.
Al Mar makes great knives. I bought one a few years ago specifically as a gift for my bro-in-law. He’s a great guy and a knife guy, but always carries some high end tactical folder. I thought the Al Mar had enough of a modern flair while still being a porch worthy knife, and I could ease him into being a traditional guy.
Beautiful and capable pair, Steve!Oregon Trapper and a Sword Brand Jack

Why did you use a 12 gauge? We do get snakes Will but not too often. This is a Great Basin Rattlesnake I killed some years ago in our back yard. I usually try to get them up and toss them over the fence down the hill but on this day, my wife, grandchildren, and two dogs were in the back yard and I didn't want to mess with the snake while they were there. Blew his head off with a 12-gauge shotgun.

I agree Jeff, thanks! I'm glad I found this one after all these years, as it is mostly traditional, with a bit of Al's "edgy" flair.Al Mar makes great knives. I’ve spent a lot of time outdoors in pretty liony areas and I can’t remember ever seeing a mountain lion. I guess they survive on being stealthy. We have quite a coyote pack that hunts around here. When we start to see a lot of rabbits, we can expect to hear them howling nearby. Good reason to carry a sidearm when going out for a walk.
We are outside the normal range for big cats, but a couple of years ago, there were a bunch of reports, including photos of a cougar sneaking around in the Chicago suburbs. Biologists thought it was a young male that had been driven out to find his own range. Wonder what happened to him...
Ed, that photo you posted on your tractor showed some beautiful scenery! Wild looking.
Thank you, Jack!that's another fine pairing![]()
