What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

You got dealt a nice hand this week, GT. 🤠
Thanks, John; I thought so, too. Of course, when I'm being dealt a knife in each of 14 different categories each week, I'm almost guaranteed to have several winners! 🤓:cool: (And tomorrow I plan to post the "free choice" knives I selected this week as I finally restarted a practice that I abandoned back around March 15, 2020 at the start of the coronavirus pandemic.)

Quite an outstanding threesome of slicers today, Jack; it looks like you might be heading for a countryside walk-a-bout, cheers!
Thank you my friend, I managed to get in a few miles in some local woodlands :) It was pretty hot here yesterday though, by Yorkshire standards ;)
Grabbed these two large framed, pocket filling totes from Schatt & Morgan for today. :)
Those two stunners pair together nicely JJ  :)

Knives are looking good; have you seen any lighthouses?
Cool Barlow Street sign!

For Thrifty Thursday, I'm carrying a tiny lockback from Rough Rider.

Cool bird scrimshaw, Rachel!
Can you "roll" the knife from one side to the other between your palms to "animate" the bird??

Another “High Carbon Steel” Camillus made Craftsman, and this wee lil’ Wenger.View attachment 1600656View attachment 1600657Have a great Thursday!
That's a lot of Wenger!

Schrade Uncle Henry 285 UH U.S.A for a fabulous Thursday morning....stay cool gang!
Love that Staglon on Uncle Henrys!

That Case canoe looks like a seaworthy craft!

Delightful duo, José!

Toting the two thrifty Hammer Brand/Imperial slicers from the late 30s. :)
Notable pair, JJ! Appealing tang stamps.

How do you like that knife, Dan? What's the purpose of that big "birdseye rivet" below the "THER" on the closed blade? It can't be the pivot pin that far below the bolster, can it??

I carry today this old Portuguese knife MAM-Palaçoulo.

What a vintage treasure!

Highlight of my week! :D ;)

Stag HHB and health food is a great combo, Jack!

Pulling out today and I’ll have these with me for the ride home. View attachment 1601030
Safe travels, Todd! When we used to go "up north" for just 1 week, we'd try to pack in all the activities we could into 6 days, and I'd be exhausted after a week of vacation. Once we decided to stay for 2 weeks and alternate "active" days and "chill" days, vacation became more enjoyable for me.

5K Qs 5K Qs 5K Qs 5K Qs ~ thanks, buddy! Hope you’re well. Hey ~ how did you get to be your age without experiencing the blistering sun, heat that makes you soak through your necktie, sudden downpours, and ravenous mosquitoes that are all essential elements of a classic outdoor wedding???😜
I don't know how I've managed to miss outdoor weddings until now. The weather was actually almost perfect and there were no bugs. But since it was a beach wedding, I left coat and tie at home, and I ended up with no sand in my dressiest walking shoes!

Continuing to edc my little Tobacco Road congress, this time during a picnic with the family at our city’s largest Viking site, the tumulus Anundshög. Fixed my sons kite with it, so it was even used!

Folkvid raised all these stones after Heden, Anund’s brother. Vred carved the runes.

In summary it’s been a nice summer’s day in the outskirts of my hometown Västerås. The main burial site is visible in the background. According to legend Viking chieftains or even kings are buried here.
Cool photos, sir!! Carving runes on rock must have required the Vikings to sharpen their pocket knives frequently!

Thank you for the kind words Gary, and for that useful tip :D ;)

A useful tip that I've never tried myself, but have often contemplated!

Will be very happy to see 5pm today and say goodbye to this past week! Nothing terrible, just a bit of a stressful work week. Looking forward to this weekend like you wouldn't believe. One more week until vacation :)

Going with a Lambsfoot today, paired with a @bigfish64 influenced pick. Have a great weekend all!

Congrats on the new Lambsfoot, Mike, and that's a handsome Texas Jack!

What a time in my kinda’ town as Sinatra had sang famously long ago. It really did feel like home Gary!!
Now on to today’s carry, a Robeson of course…

A great Friday and weekend to all
Hilarious story, Gus! Do you still have your Soldier Field relic? If so, you should use it in a knife photo, now that we know the backstory!

The sawcut osage orange sure looks fabulous!

Your black SAK is intriguing, Alan! I should probably try one of those more "modern" Vics, but I'm quite happy just gradually picking up some of the "old school" models.

@bigfish64
You bet Todd, I did miss a part of the game experience…
when I ran for those famous Wrigley hotdogs to combat the everflowing onslaught of suds, the kind lady and man behind the counter said they were closed! I pleaded that being from the Canadian north, I just had to have a batch for us, it just had to happen!!
She looks over at the fellow who had started cleaning up with a smile and says to me…
“ so what do you want on ‘em?” Cleverly I reply “I want mustard and onions only! I ain’t from New York mam!! No ketchup for me!!!” She lets out a holler “Virgil, get this fine man a 1/2 dozen dogs!! He sure knows how to eat !”
That covers most of what I recall lol 😂
Another great story of your memorable Chicago experience, Gus! Earlier this week I grilled some hot dogs for my wife and me (turkey dogs, since my wife doesn't eat mammals) and we had an extended discussion about acceptable condiments, with she promoting ketchup and sweet relish and I proclaiming that to be heresy.

Shapleigh and keen kutter, by schrade walden.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Splendid sowbelly, Tim!

1985 Case Canoe——single spring. I like canoes with only one spring. Actually I like knives with the least amount of springs that they have to have.

That's a captivating canoe! Do they call the covers green bone?

ow do you like that knife, Dan? What's the purpose of that big "birdseye rivet" below the "THER" on the closed blade? It can't be the pivot pin that far below the bolster, can it??

Hi GT, it is an exceptionally well made knife.
I really like mine.
I think the rivet is mostly decorative as it is a motif in several of their designs.
If I look in the well it appears that the portion of the rivet is used to hold the bone covers as well.

It feels solid with a nice blade geometry, VG10 steel. Excellent F&F
edit: for less than $50 canadian is a really good buy imo

Thank you for compliment . I bought this knife new when I was a teenager . It was my first Case knife . No it is not green bone ; it’s chestnut bone ,but I think it looks somewhat like jigged Appaloosa bone .
