I don't fix fence any more, but having pliers with a little hammer built in would be kind of handy, and I do occasionally need to cut wire, and I have better luck cutting wire with fence pliers than with the wire cutters on "regular" pliers (that I seem to have a million of 🤪).
I have a pair like that somewhere Gary, they were used by cobblers

Edit - Easier to find a photo online than to find my own photo, or the pliers themselves!

Couple of American classics for Independence Day, Jack!:cool::thumbsup:
Don't give too much credence to my farm memories, Jack. When I occasionally get together with siblings, our memories of "shared experiences" are quite different from one person to another! o_O😁
Thanks pal :) It's just the same with me, I'm the oldest, and my younger siblings seem to have had a quite different childhood  :D
Thanks for the explanation, Jack. :)
It's a cool idea :D Some have a small cylindrical pin, rather than a ball

Love that pastoral shot of your wonderful Hartshead Barlow Lamb; the jumbo trapper is certainly a belt carry and will handle the large tasks, very cool couple! 😎:thumbsup:
Thank you kindly good sir :)
Notable pair of knives and photos, Jack!:cool::thumbsup:
Thanks again my friend :)
Stunning pair, which go together well JJ  :)

Couple of All-Stars on the star stump, Steve!:thumbsup::cool:

Those osage orange TC Barlows are very appealing knives!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

Explorer, right? I think that model has a bunch of tools I like, including saw, in-line Philips screwdriver, and magnifier.:cool::thumbsup:

Leaving on a trip tomorrow.
Sorting through my knives, trying to decode which one gets the honors for the next few days.
I've decided on the #66 Jack, it's just to good of an all-around knife to leave at home... my Lamb is already jealous.

I could honestly get by just fine with only these two knives, but what fun would that be?
But seriously, they are probably my two favorite knives I own. In fact, I think they both deserve to go on the trip with me.

Looks like it took you 6 minutes to cave in to your Lambsfoot's jealousy! 😁
Seems like a perfect pair for your fishing trip, John; have a great time!:cool::thumbsup:

I carried this one today.

My plan was to just check on things quickly this morning - start the irrigation, put out some salt, make sure the cows have water, and head home to hang out with the family the rest of the day. Unfortunately when I got there, I found this:
ASQzehK.jpg

I was able to get water to the cows, but the pressure tank failed and needs to be replaced. Half a day later I made it back home to hang with the family. Hopefully I can get the new tank in tomorrow.
That sawcut bone Case mini trapper with Wharncliffe blade is a handsome knife!:cool::cool:
With livestock, it's always something, and it usually need immediate attention!

Perfect pair John :) Have a safe trip buddy

I'm going to have to avoid going near any water today, as my Random Tuesday pick was a Chinese-made Marbles Jumbo Trapper. Got that on my belt, and my Hartshead Barlow in my pocket

Great pic of your stag HHB, Jack, and nice covers on the big Marbles!:thumbsup::cool: Is that some kind of stag bone on the Marbles, or a synthetic faux stag?

I carry today this Thiers de Fontenille Pataud in stag.
...
Elegant knife, José! :thumbsup::thumbsup::cool:

Cool Opinel Gary :D
Bacon. Maybe I’ll have some bacon with breakfast. :p
Nice lineup Gary, those Animalia Opinels are pretty cool! 😎👍
The Tinker is probably my favorite SAK model... perfect assortment of tools. 🤠
I appreciate the affirmation, Jack & Jeff & Todd & John. :)
Jeff, it's not often that I or my knives are an inspiration to anyone; glad we could inspire a breakfast choice.

Pioneer and Frontier working together today.

Have a great one!

That versatile duo could handle a lot of situations, Jon!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

In the office again today. Seems to be happening more each week. Think I'm going to miss working from home ;)

This little guy has become my office day knife.

It doesn't actually have "Office Knife" printed on the handle like some old knives did, but I'll bet it would be hard to find a better knife for the office than that one, Mike!:cool::thumbsup:

Ulster Jack and a Wards four blade Stockman

Absolutely outstanding pair, Steve!! :cool::cool::thumbsup:

Thanks Gary. Believe me, her homemade Strawberry Preserves are so worth it LOL
I usually just pile up on the leather sofa with the one dog that doesn't tolerate loud sudden noise.
My other dog has long outgrown her noise fears ... or her hearing isn't as good as it used to be. Sugar is 15.
Thankfully, Mason recovers quickly and doesn't require meds

And so speaking of dogs ... couple of Ka-Bar Coppersmith Dog's Head pocket knives that usually get handled every few days
Both made for Ka-Bar by Canal Street Cutlery

My Mom used to make strawberry jam (she always froze it, rather than canning it) for which I'm still trying to find a worthy substitute. ;)
Cool copper canine Ka-Bars! :thumbsup::cool::cool:

Yes, the Alex McKnight novels. I've read the first five. Ice Run in up next. Not too many novels are set in Michigan*, much less the U.P.

*Elmore Leonard comes to mind. Big fan of his. Particularly the ones set around Detroit.
Jim Harrison’s Brown Dog novellas are set I the UP. I read them several years ago. I’m not a literary critic or anything, but I enjoyed them.
Mike and Todd, thanks for the info on authors with works set in Michigan.:thumbsup::cool:
(One of my favorite such books is a Newberry Award winning kids book by Christopher Paul Curtis titled The Watsons Go to Birmingham. That the book starts out in Michigan isn't really essential, though.)

Thank you kindly Gary, they sure are !!
We tend to like lambs at about 33lbs just for that Schrade-y look!

Well the good ‘ole Hockey game continues, and the heat has been on around here with it finally dissipating today. Floating around home with a fave…

Have a great evenin’ and night all
Interesting lamb-choosing criterion! 😁
Cheerful knife; given my less-than-expert sharpening skills, I should look for one of those Everlastingly Sharp models!:thumbsup::cool:

Gorgeous is exactly what I said before I bought it, and that was all I needed to know at the time.

I bought it at an antique store a month or two ago and do not know much about it. I am about as far as away from an expert as you can get, but I can tell you what I "assumed"
1. The covers are, as best I can tell, stag or a very good imitation.
2. I don't think anyone would go through the effort of changing the covers on what would have been a relatively inexpensive knife.
3. The knife appears unused and of modern make.
4. I did find an old thread talking about LTD and they seemed to think it meant "limited" What does it mean when a tang reads "LTD"

I don't really know anymore about it than that, like I said I bought it for it's looks :)

Adding more pictures if anyone does know more about it I'd be obliged, otherwise I'll just enjoy it as is, like you said, it's a looker.

Thanks for the extra photos, the LTD. link, and what you know about the knife.:thumbsup::)
I'd probably guess that the covers are stag bone, but they sure do look good!

Classy pair, Jack. Love the barlow, and it appears the compass needle does too.
Today with this little Robi Klaas in Rosewood.

One of yours that I always enjoy looking at, Jose.

That’s (everlastingly sharp) as good as reason as any Gary lol !!
As a reminder, grab ‘em when you can as these were made by Camillus between 2004-07 and have bolster pins, not the Schrade Swinden System. They are somewhat of a heritage run with plastic tubes and literature in 60’s fonts that came out for their 100th anniversary and I would imagine ended with Camillus’ closure in ‘07. Model numbers are SWA293Y (trapper) and SWA834Y as today’s stockman carry….

The good ‘ole Hockey game pushes on again tonite, eventually grabbing a red something or other later on today. A great one to all

Thanks Gary, it's supposed to be stag bone, like the RR stuff :)

Thanks Jeff, well spotted! :D :)
