What "Traditional Knife" are ya totin' today?

This evening I’m using my RR stockman to perform an ancient tired-middle-class-parent ritual; the extraction of the final centilitres of wine from a bag-in-box. Have a nice weekend!

We've had a week of fine weather here in Yorkshire, and I'm off out for a hike tomorrow. Just made a sandwich and packed my bag, and now I'm going to relax with a beer or two ;) Wishing everyone a great weekend :) I'm going Double Stag again tomorrow, and throwing in my Bradford Guardian 3 :)

Gerber 400 and Victorinox Classic

I had a Gerber 400 when I was about 16 years old. I distinctly remember paying $50 for it which was a lot of money back then. I remember carrying it on a 21 mile hike on the Lincoln Heritage Trail during Boy Scouts. That’s more than three decades ago and I don’t remember much else about the day, but I remember carrying that knife that day. Unfortunately I no longer have it; it’s one of only two knives I ever lost with the other being a Victorinox Alox Farmer. Seeing yours brought back the memories. Thank you for posting it.

AWESOME !!! ... That Gerber 400 of mine is over 30yrs old and was an EDC during my Naval military career. Made a leather belt sheath for it from an old leather belt I had. That knife is an "old friend" favorite.

The Gerber 400 and homemade sheath I made for it ... over 30yrs ago. Sheath is in surprisingly great shape despite daily use and abuse during a military career. I should give that leather some lovin'/massaging/preservation I guess.
Fits that Gerber 400 like a glove (knife *snaps* into the sheath) and tight friction fit doesn't require any retention straps or such. So lightweight it just disappears on my belt and access is as easy as lifting my hand from my side.
... yep, I'm a lefty

That Ruana Vic's blade is a sight to behold...just gorgeous!

Thank you !!! I only have one Ruana knife. Could have had any Ruana knife and chose Vic's Blade. With flat ground blade, it's an excellent sticker or slicer.
I'm beginning to look at other Ruana knives but I think Vic's Blade will always be my favorite Ruana.

The pile side of Vic's Blade. Elk handle looks a little better than on the mark side IMO ...

Brother Jim, I love it. It’s nice that you’ve had it all these years. I love the rig and the fact you made it out of an old belt. I did see the box to my Gerber a couple years ago but haven’t seen the knife for years. I really appreciate you posting the knife in the sheath you made. Most importantly I thank you for your military service.

Thank YOU sir !!! ... that sheath doesn't fit my civilian belts very well, which are wider and thicker than military belts.
Not only was that sheath specifically handmade for that knife but also custom fit to the military cotton web belt worn daily ... at the time.
These days, I just pocket carry the Gerber 400 ... and it doesn't complain LOL
