What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

Your black SAK is intriguing, Alan! I should probably try one of those more "modern" Vics, but I'm quite happy just gradually picking up some of the "old school" models.
It’s actually OD Gary. It’s Victorinox’s typical high quality but too large for every day pocket carry. It came in a nice sheath so most days it sits in my pack. I was looking for something new and this popped up on the auction site. The seller lived near me so I took a shot and made an offer which he accepted. We met for coffee one morning, so all in all a very good deal.E075702A-1190-4895-AD0A-C0E09F7ABF55.jpeg

Knives are looking good; have you seen any lighthouses?
Cool Barlow Street sign!

Safe travels, Todd! When we used to go "up north" for just 1 week, we'd try to pack in all the activities we could into 6 days, and I'd be exhausted after a week of vacation. Once we decided to stay for 2 weeks and alternate "active" days and "chill" days, vacation became more enjoyable for me.

Sadly, we did not visit any lighthouses. That was clearly on my agenda, but with only a few days in which to fit several activities, it wasn’t at the top of the list. Dad got outvoted. 😊 Alternating days sounds fantastic to me also, I often come home from a vacation exhausted! 😂

Fantastic Clip/Pen Jack, Jack. 🤠

Whao! Some kind of custom Okapi?
Cool bird scrimshaw, Rachel!
Can you "roll" the knife from one side to the other between your palms to "animate" the bird??
Thanks, Gary.
No, I'm afraid the images aren't oriented properly to work as a thaumatrope. If only I'd had the foresight to plan better. ;)

Thanks John, glad you made it home OK buddy, and, as always, that's a great pairing
Have a peaceful Sunday, folks!

Wow thank you as always Gary !!
Oh I have that relic here somewhere and I will indeed dig it up as I’ve moved back to Mom’s and it’s in storage. When I endeavour to find it at some point, you’ll be the first to know!
Ya… katsup huh… lol !

Friday evening was quite a mean one up here. Other than tons of wild rain a tornado touched down upon a smaller city about an hour to our NW. No one perished from what I’ve heard with property damage being a major factor. This is what our sky looked like just before nightfall…

So for Sunday’s easy carry, as we’ve cooled off from the humidity since then,
A classic…

Thaumatrope. From Wikipedia: "A thaumatrope is an optical toy that was popular in the 19th century. A disk with a picture on each side is attached to two pieces of string. When the strings are twirled quickly between the fingers the two pictures appear to blend into one due to the persistence of vision."

Just never know what you're going to learn when you log into BF 🤓 Thaumatrope was a new one to me. Thanks for this morning's intellectual exercise :thumbsup: Gotta keep those brain cells churning around in there😃

I love learning new things. Unfortunately I'll either forget it by tomorrow, or some other important piece of knowledge will be squeezed out to make room :p

Back from town I switched knives to the mighty yellow peanut 😎

I "wowed" (is that a word?) your post, because nearby tornados are always wow worthy, but I love 😍 the Craftsman. Based on all the Crafstmans I've seen, I'm assuming that's delrin and that is some good looking delrin. The color and jigging are both fantastic. If that's actually bone, then double wow 😲😲

Do you know who made that one?

Nice photo John. Those single blade copperheads are really nice, I still haven’t pulled the trigger on the yellow yet, but I’m feeling very weak! 😊👍
Sunday already?! Hope everyone has had an enjoyable weekend. Mini trapper for today.

Love those mini trappers with the secondary wharncliffe, and white bone is icing on the cake. 😎👍
Lest you think I don’t eat my veggies too:View attachment 1602179
That looks fantastic Markeologist. 👍 Years ago I went over to a buddy’s house for a cookout, his family were big hog farmers at the time. He said he was going to have chops, ribs, and pork steaks. So I asked if he wanted me to bring any vegetables, and all he said was, “Why?” 😂

Nice knife Gus, and that’s a beautiful photo of some really nasty looking storm clouds. Glad nobody was hurt. 👍
