What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

In the office again today. Seems to be happening more each week. Think I'm going to miss working from home ;)

This little guy has become my office day knife.

47? Has become one of my favorite stockman knives :) Happen to have one in the pocket today too!

You betcha! 6347 amber bone👍🏼
Those Case '47 models are superb stockman examples! I like the bonestag and amber bone covers you guys have.:thumbsup::cool:
I have a sawcut bone version, and I happen to be carrying this Case Caliber LT347 version this week, pictured here with a muskrat also wearing Zytel:

Toting the two Schrades for Saturday. :)
Your matched pair of Schrades is matchless, JJ!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Thanks, GT. Those pliers are pretty purpose driven; a necessity if you’re fixing fence, but if you don’t fix fence anymore they’re pretty useless. The Moore Makers are a nice pocket size.
I don't fix fence any more, but having pliers with a little hammer built in would be kind of handy, and I do occasionally need to cut wire, and I have better luck cutting wire with fence pliers than with the wire cutters on "regular" pliers (that I seem to have a million of 🤪).

Today was a peanut day for me.

That black Peanut is classy!:cool::thumbsup: Synthetic?

Thanks Gary, I always enjoy your reminisces of your time on the farm :)
...

Happy Independence Day to all our US posters :) Have a great day everyone

Couple of American classics for Independence Day, Jack!:cool::thumbsup:
Don't give too much credence to my farm memories, Jack. When I occasionally get together with siblings, our memories of "shared experiences" are quite different from one person to another! o_O😁

Yowza! That's a gorgeous stockman!:cool::cool: Can you give any details about it? Are those original covers? I'm no Schrade expert, but I don't recall seeing that tang stamp with the "LTD." before; what does that signify?

Well, yesterday afternoon was busy as one of my buddy’s wives celebrated her birthday. It was quite humid by mid day and the lamb was well on the way of being ready, so I had also brought along a ss bladed Schrade number. Slicing and peeling that krispy skin was a blast, as it was so delish! Might as well carry the same today for Shrunday:cool::thumbsup::thumbsup:

A great and peaceful 4th of July Sunday to all:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Gus, both the roasted lamb and your Schrade look long, lean, and luscious!!:thumbsup::cool:

Your welcome. I used the rubber mallet pictured and it did just fine. Next to it are a few knives I fixed the centering on.
I appreciate the picture.:thumbsup::cool: I'm a little less enthusiastic about trying to fix the centering on one of mine since Brother Jim's thread relating how he broke a blade trying together it centered!☹️

:D ... the Bulldog did indeed bite me LOL

Thank you Gary !!! :)
Chestnut may be my favorite Case bone. Only have two though. That teardrop and Sod Buster Jr. in Chestnut bone. Both CV
Those are 2 good chestnut CV patterns to have, Jim!:thumbsup::thumbsup: I've been fortunate enough to acquire those 2 and 6 other patterns over the years.

Good and peaceful Sunday morning, porch. Slept late, and am enjoying coffee on the back deck listening to the birds.

In honor of Independence Day, I thought I’d mention a relative who signed the Declaration of Independence, Joseph Hewes. ...
Thanks for the interesting historical link, Jeff!:cool::thumbsup:

It's a very simple mechanism Gary :) A steel ball slightly larger than the blade-well, lodges in the 'cap-lifter', preventing the blade from being opened. But when you turn the knife the other way, the ball rolls free, and you can open the blade
Thanks pal! :D It looked even worse when I got it! I've been trying to post a pic, but I'm struggling with my internet connection (might be the rotten weather)
Thanks for the explanation, Jack. :)

Authors noted for future investigation. CJ Box also, sbh06. Thanks for the tips. I've been looking for new authors. Its always fun to read a novel set in a location you're familiar with. I've been reading a series of novels by Steve Hamilton set in the U.P.
...
Are those the Alex McKnight novels, where Alex owns cabins he rents in Paradise, MI? I think I've read all of those, and part of my enjoyment of the stories is that we've vacationed in the U.P. for over 30 years and have often visited Paradise and Sault Ste. Marie, both towns that figure prominently in the novels.:)

Happy Independence Day! Working on lunch - why backyard Hotdogs using a Buck Knife of course - having a pig tonight at the beach & pool club. Our fireworks got moved to Monday night due to a storm last night (Yep the third, our little town couldn’t get a certified fireworks outfit to do the honors on the Fourth - they were all booked in the big towns). OH

Those dogs look great, Bruce!:cool::thumbsup: I'm gonna look for some chicken or turkey hotdogs (or brats), since my wife won't eat beef or pork.

Peachseed old and new

Positively peachy pair, Steve! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

I'm going to have to avoid going near any water today, as my Random Tuesday pick was a Chinese-made Marbles Jumbo Trapper. Got that on my belt, and my Hartshead Barlow in my pocket

Love that pastoral shot of your wonderful Hartshead Barlow Lamb; the jumbo trapper is certainly a belt carry and will handle the large tasks, very cool couple! 😎:thumbsup:

Hmm.
Chaperoning the Purdue Women’s Softball Team.
You devil, you.

Gary this is a made for movie script ready to go! Who should play the math professor? Brad Pitt? Mel Gibson?
Jeff, back in the day, I had middle school students who thought I looked like Chuck Norris, and others who thought I resembled a vampire! 🤪
You might think a trip like that would be filled with adventure, and thrills, and fun/comedy, and maybe even romance, but I remember it as having WAY too much drama! 😲 Many of the players were more concerned with what everybody thought about everybody else, instead of just enjoying the weather and playing some ball!

Thanks Greg. This photo has been on here before (maybe the favorite pattern thread or the Case Knives thread). But here you go; some users in this group and at least another two I can think of not pictured here. Bruce

Definitely an impressive stash of '18s, Bruce!:thumbsup::cool:

Today's totes are both by Imperial, a 1964 Army utility knife and a late 1930s Kamp King; Happy 4th!
That striped Kamp-King is sensational, JJ!:thumbsup::cool:

No family here, so neighborhood service completed (before it got too hot) this Sunday 4th of July
Cut grass and soft washed (half clorox and half water in a pump sprayer) mildew from the siding on the front of a nice elderly lady's home down the street
Maybe this week, I'll trim back that Boxwood on the corner of her house for her ... and my fingernails D'OH

In thanks, she gave me a jar of her special homemade Strawberry Preserves YUM !!!
4th of July? ... so far so good ... dealing with fireworks later I'm sure, and one dog that DOES NOT like or do well with the noise
...
Plaudits for helping out your neighbor, Jim!:thumbsup::thumbsup: (Your post got me thinking about some of the elderly ladies that live near us, and I realized that some of them are probably younger than me! 😁)

Neither of our dogs handles fireworks well, but one is much more jumpy than the other. My wife has been getting a prescription for sedatives from the vet for the past several years to help the dogs make it through the week before and and the week after the Fourth.

I “Conducted” the hell out of the smoker today! Happy 4th everybody!

A mess of ribs...
Guys, those knives sure look fantastic with the meat backgrounds!:cool::thumbsup:

Have a great week everyone Starting mine with these two

Notable pair of knives and photos, Jack!:cool::thumbsup:

I'm switching it up today and going with Skoll, the Ironwood Lamb or Wolf or Whatever.
If I carry him sparingly, he should last several lifetimes... or until Ragnarok, whichever comes first. 🤣
I enjoyed your prognostication about Skoll's lifespan, John! 😁😁
Good to see him again, but is he getting a little harder to see, or getting better at disguising himself?

Yeah they are, tough to pick, but I think I prefer the mark side, like the contrast. Do you have a favorite?

So true Gary, and they usually bring their friends too! Just have to make sure you have plenty of food and drinks, nothing worse than running out of food or drinks!
...
Todd, I think I prefer the other side with more uniform color end-to-end. I'm not a huge fan of bone dye jobs that fade to white at the bolsters.
Glad you had a good holiday!:thumbsup::cool:

...
Thanks, Gary. I got to test out the bottle opener, too. - it worked better than any I've used. The B&S is now my official picnic-knife.
It's good to have an official picnic knife!:thumbsup::cool: I think I've claimed to have one, but I never remember to bring it to picnics.

Really like that modded screwdriver blade on your TL-29!:thumbsup::thumbsup:
Thanks, Gary. Sorry but I don't know, I found it in a box of old things at my in-laws' house.
:)

AG Russell and Case stainless today while sweating in the backyard digging a trench to build a stone walled raised planter....

Hot day to be digging a footing, Greg! 😲
I don't envy you that job, but you sure have a nice-looking yard!

Thanks Gary. Believe me, her homemade Strawberry Preserves are so worth it LOL
I usually just pile up on the leather sofa with the one dog that doesn't tolerate loud sudden noise.
My other dog has long outgrown her noise fears ... or her hearing isn't as good as it used to be. Sugar is 15.
Thankfully, Mason recovers quickly and doesn't require meds

And so speaking of dogs ... couple of Ka-Bar Coppersmith Dog's Head pocket knives that usually get handled every few days
Both made for Ka-Bar by Canal Street Cutlery

Yes, the Alex McKnight novels. I've read the first five. Ice Run in up next. Not too many novels are set in Michigan*, much less the U.P.

*Elmore Leonard comes to mind. Big fan of his. Particularly the ones set around Detroit.

Jim Harrison’s Brown Dog novellas are set I the UP. I read them several years ago. I’m not a literary critic or anything, but I enjoyed them.

Gorgeous is exactly what I said before I bought it, and that was all I needed to know at the time.

I bought it at an antique store a month or two ago and do not know much about it. I am about as far as away from an expert as you can get, but I can tell you what I "assumed"
1. The covers are, as best I can tell, stag or a very good imitation.
2. I don't think anyone would go through the effort of changing the covers on what would have been a relatively inexpensive knife.
3. The knife appears unused and of modern make.
4. I did find an old thread talking about LTD and they seemed to think it meant "limited" What does it mean when a tang reads "LTD"

I don't really know anymore about it than that, like I said I bought it for it's looks :)

Adding more pictures if anyone does know more about it I'd be obliged, otherwise I'll just enjoy it as is, like you said, it's a looker.
