The 'cap-lifter' catches the steel ball, which holds the blade shut in the vertical position. When you turn it round, the ball drops out, and allows you to open the bladeThat’s pretty cool.I’ve never heard of one of those before.

Last night the sheepsfoot blade bit me as I closed the spey blade following the photo session
Those share the same spring and I guess the sheepsfoot took offense LOL

Knock on wood !!! Just glad my thumb wasn't further in the way when that sheepsfoot snapped shut from a partially open position as I closed the partially open spey on the same spring.It's been 2or3 years since I've done that. Knock on wood.
